When Shinobu's death was mentioned, Tomioka did not cry or make any moan, but his expression changed to one of complete surprise, he really did not expect or want Shinobu to die, Therefore, if I take it, it affects Shinobu.
That explains why he so cold cuz he doesn’t want to have close people to him and the fact that his older sister sacrificed her life to protect him is sad 😔
Tanjiro was his last straw. He had lost so much in one night… he wasn’t even able to grieve for Shinobu since he’s in the middle of the battle, but his reaction says it all. His iris became as small as Sanemi’s iris then Shinobu’s face flashed back 😞
Giyuu’a story is really sad, first his sister dies then his friend died during the Slayer Exam leaving him as the sole survivor (of urokodaki’s students obviously) then many years later he is a hashira and he and the other pillars are fighting against the upper moons and muzan, they manage to defeat all of them but all the other Hashira died leaving him as once again the sole survivor. He must have a ton of survivor’s guilt.
Its sad to know while giyuu-san and tanjiro-san were battling akaza and shinobu died in the process giyuu was shocked to find out. but rest easy with kanae shinobu-san

Rewatch the episode and it shows that the hand demon told her how he killeda lot of his tsugokus and made it his mission to kill them all. Makomo died before giyuu and sabito went to final selection, they never met her when Alive. Sabito met her in the afterlife
