  • Offering exceptional creativity and flexibility, the new 4K compact digital cinema camera is perfect for a broad range of imaging professionals.
    As the first Cinema EOS camera to support the new RAW recording format - Cinema RAW Light - the Canon C200 provides the same flexibility in colour grading as Cinema RAW in a smaller file size, enabling filmmakers to record internally to a CFast 2.0™ card.
    Newly developed Canon Dual DIGIC DV6 processors provide the ability to record internally 4K UHD/50P MP4, 4K DCI RAW and continuous 120fps High Frame Rate (HFR) in Full HD without crop. At the same time, advances in Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus (AF) technology and a new touch screen LCD monitor provide smooth AF operation and effective tracking.

    As a 300 MKII owner, they better give us:
    - Use of that touchscreen on the c300mk2
    - A firmware update to bring the 60p4k and/or the non-cropped 120p to the c300mk2 (i beleive it is a matter of more efficient compression rather than processing power & cooling)
    - A firmware update to bring the ability to record internally to RAW Light.
    If not i really should have bought a used red/alexa 5 months ago....

    • @improver1849
      @improver1849 Před 7 lety +2

      Impale I agree that they should definitely give you some goodies.. but as far as a used Red or Alexa. I dunno, man. The Cinema line with dual pixel AF to me is all about the best quality possible when shooting on your own or with a very small crew. And in a codec that's easy to ingest and edit. Alexa and Red have different purposes. Alexa footy is gorgeous, though.

    • @starchild24
      @starchild24 Před 7 lety

      I completly agree, the point i was trying to make is that, knowing the lineup would change so soon, with the pricing of the c300mk2 being what it is, i would have made the on-set compromise of having to work arround a production body (getting a wireless followfocus system for gimbal/steadicam work would have still been a bitch) and logistics that go with it knowing they would "outdate" the c300mk2 so soon (and i understand they'll hold back on 4:2:2 internal to aim the c300mk2 more to broadcast jobs and keep the c200 for web content). Don't get me wrong I still love the footage i get out of it and the ability to throw it on a movi and get nice shots.
      TLDR; I'm salty i don't get 4k60p & un-cropped 120fps @ 8bit and RawLight on a more expensive camera than its lower B Cam -_-

    Great video. Something we've always been able to rely on with Canon gear are the familial similarities across the whole range. Even if you've only ever used an entry level DSLR, this camera won't be totally alien. As an 80D owner, I've come to adore dual pixel AF, and it's great to see it here too - it's certainly quicker and more accurate than I can manually focus, even in the most adverse conditions.

I love the love DigitalRev channel and im excited to see more video content, I am moving from my canon 6d and have been trying to decide between the Sony A7sII and the C200. I wanted a great camera for photos and videos but looks like i gotta choose 2 different cameras lol. I beleive i'll go with the C200 for especially working as a one man band its great that it has built in XLR hopefully that firmware update comes along making the c200 even more of a beast. What's all the exitement, it's a late comer by a long shot. 100fps @50p? Why not @60p? Why not even be ground breaking with 10bit 4.2.2 internally? There's nothing really super-terrific about this camera, performance-wise that the Gh5 wouldn't fearlessly compete with (& probably beat). IMHO.

    • @BigfootMediaPro
      @BigfootMediaPro Před 7 lety

      Kai lives in PAL land. Don't fret the C200 does 60P and 120P in the NTSC world. And is a real video camera, unlike the GH5.

    • @improver1849
      @improver1849 Před 7 lety +1

      PlayPro Studios Depends on what you use it for. Performance wise over the GH5, you're going to get it's cutting edge dual pixel AF which lets you work with a smaller crew or even one man bad. You could even vlog with the thing, no problem. Better DR. The convenience and sometimes necessity of built in ND filters. (external ones don't cut it when you need to run n' gun or otherwise shoot fast) Built in XLR so you can rig pro quality mics properly and quickly. I agree that you can fiddle with the Panasonics to get a nice image (and I LOVE those PanaLeica lenses!), but the time loss and missed opportunity costs involved in non-professional cameras is enormous. The C200 is worth every pence or penny as it'll make many pounds/dollars, and save many pounds/dollars in a multitude of ways.

      Pricing seems to be all over the place C5D has the 9K but I have heard from other sources that range from 6K-8K depending on if you purchase the newer EVF option. Obviously, they will have to one-up it with C300 mk3. I think it will record 4K@120 (or at least like 90). On top of that, maybe SSD implementation? I mean with such huge files, cards are not going to be enough soon.

    • @JamesJacksonFilmz
      @JamesJacksonFilmz Před 7 lety

      I doubt they will do a C300Mk3 with 4K@120 now you crossing into C700 Territory. Most likely it will just go up to 4K60p with 10 bit 422 and 2K 12 Bit 444 at 120 fps

    • @MrDamianOZ
      @MrDamianOZ Před 7 lety

      James Jackson I agree it overlaps with higher model, but it's what they did here. I think that each entry in their lineup has to go up a level now

    • @JamesJacksonFilmz
      @JamesJacksonFilmz Před 7 lety

      i disagree to a certain extent. The c200 is a weired ugly duckling that takes the best and faults of both the C100 and the C300. The 8 bit 4:2:0 is the key takeaway and that 10 bit is only accessible internally through the new raw recording. That is going to limit some options that this camera can be used for, which gives the C300mk2 more of a chance to remain the go to c-line camera for broadcasting and studio work.

