My personal favorite Martin moment is when it’s revealed he’s not actually a 10 year old but, in fact, a 34 year old man with a wife and two children.
Shouldn't this change how we perceive everything he has done? It's all an uncover act, kinda like Jar Jar being a secret sith lord.
@@s13customs oh. Oh you’re trying to connect lore.
In the words of the writer:
*please stahp*
@@virtueofabsolution7641 lol, ok, ok, maybe Jar Jar sith lord was a little much.
How’s that his parents if he’s actually like 36 wit kids and wife
Wait wouldn't this imply him beating his bullies in the movie was him committing a crime against minors? I know its not meant to be consistent, but still its an odd thought.
The pairing I like is Martin and Nelson. One kid who's desperate to appear tough and conceal his sensitive side and another who's nothing but sensitive side. It's comedy gold.
The loved that moment when we found out that Nelson and Martin were friends at space camp. Wish we got more of those moments haha
I think it's more complete than that: The video points out that Martin has a surprising amount of backbone and a bit of a psychotic bent at times.
So while Nelson is desperate to appear tough and conceal a sensitive side, Martin exuberates sensitivity that belies his toughness. They really are the perfect character pairs.
One reason why it works so well is because, to some extent, I think it reflects reality. According to my theory, bullies are not so much mean as they are sexually confused. Seeing Martin's underpants exposed at various points in this video drove the point home for me. Wedgies, pantsings, pink bellies - all pretty kinky stuff. Is it so far-fetched to say that the worst bullies are repressed homosexuals, impelled by a tortured emotional cocktail of perversion, self-loathing and aggression? Maybe their "hate boners" just outweigh their actual boners. (The same would go for female bullies, only without the "boner" part.)
True
@@SeasideDetective2 holy mother of what theory is that XD. Most bullies are victims of home abuse, not repressed homosexuals, most of the time repressed homosexuals tend to be homophobic towards gays, but not bullies because they tend to want to blend with the background and not be noticed, jus be one of the guys...
Man, Martin was an interesting character in The Simpsons. Have may not been the best but did at times put a smile on our faces
R.I.P. Martin's voice actress, Russi Taylor 1944 - 2019
She will be missed 😟
I grew up on Russi Taylor's voice..from Ducktales, to Muppet Babies to Simpsons. An amazing voice actress.
Grey Griffin's been doing Russi proud.
Loved Russi Taylor. Too bad, the casting management, or writers, didn't find an actor with a similar voice to have Martin to move forward to amazing story line.
My social media pal Grey DeLisle took over for Russi
In my opinion, the reason Martin became more of a background character can be summed up simply that his role was taken over by someone else. He was the academic foil to Bart, but as the show progressed that role was taken over by Lisa, since Bart and Lisa also had the complexities of a sibling rivalry in addition to academic ones when it arose, therefore whatever Martin brought to the table just was sort of bland in comparison, or would take more work to establish their connection.
I like it how in the Simpsons it's not just about archetypes They become more fleshed out characters And have personality works and wholesome parts about them What is Nelson caring about people in Martin being maniacal Two different but similar roles for them
Yeah because Nelson is actually pathetic and Martin is weird manic.
Except for when it's flanders..
@@hehehaha1820 And many others unfortunately...
My two favourite Martin Prince.
Blowing Nelson's cover by addressing him as though they were still at space camp (least Nelson had the courtesy to address him as "commander" after the gut punch)
And his demand of "What brand of Poppycock is this miscreant feeding you MADAM?" When Marge asks Bart "is this the boy who copies your work?"
Plus bonus shout out to psycho Martin in the recent episode where the bullies, Bart and Martin have to get to ankle Rock. So nice to see Bart get called out!
Great vid as always
I’m going to be brutally honest I never really liked Martin Prince. During the show I found him to be quite annoying, but also rude to Lisa as she was the only person who was at his intelligence level making her his competition, but overtime I started pitying him. When you have a show with a large cast of characters sometimes characters get left behind and have a lack of development due to focusing on the main cast characters. It’s sad that Martin was one of those characters who was left behind, but thankfully that episode on the wilderness trip really gives you a different perspective on Martin as he struggles to please his parents and feels ashamed by this going a bit of the edge, but him talking back to his parents really shows how far he’s come to being a teacher’s pet.
