  • Using rhino v7 wip, video shows the quad remesh feature and how to use it to create a SubD model that can be edited, offset, and converted to nurbs.

    Very informative video Kyle... That SubD offset advice was awesome! Looking forward to more of your webinars and future release of 7.

    Wow, superb tutorial, Quad Remesh combined with Subd is a godsend for me (3d scanning/reverse engineering), when V7 is released I'm there, thanks Kyle!

    I’m not sure how I’d use this but I like it!
    Thank you for the tutorial.

    Great to have you doing SubD videos for Rhino/McNeal Kyle. It's your Tsplines videos that got me into this workflow. Now, how abot some axial symmetry in SubD, it's only feature keeping me in R5/Tsplines space

      I'm pushing hard for this internally.. won't be for the initial release, but it will likely come later-

    Appreciate the video, keep it up. A customer needed to 3d scan a model and I couldnt modified it until I used Quadremesh.

    is it possible to cut (WireCut) a SubD model? Or do you need to reverse it back to NURBS to perform that operation

    Hi, i am a furniture designer and wanted to know whether i could model the general upholstered sofas in here...i am a rhino user but i got stuck after a point and dont really want to switch to 3ds max etc...does subd help?

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Před 3 lety

      yes, you can do that type of modeling with SubD

    How do you patch holes or quadrants after it becomes a mesh? Is there a way to get the patches tangent as well?

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Před 3 lety +1

      You’d use the mesh repair tools, or convert to subd and add some faces and stitch

    I am running the WIP on my MacBook Pro...when I run the SubD to NURBS command the results are curves only...any idea why this is occurring?

      not sure- send us a file and steps to reproduce to tech@mcneel.com

    Yeah, I don't see how to use this for jewelry workflows. We can't scan one section at a time, plus we're scanning things with lots of cavities and holes a scanner can't see into. Virtually all of our scans are used as ref geometry. We're either making something to match or recreating an original piece that has stones set in it. We do make a lot of shells by hand though.

      scan- quadremesh- edit with subd- tonurbs...is an amazing workflow for jewelry.

    Hi I would like to have my car design converted from Blender to Solidworks, through Rhino. Is this something you can assist with. SW can open Rhino files.

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Před rokem

      if the blender parts are mesh, you can export to rhino as an obj and convert to subd using the tosubd command. you can then convert to nurbs using the tonurbs command. then export to solidworks via step file. use ap214cc2 format.

    So is Rhino 7 exclusively a remeshing tool and plug for this dude's consultancy firm? Or is this not actually an introduction to Rhino 7

    • @Rhinoceros3d
      @Rhinoceros3d  Před 3 lety

      Rhino 7 is the latest version of Rhino. It’s fully functioning, this is just demoing one small feature of a much larger package.

    • @Rhinoceros3d

      Pnoy_ arki haven’t personally tried it, but rhino inside revit should allow everything rhino does.
      Test it and let me know!
