The Atheist Community of Austin is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization based in Austin, Texas. The Atheist Community of Austin is dedicated to promoting atheism, critical thinking, secular humanism, and the separation of religion and government.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Which is another good reason to reject Christianity because every Christian have their own interpretation of God and the Bible. Christians in general just take what they like in the Bible and dismiss what they don't like and say it's a metaphor or "that's OT stuff it's about the NT!" "It's about context!" I was brought up Christian as a child, had doubts, then became a Christian again as an adult. As soon as I questioned my reasons for believing, I realized I had none. Now I'm atheist as a result. I see no good reason to be a theist.

My Dad is a hardcore Christian and our conversations sound exactly like this. It is depressing that even when you point out how illogical a religious person's position is, they somehow remain unconvinced. I can't comprehend how some religious people seem to be so intelligent in some areas but turn their brain off when you show them contradictions in their scripture.

It’s an allegory to Jesus being your saviour and saving you. If a firefighter is there to save you from a house fire, why would you reject that help? God is there to save you whether you accept that help or not.

Something I haven’t seen touched on was that Adam and his trans clone Eve were introduced into the world as fully formed adults that didn’t have the benefit of a childhood where most reinforcement for right and wrong is ingrained. Leaving them to their own devices would be equivalent to leaving a toddler unsupervised then holding the toddler accountable for any actions you didn’t approve of that the toddler may have done. Secondary until they ate the apple right and wrong would be as foreign to them as us knowing what precisely is at the center of a black hole. In a court proceeding I think it would be very difficult to hold mud man and his clone accountable but the being that was inherently responsible for them it would absolutely be convicted of negligence.

But even as Christian (Catholic) my mom always told me that the crazy stories in the bible who are magical and contradict science, we're not real. Just allegories. I mean, even as Christian, between 6 and 15 I have always been told these stories were rubbish. It makes no sense to me that grown up people believe this crap.

On top of that, demons will torture you. Whatever sin you committed on earth, you will be grouped w/ those people and tormented by demons FOREVER that actually get high on your pain. If you’re not screaming loud enough, demons come to you to fix it.

Christianity revealed the God they believe in through their Bibles. Isaiah 45:7 “I form the light, and create darkness, I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord that do all these things". From Genesis through Revelation Christianity's God reveals himself to be insecure, indecisive, intolerant, destructive and genocidal. And it all started when we chose knowledge.
Right, think about it. It's almost an unconscious metaphor. The more we learn, the more we become, the less need we have for a master, or a savior. I don't think the people that made these stories up understood this - but we can. The things we attributed to a being outside of time and space are now quantified, codified, explained. We know more about the universe we find ourselves in every day. That's why so many of the uneducated or undereducated cling to faith - they can't conceive of a world outside of the stories they internalized.
