I admire people who can learn to speak another language easily. I know very few people who speak a second language beyond a few basic words or phrases. English speaking people tend to be lazy at learning another language. They expect everyone to be able to speak English. That is one big reason why they love the Philippines over other Asian countries.........and of course the wonderful ladies.

Hi ma'am thank you for the lesson. I just have a couple of questions about the phrase "should it be" or "mao kana." what does it mean and could you give me some examples of when you would use it

    • @AuroraCash
      @AuroraCash  Před 4 lety +1

Mao kana can also means = THAT'S IT! in terms of questioning you could say "IS IT?" in Cebuano "Mao Ba?
      and
      Ingon ana= It seems.
When you want to say " It seems to be" in Cebuano "Mura ug Ingon Ana".

    OPINION:
CEBU IS A NICE BEAUTIFUL ISLAND IN THE REGION OF THE VISAYAS; PEOPLE ARE MOSTLY WHITE IN THE VISAYAS, SPECIALLY IN CEBU AND ITS NEARER ISLANDS.
CEBU IS WHERE CHRISTIANITY STARTED IN THE PBILIPPINES.
MOST AMERICANS WHO WERE ABLE TO GO AND LIVE THERE, SINCE THE END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR, SEEMED TO LIKE LIVING THERE.
THERE WAS AN EX-AMERICAN SOLDIER, AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR, WHO GOT MARRIED THERE, AND ESTABLISHED A NIGHT-CLUB CALLED, "EDDIE'S LOG CABIN", WHICH EXISTED FOR THREE DECADES, IT SEEMS, AND THE AMERICANS USED TO HANG OUT THERE FOR DINNER AND DRINKS, FOR CONVERSATIONS, AND TO SAY " HELLO" TO ONE ANOTHER.
IT'S KNOWN AS THE AMERICAN SOCIETY'S PLACE.
IT'S ALSO NEAR THE FORT, NEAR THE THREE CITY PIERS, WHICH ARE NEAR TO ONE ANOTHER, NEAR THE CITY MUNICIPALITY, AND ALSO NEAR TO THE STO. NINO BASILICA .
THE ISLAND OF CEBU IS A SEMI-URBAN PLACE; AND THE CEBUANOS WOULD LIKE TO ENJOY TO GO TO THE CITY, OR EVEN TO LIVE THERE, IF THEIR FAMILY LIVES AT THE TOWN, NORTH, OR SOUTH, WHICH IS QUITE FAR FROM THE CITY OF CEBU.
THE PEOPLE FROM MINDANAO WOULD LIKE TO BUY THEIR HOME NEEDS, OR HOUSE STAPLES AND FURNITURES IN CEBU; THEN THEY SHIPPED THE THINGS, THAY THEY HAD BOUGHT, TO MINDANAO.
THE ISLAND PROVINCE OF CEBU, CALLED " THE QUEEN CITY OF THE SOUTH", IS QUITE POPULAR.
THE PEOPLE USUALLY ENTER TO ENJOY THE MOVIE- HOUSES , WHERE, IN ONE AVENUE, CALLED COLON STREET, QUITE LONG AND WIDE ENOUGH, THERE ARE SEVERAL MOVIE HOUSES , FRONTING EACH OTHER.
THERE USED TO BE FIRST RUNS, AND IN OTHER STREETS, SOME SECOND DOUBLE-FEATURE RUNS.
THAT WAS. BEFORE , OR AFTER THE 1960S.
AT NIGHTS, THE PEOPLE AS A SMALL GROUP , YOUNG ONES OR OLDER, USUALLY WOULD LIKE TO ENTER SOME NIGHT- CLUBS TO ENJOY, AND TO LISTEN TO THE BIG BANDS, WITH SOME GRAND PIANOS, AND SOME POPULAR CITY CROONERS, OR SINGERS.
THEY ALSO ENJOY TO DRINK A LOT OF BOTTLES OF SAN MIGUEL BEER; OR SOME FEW GLASSES OF RUMS : THE POPULAR ONES WERE EITHER TANDUAY RUM, OR RUM CANA.
SOME MEN ALSO WOULD LIKE TO DANCE WITH SOME WOMEN, WHO WOULD LIKE ALSO TO DANCE.
PEOPLE OF OTHER ISLANDS FARTHER FROM THE VISAYAS ARE EARLY TO REST, AND THE PEOPLE THERE WORK AT THE RICE FIELDS, OR THE CORN FIELDS; OR AT THE SUGAR-CANE FIELDS.
THEN, THE YOUNG ONES WILL GET MARRY WITH THEIR NEAR NEIGHBORS; OR NEIGHBORS FROM OTHER PARTS OF THE HILLS, MOUNTAINS; OR BARRIOS BY THE RIVER-SIDES, NEAR THE MARKET PLACES.
THEY SEEM TO ENJOY THE SIMPLICITY OF THEIR RURAL LIFE.
A PARISH ASSISTANT PRIEST WILL VISIT ONE BARRIO TWO SUNDAYS IN A MONTH AT THEIR BARRIO CHAPEL TO OFFER A HOLY MASS, IN WHICH THE PEOPLE, OLDER FOLKS AND YOUNG ONES, WILL GLADLY GO TO ATTEND, AND TO HEAR THE SERMON OF THE PRIEST; TO GO TO CONFESSION, AND TO TAKE THE HOLY COMMUNION.
THEY LOOK HAPPY, SEEING EACH OTHER AROUND THE CHAPEL'S SURROUNDING PLACES.
HERE IN THE STATES, THE HILLY, OR MOUTAIN PEOPLE IN TENNESSEE SEEM TO REMIND YOU OF THEM.
THE TENNESSEANS ARE TOTALLY SEMI- URBANITES, BUT THEY LIKE TO LIVE IN TENNESSEE, BECAUSE THEY LIKE TO LIVE IN THE HOMESTEADS, BY THE HILLS, WITH MORE EXTRA SMALL FIELDS, THAT THEY CAN BUY AND ACQUIRE QUITE EASILY, AND THEIR NEIGHBORS ARE ALSO WHITE EUROPEANS, WHO LIKE TO LIVE IN RURAL SIMPLICITY.
