This vid replaces an earlier one because i found more material. Didnt know how to edit on youtube so reloaded newer version. If you have details or know of something i dont have on the topic, let me know. Thanks, merci, cảm ơn

Thank you Brian Dockery for spending your time and effort in making this video. I'm a Vietnamese American living in the states and this videos gives me a sense of pride in what my Vietnamese people had achieved and accomplished during both peace and war time, in whichever adopted country they're serving under. Keep up the effort. Be steadfast. Always achieved for a better tomorrow. Vietnamese pride worldwide!

Very cool, I have only ever seen stills never this. My father talked about how they learned about modern warfare from 2 wars even had their own war college. He found them in the 65-66 and said he had nothing but respect for them and their fighting abilities.

My people had no idea what the purpose of the war they got dragged into then. It’s very emotional to see all those faces fell down in a strangers land so far away from their homeland. Nowadays not so many of their descendants knew they even existed. The lost cause I would suppose.
**interesting fact regardless of French colonial, the origin Vietnamese language was shaped by French combining the old Chinese and the English alphabet.

Great historical archive, thank you Mr. Dockery for putting the time to make the video. Hung, they were exploited, fought in a meaningless war for their colonial masters, nothing to be proud about.

Hello Brian Dockery, I am a Journalist working on a documentary on the role of Vietnam in World War-1. This includes details about Vietnamese factory workers/soldiers who was a part of the French army during WW1. Will you have details to share that can be included in the documentary? Any descendant families living in Vietnam whose ancestors were part of the Great War? Where can I email you? Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

Reports that the French also brought Cambodians in the War. They never formed the Colonial Laotian troops though.
