  • As the second year of winter camping rolls around, I'm upping my heating game again! I got the Kovea Cupid butane heater for camping in my 4Runner, and gave it a try, during my most recent car camping trip. It got down to 19 degrees! Did the Cupid heater cut it?
These heaters are the least expensive, directly from Korea on eBay, but there is no customer service if you need help, and instructions in Korean.
    Here: ebay.us/sQJPoY
They are a bit more at these places, but you do get the advantage of customer support, and I believe the instructions are in English:

    - Butane will not vaporize at temps below 31F (-.5C) No vapor = no ignition. So if you’re camping in extreme cold, propane may be better for you! Though it was 19 outside, I don’t think it dipped below 40 inside.
    - If you missed it at the very end… I don’t know for sure how long a butane canister will last. I started with a full can, and used it for about four 30 minute long cycles (2 hours) on low, and that used about half the can. So, maybe 4 hours per can?
