  • The 2023 Audlem Festival of Transport was our 16th year of taking part in this classic car show & parade, the 24th occurrence of this popular classic cars event in Cheshire.
In previous years we've taken cars such as our old Standard Super 10, Austin A40 Devon, Morris Minor, Volvo PV444 and others, all now long-gone. For this year's Audlem Festival of Transport we took the Dodge pickup and MX5 Mk1, with dad also attending in his MGB GT.
The format of this transport festival was as in previous years - the cars gather at Hankelow opposite the White Lion pub, then at a set time the road is briefly closed enabling the parade of classic cars and other vehicles to drive the couple of miles down to the show field in Audlem itself, where the cars re-congregate for the remainder of the day.
Hundreds of people turned out as usual to wave the cars through, and a jolly day was had.
Highlights of this year's Audlem Festival of Transport for us included the impressive Bedford lorry and boat(s) combination, a fine assortment of 1950s/1960s Fords (plus 1917 Model T pickup), MG1300, pre-war BSA and Standard saloons, Range Rover ambulance and Bond Equipe, but there were also many others that caught our eye as this video will demonstrate.
The video itself starts with preparing the Dodge and its "cargo" (a 1960s Lotus racing car originally installed on a funfair ride) for the event, plus a few other updates regarding old cars and things here at OCC HQ. We then head over to Hankelow, take a look at the classic cars as they arrived, head off in the parade, then walk around the show field in Audlem to see what we'd missed earlier. We also head down to the canal to admire a gathering of historic narrowboats, ogle a fine vintage Austin saloon and 1910s char-a-banc, and then return to the main event via the centre of Audlem village itself, taking in a few of the fine old buildings.
I'll include a link at the end of this upload to the 2022 Audlem Festival of Transport and other classic cars shows we've been to lately.

What a great day for a village event 👍 my three to take home, 1 the VW split screen two tone campervan with the cushions, very nice, 2, the early red Ford Capri excellent example 3, The early large fin Alpine, very cute. Nice to see it completely original including wheels.
As for naming ones vehicles, stick to little Dodge and big Dodge it suits them. The royal navy truck towing the boat, the boats name was Gillian and the little boat on the flatbed of the truck was named Gill, hence little Gill and Big Gill. Don't ask me why but each vehicle I've ever owned have had nicknames. Sad git that I am 😂
Looking forward to your next video already Richard 👍

Being in Canada I enjoy watching British car events on CZcams. It seems much more civilized than in North America. Nice location for this show and I really love the Dodge truck. Owning a 49 Chev pickup I guess old trucks must be in my blood.
    Good video, thanks.

Me again , there are many MGs at the shows. I watch other people's recordings of British car shows and there are always lots of them. The must be many MG car clubs in the UK. I liked the silver grey colored one with the red soft top. Very nice indeed. There's a British chap who lives in the same city here as me ,and he drives a lovely red MG with the black rubber bumpers.

Wait... look like your parking brake handle is missing-- so, never mind!...Ours needed new fenders, as they were banged up from acting as "curb feelers" for 30 years, and they were rusted out just above the curled edges at the bottom, so that's something to watch out for, and another place to watch is the sides of the box, just behind the cab, which rusted through-- from the inside, I believe. When I sanded down the doors, I found Worcester (Massachusetts) Power & Light decals on them, so it had an honorable history. In the States, Dodge advertised their Truck line as "Job-Rated", meaning they had a model appropriate for every need.

Super video and such a friendly meet! Remarkable variety of cars, with the taxi and charabanc being the highlight for me. Despite the pre-war entries I have to choose the mustard yellow GT6 with that silky smooth straight six. The really nice dark blue Wolseley 1500 brought back memories of my dear old Grandpa who had the same model in the same dark blue. At the start of the video your Standard was looking super smart! You talk about oily-ragging the Dodge - how about a feature on you carrying out the work?