I agree.
I usually never found a nerd character annoying, I generally lived the nerd life myself growing up, but Martin was extremely unlikable to me as a kid. The show did kind of a unique take on the nerd, making us feel like the bullies do, when they are annoyed by nerds.
Boo to you! Martin Prince is DA BEST
Martin kind of looks like Nelson in a way
Martin is an interesting character because I absolutely can’t stand him when he’s being S-M-R-T in class but he’s actually fun when he’s hanging out with other characters (Lemon of Troy and Bart on the Road being fun episodes)
When we first saw him..he was an annoying nerdy glad handing teacher's pet..but he really grew and evolved as the seasons went on...especially calling out Bart for being an asshole.
Yeah
My favorite Martin Prince moment was after he was injuried the soapbox derby, he convinces Bart to drive car and after Bart wins and is goading. Martin points out that The driver is essentially ballast.
😂 I rewatched that the other day. Lots of great Martin moments in that episode
Martin really has changed a lot over the years for sure it says something to the quality of his growth and depth as a character! Fantastic as always Lydia!
Thank you Josh
I really like his secret friendship with Nelson "But we went to space camp together, I held your hair back when you threw up in the simulator.
In a Christmas future episode Lisa discovers he became Martin Princess
In Bart of Darkness we learned his mom was a shoplifter "My Mom shoplifts. All the time. Stuff she doesn't even need."
Dial N for Nerder is my favorite episode about him
I love their secret friendship too. I wish we got more little things between
not that it really matters, but "marcia princess"
@@modelomegatyler Thank you for the correction, It had been a while since I had seen that episode and was going from memory.
@@restionSerpentine eh, glad my nitpicking ended up helping.
@@modelomegatyler which episode is that?

😂 Haha thanks Carter
Lol
Well he can't sue because you can't copyright it
@@johnree6106 I’m pretty sure it could be trademarked. Not a copyright but a similar thing
@@mikeharrison6039 Logos can be trademarks but if I remember correctly there was a case where a company said it trademarks a Sentence and the court found that you can't trademark or copyright a Sentence. You can a logo with a Sentence but not just the sentence itself.

NOW I'LL BE QUEEN OF SUMMER TIME!!! I mean king. Classic
I’d love to see a video on mr Smithers, I’ve always found him so interesting. Love your videos!
Same
I know right? I would save and replay that constantly. But it seems she will do EVERYONE ELSE before smithers
@@Devngel653 to this day Im still waiting on a timeline about Otto my favorite supporting character
I think what makes Martin so fascinating is the fact he has a dark psychotic side to him that comes out when he's pushed over the edge. Literally could become the next Sideshow Bob
Tbh I would love to have a friend like Martin, he seems like a very funny yet educated person, plus he had that evil little rivalry with Lisa so it would've been funny to see unfold 😁
Martin is a very interesting character, he's basically the opposite of Bart, while Bart is show to be rebellious and rowdy on the outside, on the inside he's very weak and sensitive, and while Martin mostly acts positive, logical and even childish, he too has a dark side that rivals Bart's. I always enjoy whenever these particular character interact and have episodes about just the two of them and it's fun the way they play off each other, Martin is a little similar to Milhouse as Bart knows that they both respect him a lot and he often uses this to his advantage, but out of the two, Martin knows how to stand up to himself while Milhouse is just seen as the nerdy awkward sidekick. Martin has been shown that he can hold his own and if pushed too far can get very serious. Out of all of Bart's closest friends, Martin is definitely one of the most underused, if not the most since his friend group consist of Milhouse, Ralph, Nelson on occasion, and of course Martin. Milhouse and nelson get a lot of dedicated episodes explaining their goals, their backstories and negative home lives, Ralph never really gets this kind of development since he's all comic relief and nothing else, yet at the same time he gets a lot more screen time and episodes centering around him than Martin does despite Martin being more interesting in about every way. I like that the creators are thinking of covering new ground with this character in particular because a lot of the episodes that came out a couple years back didn't really focus on the supporting characters as much the main family while most the secondary characters are a lot more interesting the the actual main family themselves. Martin's family life is starting to blossom and it's cool to see just how much of a negative influence his parents leave on their son, they don't allow their kid to be a kid and just force him to train his brain 24/7 with little to no breaks. It now makes since why Martin never gets too many interesting stories that aren't in the school, it's because he can't go anywhere that isn't school since he's forced to study day in and day out. if Martin got an entire season of character development, I'd jump head over heels because he is such an underdeveloped and underused character that it stings.
