WELS - Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod Martin Luther Chapel New Ulm, MN Morning Chapel November 18, 2011 Hymn 148 - The Strife Is O´er, the Battle Done
I chose this hymn as the opening hymn to my wife's funeral service and will always cherish it. It reminds me of Christ's victory that since He is risen, so will we and my beloved wife be!
How anyone could not like this song is incredible. It’s a beautiful gospel song of faith, love and Christ’s unconditional love for all who believe. ❤️❤️❤️🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪✝️✝️✝️
I am a funeral director and I must admit, this is one of the most stirring recessionals I have ever heard, especially while the bells on the church accompany it.Many a tearful memory of the casket processing out of the church behind the Cross to the hearse as this song, with the bells, plays in the background...
We sang this at my Dad's prayer service as well. You are right about Christ's victory. We sang "The Day of Resurrection" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" at his funeral. I can almost hear Dad singing with this video. I sure miss him but look forward to seeing him again in Heaven!!
Magnificently voice organ! Arp Schnitger would have loved it. I'll have the privilege next week of 3 days listening to it. Most look at pictures & see the colors. I listen to this organ & also hear the colors. I'll likely be the old guy out in the hall in tears.
totally my most favorite Easter Hymn of all time!! This is played tremendously. Love the rich vibrant pipes on the organ! Gives me goose bumps its so good! Kudos to the organist!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (April 15, Easter 2), we sang this as the closing hymn. It is #366 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. As a child, I remember singing this every year as the opening hymn at our Easter Sunrise Services.
Indeed, as when I was a collegiate, I worshipped and many the young still give praise. Christianity, as its founder Jesus, wafts through the ages. Keep the strife in check.
Thanks for posting this video. Naturally, this is one of my favorite hymns, and it was played and sung very well by this college group. When I play this on the organ or piano, I cannot resist the temptation to add another four measures of resolution to that terminal Alleluia, which seems to bring it to a more satisfying close. May God bless you, your work and those you love.
I have watched and listened to this particular video a number of times. Today I noticed something: somewhere in the middle of it, I noted in this chapel.. a cross.... but it was not empty. I believe that it should be. But peace to all who believe in Him.
@@tracygriffin4439 .. I did not say or suggest that a cross with an image of a body on it offended me. I merely said that I believe that an image of a cross "should" be empty. An empty cross confirms the truth, "He is risen!" He will return. From the perspective of time, from His resurrection until now, He is no longer on the cross. The image of a cross should reflect this.
I would so happily take starving kids under my wing but my men's is being stolen . Go figure.. then they complain we don't give enough. No. Ive seen all I need to see. You know that.

This will be the recessional for my funeral. It is a wonderful hymn, one of the finest in all of Christendom.

A beautiful most meaningful song indeed. This ole Lutheran loves these precious songs.

Love this song
We didn’t sing this at church today, but it was played during communion
The song is great. This organist is excellent. The building is beautiful.
To God be the Glory!
My favorite Easter hymn!
me too!!
Beautiful

One of my absolute favorites and so beautifully done! Thanks for posting!
amen, God bless you to
The song of triumph has begun!

The cross doesn't need to be empty. Lutherans preach Christ and him crucified. That is nothing to be ashamed of.
@@tracygriffin4439 ... Perhaps so. ... But I believe that you and I can differ on this practice, and yet remain at peace.
Why does a cross with a corpus on it offend you?
@@tracygriffin4439 ... I didn't say or suggest that it did. I simply prefer a cross to be empty..... just like the tomb became empty.

Wie stark ist nicht dein Zauberton!!
i really wish there was sheet music for the improvisation at the beginning
What did they hope for.
How do u get at my purse? I keep the lock workings in it, in a bag. How do you sleep at night knowing what you caused now.
Like thieves. Steal and leave.
Jesus directs the persecuted alone woman. Not them.
