  • 🍊 Explore Berri South Australia ~ Things to do in and around Berri
Berri is a lovely, small town on the Murray River in the Riverland region of South Australia. It is surrounded by 3000 acres of vineyards and orchards and is 240 kilometres North East of Adelaide.
The magnificent Murray River meanders through the Berri, and it is a popular tourist destination with many picnic, fishing and camping spots along the river. In summer, there's always the opportunity for some excellent water skiing.

When we visited Berri we started the day with coffee and cake at River Jacks Cafe before wandering along the historic riverfront walk and climbing the Lookout Tower. We then drove to Monash to see the playground, walked around Wilabalangaloo Reserve and had dinner at the Mallee Fowl Restaurant.
River Jacks Cafe is nestled on the bank of the Murray River and is the perfect place to enjoy delicious coffee and homemade cake.
You will find a lovely mural under the Berri Bridge along the Riverfront walk. The mural is based on the Ngurunderi Dreaming story about the origins of the Murray River. You can also enjoy beautiful views of the River Murray and see the black granite sculpture with engravings of birds and animals that is a tribute to Australia’s famous Aboriginal tracker, Jimmy James.
The Berri Lookout Tower was once a water tower, and it is open daily from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. You can climb the steps of the 15.8-metre tower to get great views over the Berri Township.
The Monash Adventure Park is a fantastic playground with crazy leaning towers, a maze, rope and wave bridges, slippery dips, swings, water features and much more. It is open daily from 10.00 to 5.00 pm, has BBQs and picnic areas, and is free.
At the Wilabalangaloo Reserve, we wandered along the 1.5-kilometre Riverwalk and saw stunning 30-metre-high ochre-coloured sandstone cliffs and beautiful views over the River Murray from the lookout.
For a unique Australian dining experience, you can’t miss the Mallee Fowl Restaurant; this quirky-themed restaurant is set on 24 acres of bushland and serves fantastic steaks with a great selection of South Australian wines.

A well produced and interesting video. I lived in Berri between 1973 - 1988 and it has certainly progressed from what I remember. Glad to see the Monash playground still exists, it's far different from the simple steel stuctured when it first opened! My kids loved it.

Thank you for your lovely feedback; the new Monash Playground is fantastic. I remember taking my kids to the old playground when they were quite young, and they loved it, too!