I have to say, Grey DeLisle Griffin does a superb job of voicing M. P. nowadays, I just can't tell the difference. I say that, of course, with sincere deference and prodigious affection to and for Russi Taylor, R. I. P. ❤️
Martin has a lot of potential to create good episodes.
Absolutely! I hope we see more of him
You forgot to mention Martin’s voice actor passing and the thanksgiving of horror being her last episode
love your videos keep up the good work
Martin and Nelson should get an episode dedicated to those two alone, they play off each other very well. The brains and brawn, if you will.
Martin is definitely a unique character to say the least. Really iconic for sure!
I always love your vids and content
Martin was never a character who stood out to me, but after watching the Season 33 episode where he was trapped in the wilderness with Bart I really noticed just how depressing his character was.
Always trying to set a good example and be perfect for his parents, never truly being able to be himself or explore things he actually wants to do. Him calling out Bart for being a conformist was also a great scene.
S33 in general has taken interesting paths with less developed characters, and even the Hillbilly Margaret who’s played off for a joke most of the time got a surprising story developing her intellect, and going against the values expected of a hillbilly. Something her Husband Cletus takes time to process realistically and accept.
Martin is actually a undercover Cop. 😂
Your video always make my day good luck
Favourite upload Sunday!
Just recently they retconned Martin as a 30+ year old father working undercover for the police 😂
Please explain?
That wasn't canon.
He's one of those characters that I didn't think much of when I started the show but he grew on me! Also the fact that one future episode had him implied to have come out as a trans woman. I know those aren't really canon but I really hope they'll explore that more.
Regardless, he's a cute kid. Needs a hug. Poor lil overachieving dork... Russi Taylor's voice for him is super fitting, and Grey Griffin does an incredible job too! I didn't expect her to get as close to Russi's voice as she did?
I liked this video! All your Simpsons videos are good and got me interested in watching the show in full. I'm at season 9 now and enjoying the heck out of it. Keep up the good work! 💖
I think you should turn this into a series so it can be different characters relationships with other characters like homer and hank Scorpio or Bart and Nelson
Bart and Nelson would be a really interesting video. Show his growth from bully to friend
i love these timeline videos, it must be hard to go through all the episodes to find information about the characters
i love all of your videos
Thanks Julia
Awesome video breakdown. 😎
I really like your videos I appreciate your enthusiasm and love of the Simpsons.
Thank you, that means alot ☺️
I'm a new subscriber and I lover your videos (I'm subscribed to both of you're channels)
Love your channel best of luck
Another great video
Thanks you for your video and channel
I really watching these videos on Sunday. Also Martin is just so underrated on the show. In my opinion
I love the Simpsons. This is my favorite channel
I personally believe that, if The Simpsons was a show with an overarching plot for, each of the family members, then part of Bart’s plot could revolve around the friend group of him, Milhouse, Nelson and Martin, it would be interesting to see how episodes revolving around them would play out, considering how each boy has a different personality and home life.
he is a police detective now lol
“Later teen years.” Clever pun. Now that the Simpsons has fully matured as a 33 year adult it can actually pick up the slack am I right?
Hello nice too see a video about Martin prince!
Martin introduced a child me to Frank Sinatra when he sang "Summer Wind" in an early season.
He's an undercover cop lmao
I love the road trip episode with the wig sphere
One of my favourites
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel
Thank you
Hark to the tale of Lydia and the channel we love so dear!
Martin has always been a fave character for me to see in episodes just cause he's just being himself and even bullies can't prevent that.
Great video
Thanks!
I think Boyz In the Highlands a sort of send off for Martin since his voice actress died
I thought after Russi Taylor's passing like Edna Krabappel's actress, the character would disappear into memory, but grey delisle has revived the character for him to be in more episodes, and I'm glad that has happened.
