    Just retired & am thinking of breaking out my old ASL stuff. I learned this game playing "Squad Leader" then moved on to ASL. Have rule book in slip case from Avalon Hill. Also "The General" magazine had tutorials, replays, etc. Have quite a collection much of it unused. Have modules one thru eleven and ASL Journal up to #5. Got to be a habit just to buy the new stuff. Mostly played Beyond Valor, Yanks, Airborne Module. Some of my well trimmed cardboard leaders (9-1, 8-1) Germans are so much used the art work has worn off.
    Loved this game, the scenarios, the maps, the artwork, the nationalities, etc. Very complicated and not for everybody.
    Watched some YT videos on Best Board Games, Best War Games, most historical etc and man I have not heard of any of them. None of them mention ASL except to briefly dismiss it as "too heavy"
    Have yet to cut out my USMC, Japanese, Chinese, Axis Minors, etc...
    Sorry, rambling on a bit here, enjoyed your video.

      Yes it does, but only for the Germans and Russians and maybe some Finns. The other nationalities are in those modules.

    how in gods name do you go about learning this game...?

    • @ardwulfslair
      @ardwulfslair  Před 5 lety +1

      With a teacher, or use the starter kit. It's pretty close to unlearnable straight out of this rulebook.

      @@ardwulfslair do you think the stater kits are really that helpful? I went old school and picked up 4th ed original SL, GI Anvil, Cross of Iron, and Crescendo. Kinda like those a bit more

    • @ardwulfslair
      @ardwulfslair  Před 5 lety

      You can do it that way as well, those are just harder to get. The SKs are more integrated into the ASL rules, though.

      Working on it. Real life stuff in the way at the moment and probably for another two months or so.
