  • New Legislation came into effect July 2 2024 and the result is sweeping density increases across British Columbia. Although we are still learning a lot about what changes are going to happen I wanted to give my initial response to what could happen moving forward and who this will affect the most.

    This has been happening in the US for years now on the West Coast, has been slow to take hold. Govt's attempt to improve affordability, Missing Middle Housing is the nomenclature.

    The regional district of Nanaimo prevents people from building a second or third dwelling on an acre of property.

    Reckon this is just government giving back property rights the cities should never have taken in the first place.