    Why is NOBODY mentioning what a pain the C200 is when changing settings? Switching between formats (RAW/MP4/100fps), I need to check frame rates (RAW will default to 50fps every time) and resolution (going from 100fps to RAW will default to 1920x1080), then adjust my shutter rate, relative exposure, and native ISO in certain circumstances. Oh, for a simple 1/2 'settings memory', as on my A7SII! Or a whole bank of customisable settings presets, recorded to 'My Menu' and accessible via a customised button. Picture it... 'Tung 50P RAW 1/100', 'Day 25P MP4 1/50', etc... Also: (a) Why isn't FUNC accessible by clicking the nipple, as on the C100? My one customisable button on the handgrip is now set to FUNC, so where's left for my beloved One Touch AF? (b) Why did they make it such that the top handle prevents the viewfinder from angling vertically? I love to 'look down' on my subjects, and having to hold the camera that little bit higher when using the VF is an arm-killer!

    "The C200 has a new MP4 codec that is 4:2:0 8bit.." "...you have to use an external recorder to get a better codec.." There you have the answer "why" Canon C300 Mark II is still the "pro" camera - Update: "Internal recording: Cinema Raw Light 10bit or 12bit 4K DCI at up to 60P (1Gbps VBR). UHD MP4 150Mbps at up to 60P. HD 4:2:0 MP4 35Mbps at up to 120P (no sensor crop)..." - sounds better, but still, if you don`t want to use RAW all the time and want a robust image, seems you need to use the external recorder.

    • @RyanAnthonyDigitalMedia
      @RyanAnthonyDigitalMedia Před 7 lety

      Martin Grof But with all the other amazing specs and cheaper price, does that really matter that much? I don't think the extra 2 bits is a deal breaker.

    • @suuperchlap
      @suuperchlap Před 7 lety

      Ryan Anthony...well, depends on what you expect from a camera. I expect a robust image, that I can push hard in postproduction. And image is the most important thing to consider when buying a camera for real jobs, right? Or do you think that on an higher end production the fps or a "weak" RAW Light will save the day? I don`t think so. And Canon knows that. That`s why this camera is not C400, but C200.. IMO

    • @RyanAnthonyDigitalMedia
      @RyanAnthonyDigitalMedia Před 7 lety

      Martin Grof I totally agree. But I think this camera is more of an Fs7 killer or 5D upgrade than competition with the C300 or C700, which are more high-end cameras that are trying to compete with RED or ARRI. They can always change the bitrate in the future with firmware update. I think this camera will give just as nice imaging as the C300, and at half the price. I've worked with 8-bit in post on high-end productions and have had no problems. It's about getting it right IN-CAMERA rather than fixing or adjusting in post. It shoots RAW & CLOG, so I doubt there will be terrible problems that you'd in encounter in post, if your DP is competent; which might make 10-bit a deal breaker. IMO

    • @creamrich
      @creamrich Před 7 lety

      for 7500$ it only shoots 420 outside of raw?? What a joke. 8bit isn't considered broadcast compliant and it's not just about grading, there's way more color captured for a better image

      4:2:0 internally if you are not shooting in Raw in all resolutions.

    Why does the screen have to be so far out from the camera? The C100 designs are so much better... ugh. Basically that’s why I didn’t buy this camera. The ergonomics just look like crap to me.

    • @CVPTV
      @CVPTV  Před 6 lety +1

      This is Canon's most well thought out C series camera design wise to date. The screen is on a pretty adjustable bracket that you can position, however what makes it extremely versatile is the fact you can remove it and mount it easily as the monitor has a 1/4 thread on it. This means you can actually position it wherever you would like versus the C100 having the fixed monitor. Don't let that be the reason you miss out on this awesome camera :) Jake

    • @Filmer
      @Filmer Před 6 lety +1

      CVP it is the reason why I won’t buy this camera. The LCD placement matters to me with my style of filming “run & gun” the C100 mark 2 has the best LCD screen I have ever used for any camera.

    • @CVPTV
      @CVPTV  Před 6 lety

      Filmer Like I said I wouldn’t let how Kai has it setup here put you off buying when you can literally remove the screen and then use any 1/4 mounting system to reposition & reduce weight/size. The C100 has a good default placement but it’s restricted in comparison.

  • @TheBrandonLeeCook
    @TheBrandonLeeCook Před 6 lety

    But also the quality of Kai is better than the quality of the video shot with the C200..... hmmmmm

      The Ursa is a different tool all together I believe... Why do you need to see the comparison? different tools for different styles of work. I would say It's a is more "Cinema" and C200 is more "Video"

      raafjong moffel if you have absolute control over everything than an Ursa mini, if you want ease of use, great autofocus, great lowlight, great battery and the second best colour profile in the world then canon.
      Let's not forget what's important is that your camera can get you the shot easily and professionally, I don't think BM have their cameras up to that standard yet.

    • @JamesJacksonFilmz
      @JamesJacksonFilmz Před 7 lety +1

      As someone who has used the 4.6K (not the pro but they are closely similar minus the new ergonomic features) and a C300, I will say that they are different. If Best IQ is your ultimate endgame then the UMPro beats this (at least spec wise haven't tested the camera yet). The image from the camera is just breathtaking if you know how to use it. But knowing how to use it is key point and knowing the limitations of the camera.
      Now if you are talking overall workflow and ergonomics, the canon c200 appears to have it beat, mainly in autofocus and low light scenarios. The 4.6k is no way a low light camera. The Ursa Mini Pro is best in controlled environments like a studio and cinema productions with a crew, or you can make it work on something like a music video shoot. However if you are a one man band that needs rapid turn around time with limited accessories, like weddings, corporate events and concerts, then the C200 is probably the best camera out there for you. The Ursa Mini Pro needs a lot more love to make it work, but again the IQ it can deliver is worth it.
