This is by far one of the best videos from VICE I have seen in my opinion. I really appreciate the unbiased view of the event! I must admit I am a country guy who comes from this environment. I would really appreciate VICE doing more videos like this.

I think this is one of the most interesting VICE videos I have ever seen and I watch a lot of them. Coming from a guy that has shown and judged livestock for many many years I clicked on this video thinking it would be very opinionated and one sided, but I was shocked. this was a super dope video! as someone who grew up in california and never had this kind of stuff, so it was cool to see a “classic” american tradition taking place. makes me want to go out there and explore that part of american culture.

I think most of American culture is the same. I've lived in Iowa for more than half my life and only been to the state fair once.

The kids involved have to put a lot of work into their animals. I’ve never been to the Iowa State Fair but a few small country fairs. It’s impressive what they do.

I used to live in Des Moines, I live in Houston. I don't want to hear Iowans complain about heat. It is always hot here. I am moving back to Des Moines in the near future.

As an Iowan, he did a pretty poor commentary job. He straight up said he did not even like or understand half the things he was reporting on.
Truth. Heck I live in Des Moines and could do a way better job than he did
This looks almost identical to the Ohio State Fair right down to the ski lift thing-a-ma-bob and the butter sculptures.

The Iowa State fair is one of the best fairs in the country and super important to our local economy. It’s typically voted 2nd best (used to be the best fair in the country)
Yeah the butter cow is boring but it’s unique to Iowa’s fair, so it’s important because of the draw and revenue.
Also Iowa has 99 counties not 100.
Maybe do some more research about things instead of writing it off if you’re going to do a video on it Vice. But I don’t expect much from this source anyways..

@@TheBSMF yeah its gross. every unheslthy food is so cheap that's the problem. it Should be illegal to be that obese. Fortunately school lunches and young kids now are getting so much better food at public schools, i hope that helps the problem
Channing Laurens yeah, it’s unfortunate. I’m most of my family lives in the US and they are almost all overweight. Not simply because they don’t care, or have adequate resources to make better food choices, but because bigger bodies are so normalized there.
