@@313Martin Nothing smart about him. He grew up learning 5 languages in Belgium (as most of the Belgian population do) and used that knowledge to study a couple more. It's super easy for him solely because of where he grew up.

He makes the interview fully in Portuguese and he speaks very well. It was impressive because he said that he learnt just talking with Brazilian players and watching TV.

He's Belgian - French, Dutch and English are like all official there.
In Belgium, the languages spoken are Dutch, French or German, depending on the region. The three different regions are called the Communities and although we learn English at school it is not an official language! Lukaku grow up in Brussel went in a flemish school and outside school his football friends were speaking french ! English, Italian and spanish came later when he moved to England, Italy...

Most of us speak at least 3 languages in Belgium, Lukaku speaks 7 so that’s still double the norm

Some comments are frompeople that really don't understand what is football. The guy is a hell of a player, any team would be happy to have him. The others that talk a little doesn't have money to afford him. So far he's having a great career
I always laugh when people equate speaking multiple languages to a person being smart overall. Yes it’s definitely a form of intelligence ( a certain part of the brain, called the broca area that is more developed in certain people).