Admire your quick and knowledgable, stream of consciousness comments, and love your truck. We had a '41 Dodge pickup back in the mid 1970s, which was an absolute blast. Our dog loved the crank-open windshield (although the drool flew everywhere in the wind). It wasn't happy above 50 mph, so we kept mostly to two-lane roads. One bit of caution: if you forget to disengage the contracting, drum-style parking brake on the drive shaft, it may start to smoke through the floor slot, and the gas tank is but a hand or two away. I may be gilding the lilly, but my hazy memory is of a small fire breaking out (if that's possible). I did pull over and stop the smolder by throwing roadside dirt into the mechanism! They are tough, unbreakable vehicles with happy toad faces that love the countryside. Enjoy!

An OCC video longer than a Hollywood epic I had to watch with a couple of pauses and I haven't checked if Harley as uploaded one today yet so that is a chunk of Sunday morning taken up if he has. That looks a great day out and an excellent meet and road run and somewhere I would like to get to next year. I do remember the last video you did and the very friendly appreciation shown by everyone who was watching parade go by. Definitely one for my bucket list. The cars speak for themselves. The guy who looks after my Mercs races Caterhams as a hobby. I had a P 1975 MK3 Cortina 2000E which I loved . Silver with blue velour interior, black vinyl roof with sunroof and all the wood. My first car as I have said before i believe was an MG1100. HJ could do a lot worse than getting an MG 1100 or 1300.

Hi 👋 I like your Dodge truck. It has good character. I like Walter that sounds very American for a name. Maybe you could call it Yankee. You eating a bagel, i first tried them in America when i holidayed there in the 1980s. We are still in winter here in New Zealand. It hasn't been too bad , very dry. Your Standard 8 is a good example , i think i have told you that my grandfather owned one in the early sixties, i think it was a Standard 10 though , but in the same shape. It was a 1950s model. Great show of cars as usual thanks.

Thank you yet again for another fascinating Video. You posed a question about the P3 Rover & its metal Disc Wheels. So As I have a distinct interest in the Rover 12 I looked things up. The Disc Wheels were first offered as an option in 1939. Making you almost correct. It would be very unlikely to come across a P2 Rover with Disc Metal Wheels that is Pre-War. The P2 was in production from 1937 till 1948 & superseded by the P3. They both exist in Saloon & Sportsman body type, with a handful of soft top ones. The two models are more different than they look. The P3 being 1/2" wider on the outside & 2 1/2" on the inside. The P3 wheelbase is 4 1/2" shorter with only a half length chassis. The rear suspension being supported buy the body & it has independent front suspension. Also, different L head engines in just two capacities. A 4 cylinder of 1.6Lt & a six Cylinder of 2Lt. giving the 60 & 75. The P2 was Rover, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 20, all overhead valve units. I know my Fathers 12 Sportsman Saloon was the first one made with the wheel sat inside the boot lid. Hence, my interest in these cars.
I was watching another Video about A40 Farina's by a member of the A40 Farina Club. It appears that very few Farina's are left. a small % of the A30/A35's. This is clearly why you are seeing so few this year.

Can you try to get out of the habit of putting your hand and fingers over the camera lens? Get a selfie stick to hold the camera further away if that helps. A lot of youtube people started doing this recently, all covering the lens and blocking what the camera is seeing. It just makes it look unprofessional and we expect better!
The frame rate is not too good either, youtube doesn't deal with it very well.
It might help if you can watch the video before uploading and it will give a chance to correct the errors.

I'm sorry that it didn't come up to your professional expectations. However at no time do I describe myself as a professional videographer. I am merely an amateur car enthusiast walking around with a camera, so perhaps a little context might help when preparing to watch any upload on YT, not just my own.

In all the years I have watched uploads on YT, at no time have I thought it necessary to disrupt a channel's success by clicking the down button. I simply click away and watch something else. Useful feedback is however welcomed, yes even negative so long as it is posted in a constructive manner. As you are likely to be disappointed in a great many of my uploads, and I cannot risk multiple down votes which is a big deal when it comes to the YT algorithm and how it ranks videos and channels, I think it best that you no longer watch any of my £free-to-view uploads as clearly (ref your other comment) I cannot achieve the top-level professional output that you require.
