- trying to figure out what the problem is -- this is an update video
everything has been replaced on the motor and new fuel pump, wires and plugs, and all Elec parts on the intake. And vacuum lines have been gone through. - Jak na to + styl
3.9 has issues with intake plenum gasket which could give you a miss fire and it wont give you a code. They have a kit you can get that changes the plenum base plate from steel to aluminum.
already took motor apart and redid everything thanks for the idea.
Hello Ray! I hope you get it fixed and off your mind! I have a 1992 Dakota with 236,600 miles on it. Still runs good, but it does look beat up.
I enjoy driving it due to it being simple. I have had more issues with my 2005 Dakota 4.7 l than the ,92! Keep the videos coming!
Nothing worse than an intermittent problem. Hope it stays good.
Your truck has a factory on board code reader from the odometer display. Turn the ignition key on / off 3 times and the odometer should display any codes such as emissions, fuel etc. No need for a separate code reader.
yelp-- but didn't say anything about the O2 sensor -- all 4 where bad Part 2 explains that
God is good, all the time!
Having the same issue on a 01' 3.9l, no code! yet feels like 1 cylinder is misfiring.. very noticeable on idle and heavy load or turning.
Happened right after I replaced spark plugs, dist cap n' wires. But, I double checked and everything is hooked up right.
Replaced the air filter, idle air valve, pcv valve, fixed a cracked vacuum line end AND still have problem. Guess I'll try upstream 02 sensor and fiddle with injector wires, these are old trucks.
Let you know if anything changes.
been running perfect after changing o2
On some scanners they have a Live Feed besides codes. Shows pulse how engine is plus what cause.
This is type of scanners Dakota ram owners needs.
But could be bad injector map sensor throttle sensor idle sensor besides in take plenum.
you have too see the next video about the Dakota -- there is 4 o2 sensors I only replaced 2 to start lol. found the other 2 the next day. Runs like new now thanks for the comment
Plenum msnifold leak? Seals when warmed up cools off small leak can occur
@@michelmar6548 it was the o2 on the exhaust . I replaced all 4
I don't remember what all you've done to diagnose the truck, but remember you need spark, fuel, compression, and timing.
To find a dead cylinder, you can pull a plug wire one at a time. Observe how it's running when each one is pulled.
Try a fuel system treatment like Techron or Seafoam to help clean out the injectors.
Check compression of each cylinder to make sure one isn't low.
feel you on the info --- I was so focused on the problem I overlooked the other side lol -- there's 2 -->o2 on the driver's side lol there's 4 on this truck I only replaced the passenger side lol video coming.
Hopefully we'll get a resolution to the problem in the next video, then!
got it fixed -- run's good now
👍
Try emptying the gas tank and flush in it just trying to help
Injectors and all heard of a similar problem if the truck was sitting long worth a try I think I heard it for Scotty kilmer
i did a big stupid today --- think i got it fixed -- if it fixed it ill put up a video tomorrow thanks for your comment.
@@Raysmaintenance no worries looking forward to the video and 🙏ing you got her done..cool videos by the way.
got it fixed runs gooooooood
@@Raysmaintenance Glad to hear that what was it upload a vid when you can.
Are you feeding your pick up truck full of beans?
🤣😅🤣
O'Reilly will hook up a diagnostic tool for free grant you they can be teenagers but still I am watching the show happen most times it's simple sensors .
I know and I have done that but it's not a big scanner like the one the man had --- It's all fixed now and running good
It could be your battery isn’t charged enough
