      @@pranayavnish8028 You would create much more music on a mobile iPad (in your pocket) using mobile apps *on-the-go* than you would ever create on a stationary DAW where you get tied up to a desk (most of my projects were created 100% on iPad).
      The point is - use the right tool for specific tasks. Keyboards and workstations have their uses - otherwise, Roland would not release this flagship Fantom workstation and you would not be watching these videos. Your laptop's battery may die or the DAW may crash during a live gig but a Keyboard will never let you down.

  • @JeffBoen
    @JeffBoen Před 4 lety +15

    Just got my F6 last weekend. Don't forget, in Song mode you can just tell it to repeat each group X number of times... so no need to drop each section in multiple times. You could have just dropped each one in once and then set the repetitions in the Song mode. But yeah, this thing is *so* fast for getting ideas down... exactly why I bought it.

    • @octavio-blues-sound3022
      @octavio-blues-sound3022 Před rokem

      But ... It seems that it doesn't have a built-in rhythm section or a drums machine, I mean, some more "natural" drums patterns... not exactly an "electronic" one...
      Am I wrong...???

    • @JeffBoen
      @JeffBoen Před rokem +1

      @@octavio-blues-sound3022 It does have a "drum machine". There are natural drum sets as well as complete 606, 626, 707, 808 and 909 kits, along with *tons* of other electronic drum tones (and you can even sample your own). There is a "rhythm section" as well, where you can choose from preset patterns in various styles just to give you a beat to play along with, or you can build your own patterns in either standard MIDI recording mode (quantized or non-quantized) or in "TR Record" mode where you input your beats in the 16 beat button method like the old 808/909. Granted, you may mean it isn't a "drum machine" in that you don't have velocity sensitive pads to play live like on a TR-8S, etc. but you do have the keyboard for that. If you need to create drum grooves you absolutely can do anything you can imagine.

      Cutoff automation is easy, just assign any of the assignable knobs/sliders/wheels to CC74 (Cutoff). Unfortunately you cannot do it with the dedicated knobs on the right side of the screen. You'll just get the basic 128 steps of granularity from standard MIDI instead of the 1024 that the dedicated cutoff/resonanse/adsr knobs on the right offer.

    I keep trying to find How Tos on simply recording real-time playing and all the videos are instructionals on how to record and trigger patterns. Can someone make a video on simply recording the keyboard in a "capture what you hear" environment? For instance if I play a 3-4 minute piano instrumental I want to record all of that into a track and save it, then go back and add drum, strings, effects and other tracks to it later if I want while I hear that instrumental playing underneath. I dont want any looping and I have no idea how long my instrumental will last. It might be 3:45 or it might be 3:53. I basically just want a track to record me playing with no bars or loops. This seems like the most obvious use of the sequencer but nobody is explaining how to do it.

    [QUESTION] I can't find the answer to this question anywhere in the manuals, online forums or here on YT. My Fantom-8 was ordered last Wednesday and as of today, left Chicago International bound for Southern California via Air Freight. I'm so excited! Now the mystery question that I'm hoping any Fantom 6,7,8 owners could answer for me. Can I export my work via USB as a multitrack file directly into my desktop DAW (Samplitude Pro X5) where I can record my vocals over my track and complete final mixing and mastering out into Soundforge Pro 14?
    I'm wondering if my Fantom will be able to send all of my track elements separately straight into Samplitude so I could fine tune, edit and mix? I'm thinking if this is not possible I could just record each element separately track by track into Samplitude and mix everything that way.

    A question for you: At 4:15, you started recording on track B-1 and A-1 was kept, not erased. How did you do that? When I try to record something else, like you did (A-1, B-1), it either gets the previous recording (A-1) deleted or it mixes both A-1 & B-1. I'm having serious headaches with this recording system.

      @@braintraxmusic hi Braintrazmusic! You can select an InitScene memory (in the bank D there are plenty), and you do have a blank scene (with no seq) to start from scratch! Wish you a lot of inspiration with Fantom!

    Hey Max, thank you for the inspiring content. I have the F8. I can’t seem to get the velocity to go to 100 never mind trying to get it to 127. My playing is always too quiet. Do you find that this is the case for you? It might be my velocity curve. It’s set to medium, but even when I change it to light it still seems like I need to press uncomfortably hard on the keys to get max velocity.

    HI max, lovely tune, I notice you stopping playback when you change track, is this necessary, or can you change tracks during recording?

      Dear Gareth, hope you are ok. You do not need to stop the playback in the recording process. It is up to you, you can use the Fantom as a no stop 16 tracks MIDI loopstation too, beside the classic usage. I hope to. see you soon. M

    I believe to save this project, you’ll need to save few new tones as well as scene, because you’ve modified some synth controls knobs, which affects tones. Or maybe there’s a way to keep it under scene save only?

    • @maxfattori5540
      @maxfattori5540  Před 4 lety +1

      great question! In reality, on the Wah wah guitar sound, already the effect can receive the CC01 (modulations) from the preset Tone. I've used all Zen-Core presets, so saving the Scene is all what you should do.

      Max Fattori Max Fattori i mean on drums for example, you’ve changed parameters whilst creating step-sequence drums and used knob to improve hi-hat and also used filters knobs too, this all makes star logo appearing under tone. I’ve tried this way and always needed to save both scene and each tone affected, otherwise if you load scene next time you’ll get factory settings. Thanks for your reply!

      @@EdgarUmryan : great spot, and Fantom knowledge! you can in this case record cutoff and reso inside the track, even just on the HiHat (assigning CC71 and CC74 to different controllers, like knob, or wheel, or S buttons) so that in the song you have all you need, and this allows you to save just the Scene.. :-)

    Hi Max, I’m wondering … 🤔 a few questions : is there a limitation in memory, how many scenes can you store in the Fantom that includes a whole song and how fast can you loading a song ? Is it possible to import midi data from your DAW inside the Fantom (should be)? Is it possible to play wave files (from a usb I suppose) multiple stems and sync with internal clock … 😊 I’m pretty sure that a lot of musicians want to know that.

      I can give an answer on 3. yes we can import midi sequences into the daw and record them on the fantom. I do it with fl studio. I open tracks out 1 out 2 and etc etc and as soon as I run reading in fl studio i'm making a recording on fantom. Hoping it's understandable.

      You have 512 scenes in the Fantom. then you can back up then (so each back up loaded can have 512 scenes). Yes, You can import MIDI files inside Fantom Sequencer
