    I just got my first one in the mail the other day I have a 2020 Nissan Sentra Im going to do a custom build I want 4 of these in my build jl audio is a great brand but unfortunately it’s over rated and over priced rite now I have two 10 inch Memphis M7’s that are not putting out full rms @ 750 per Speaker and it fucking pounds I cant imagine 4 of these VIV 14 in my ride i’m gonna give respect when it’s due and Memphis right now definitely earns respect I completely agree with what you said and I watch the same video and I thought the judgment was already in favor of JL before it even started plz post some more content as I will as well if your interested in my build 💯

      They make 7.5" coils overseas. Very common in pro audio woofers there. Big drivers bc fuck sound ordinance laws. They also have huge transformer amplifiers. 10kw fan cooled amps. Those transformers are the size of your hands.

    I use pretty much all JL but I've been looking at this sub because I've always liked the memphis brand and this sub is a beast. As far as that video I seen it too and this sub should easily out perform the 13w7 as far as SPL. I would put this sub on a quality amp though. As a side note, it's almost impossible to beat the sound quality of the W7.

    • @mazda2284
      @mazda2284  Před 2 lety +1

      This Memphis VIV sounds great also , it has a unique sound , as does the JLaudio w7 , the w7 has been around for 20 years unchanged mostly and has been a benchmark in sq since it came out . I have a bunch of different subs that have different unique qualities in sq . These both would be in that list

    • @mazda2284
      @mazda2284  Před 2 lety

      kinda in that they both have a large coil and similar shape , they are totally different tho , the Memphis has more effective cone area , less MMS due to a d2 ohm aluminum wire coil where the STW has d8 ohm copper wire coil , the motors are very very different inside , the STW would do amazing in the house for brutal lows where you have something to fill off the higher end bass , the memphis is better suited for the car and being able to cover the upper range bass notes where most cars end up lacking . both are bad ass subs

    • @mazda2284
      @mazda2284  Před rokem +1

      Surprisingly many people don't understand how they work or how to use them and may have a bad experience because of it . Filtering before the amplifier is something that should be done with any amps imo , also some people are not used to using a dsp , dd and taramps both make one that can adjust phase for multiple amplifier installs , the smart amps prefer 2-2.5v rca input and will sound much better than at 3-4v , and you gotta have power to back them up , not because they are inefficient but because they actually make power , they are actually one of the most efficient amps on the market , I wasn't a taramps fan until the smarts , I love the smart amps

    Definitely a unique looking subwoofer! 7.5 inch voice coil, I wonder what the benefit is to a voice coil that large.

    • @mazda2284
      @mazda2284  Před 2 lety +6

      have a large 7.5" coil you have a larger surface area for cooling , being 2 layer is what makes it extra interesting to me , it helps with high frequency roll off and can cool more quickly which results in more steady BL , 2 layer is lighter reducing mms and making it more sensitive , which helps with a trade off's of using large gauge aluminum flat wire , where round copper wire would have higher BL and sensitivity in the same given gap " negated by higher mms" . i could get deeper into this but it would be a long winded rant and like anything in audio there are exceptions to certain things in certain cases . lol
