Lol it does help to leave the rad cap on tight and remove coolant bolt first! Get your pan ready and then take the rad cap off it creates a vacuum if you do the radiator cap last just saying..
Where is vid 3?? Also good videos i have a 2005 r6 i am gonna do the valves on this winter so i am getting prepared for that. 29k miles she doesnt idle or run bad but i just have a feeling i need to do it or regret it next season.
Great job on the video! Very complex procedure just to get to the valves. I was gonna buy a FZ6 but how often do they need adjusting? Maybe I should go with my first choice the SR400.
Hey thank you for your videos on this R6, they're very helpful. I do have a question though: When reinstalling cams, I lined up everything correctly, timing seemed to be set properly, but when I reinstalled everything back (quite properly, I believe) when I try to turn the crankshaft with a wrench, it only turned about 180 degrees and wouldn't turn anymore without more pressure than I am comfortable with. I turned it back (counter clockwise) after it got stuck just a TINY bit. Do you think that damaged anything? Is there a trick to this? Thanks for reading, I'd appreciate any input you have.
If everything was aligned corect you don't need to have problems, maybe you installed the shim that is too big and the valve is touching the Piston!!! Did you measured the clearance right? I did it a few times to make sure everything is corect!!! And also make sure nothing felt down around valves, I mean strange objects!!!
I’m not a mechanic so I have to ask. How much do you think it would cost for someone to get their valves adjusted by a shop? What am I looking at as far as in price for everything?
Honestly I don't know, I never went to any shops, but I know the shop near me is charging around 100 per hour labor, the parts aren't expansive if you ordering just the shims you need and the head gasket, you will pay much more for work than for parts! Where are you located?
@@valeriumoscalu7580 I’m in New York City. I’m asking because I’m looking into buying this 08 Yamaha R6 with 15K miles on it. Bike seems well taken care of but still, I want to make sure this bike will last me for a few years (3-4 years). So I want to know what I should be expecting in regards mechanics in order to maintain the bike in its best condition.
Mine was with 33000 miles on it I sold it last year and a few days ago I bought another one from 2007 with 8000 miles on it! I am in washington state, I wish I will visit New York one day, I need a vacation!)
Yamaha is a good bike , I don't think you will have any problems with it, just tast ride it and you will see if the engine have enough power or not! Engine is the most important the rest everything can be fixed easy!
@@valeriumoscalu7580 I know you said to see if the engine have enough power, but what else in particular should I be looking for in regards to the engine when I test ride it? I’ve never ridden a Yamaha bike, just Honda. I know engine wise they both are 600cc but Yamaha R6 seems different as far as engine and performance delivery.
Best video on this subject I’ve seen so far!

Hi would you know if the same procedure for removing the whole air filter box is the same procedure for a 2014 model
Yes! Should be the same! I guess from 2006 until 2016 they all have the same construction!
@@valeriumoscalu7580 Thank you and Happy New Year! 🐐