This is my new favorite video
Yay 😁🙏
For Halloween last year I dressed up as Martin at 1:46! Always loved his costume in this ep, and it is my favorite Treehouse of Horror episode
I loved the episode Dial N for Nerder and Martin's role is played to perfection.
Great video. Martin is very interesting
In the episode that aired tonight, May 1st, the same day that this video was posted it's revealed that Martin has an older brother. It seems so late in the game that Martin could have a brother who was never seen or mentioned in the last 33 years but I guess he's not close enough to Bart where it seems implausible to not know this as it would be with Milhouse. Incidentally I always thought Milhouse should have a mean older sister, like Shelly on South Park. It would be so fitting for him but of course there'd be no way to work it in now.
Russi was so damn incredibly, talented.
Poor Martin. He's a unique kid and got influenced that being bad is good
All great episodes!
Martin is a great underrated character
Thank you you finally did it for him. Can you make a timeline for bart but instead of his greatest moments please if you are ok with this could you do his top 10 worse to best pranks?
I love him he is my ABSOLUTE favourite character. He’s so cute & I just want so much more of him 🙏🥺
"40 whacks with the wet noodle bart" takes on whole new meaning with you pointing out his flamboyance.
He seems to have risen again
he is a pilar character indeed! i loved when he turned into bart while helping bart to study hahahaha
Hi I'm new to your channel and I just came across this video, great video by the way!
But I had one question and I'm so sorry if you get this alot. Do you do voice work for Watch Mojo?
Martin and Chief Wiggins son Ralph are my favorites! Ralph is just the cutest!
I ❤️ this video and channel
Find out he is a grown man undercover cop.
An update now that they made him to be an undercover cop...
I notice in the old episodes we saw things from Bart’s perspective. But Bart can also be a jerk. If Bart owned Martin in the older seasons, people would find it satisfying, but both Bart and Martin developed. Now some might find it satisfying with Martin putting Bart in his place.
Lydia deserves more recognition for her channel it's should be at a million sub by now because it's good content updated
Aw thanks so much Christopher ☺️🙏
I love the road trip episode.
I LOVE the road trip episode
Getting knocked off a cliff tends to mess you up, even if it was an accident...
I love the episodes where Bart/Nelson/Milhouse/Martin are together. It reminds me of Stand By Me meets the Breakfast Club. 4 boys from 4 different backgrounds coming together...
They make a iconic good quartet
There's further examples of Martin Prince in the future, like he survived a horrible science fair explosion and was permanently disfigured, a la "Phantom of the Opera" and it's hinted at that he (or rather "she") underwent a sex change and is now "Marcia Princess".
He's an old undercover cops
Grey Delise voice makes still think that Russi Taylor is still alive she’s on point with Martins voice
Rip russi Taylor ❤️
Nice tribute.
I've always enjoyed episodes that have Martin in it even if they don't have him in many or in large roles
Never thought about it.....but Martin is definitely under used!
I like Martin he has a unique personality!
Crazy to think that most of this episode has been changed now we know he’s an undercover cop
If there is a Disney prince, wouldn’t Martin Prince be the Fox prince?
Good morning from where I live my friend Lydia
Nobody
Martin when he snaps: LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE S-
Martin has Book Smarts but not Street Smarts. He has much to learn...
gotta love martin.
I love the blow joke where Lisa ends up saying he’s not going to get it Bart 😂
I love Bart, Nelson, Martin, and Milhouse all together 😂Lol! If they would throw in Ralph all interacting with each other in some episodes that would be an Epic classic!
Bart, Milhouse, Nelson, & Martin make a iconic good quartet.
@@TheHatGuy1500 I know. I like them in the episode where they have a car🚗. & The lemon tree🌳🍋 episodes. Seeing those kids together is Funny AF! Lol 😂
LMAO. Martin is the butters of Simpsons.
While I was watching this I randomly heard the Simpsons intro…
The road-trip episode is my favourite
Ever noticed that in the UK at least, every office with more than say 10 people working in it has a guy called Martin?
Martin's best line: "40 whacks with a wet noodle, Bart".
It's so weird watching someone talk about Martin Prince because me and him share the same first name, same spelling and everything
I always like to think Martin ended up like the phantom of the opera from Lisa's future.
