What do you think of the new Goodnotes 6 features & pricing model?

As a legacy GoodNptes 4 user who upgraded to 5, I hate the new pricing. I will probably move to Notability or Noteful as soon as they remove the GoodNotes 5 mode.....
Someone else said goodnotes 5 could be removed ? I find this subscription based model to be annoying and I’m not doing it. I can more than afford it but I hate how everything is going towards that because all these subscriptions eventually add up and it becomes a ton of money spent per month. I hate subscriptions and I like “owning” things instead. I don’t see why they would remove goodnotes 5 if we already paid for it. This is so stupid. If they do remove it, I’m going back to notability because I was grandfathered into it and don’t have to pay monthly bc I had the app in college right before they switched to subscription. So I got lucky there. Goodnotes should take NOTES on how Notability did that and doing something for long term customers

I totally agree with @triggeredlatina. I’ve been anti subscription since Adobe introduced it 10 years ago. I can’t afford to pay for a new version of GoodNotes 😟
From your review it looks like the new features are aimed at folks who use it for note taking, not those who use it for digital planning.
So I’m not going to update and will probably use Notability or NoteShelf since I have both of those apps.
As someone who bought into GN during the whole Notability controversy, this is incredibly frustrating to see lol ( “Either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain” )
Wouldn't be surprised if the increases of a lot of AI in writing apps/sites would mean more people switching to analog for people that don't like AI, especially for school/college classes (save for some exceptions, like with having neurodiversity and/or learning disabilities that makes writing apps/sites essential).

@@triggeredlatinaNotability switched from one-time purchase to a subscription-based model and it pissed a lot of people off back then. For more info, you can google it. Goodnotes stepped in and basically said “lol we’d never do that, here’s a 50% discount for you guys to try Goodnotes instead”.

I am SOOOOO happy they made these changes! I’ve been wanting different colored folders for ages, and the added scribble out feature & other features made me happy as well!

I can see how this is better for actual notetaking in school settings, but for me where I use gn5 for mostly jotting down things at home, I’m content with not upgrading. I do like the more cuter style of the icons in gn6 tho

I promised myself I would only update my GN5 if they released a dark mode version for pdfs and I cant believe they still haven't!!
I'm a literature student, all I do 24/7 is reading and annotating, my eyes get so dried and tired so I would love a dark mode to read my books :(
I know right! If you manually go to setting on iPad under accessibility you can invert the colors for a similar effect!

I have never used Goodnotes and this was one of the best videos I have seen so far! I am going to use it for my nclex studying because I do not want to do physical cards, too much to do.

i’ve been binge watching all of your videos and finally got the app for myself but i don’t know how to lock background in place so when i lasso elements and images the whole thing doesn’t move altogether

Just a question is good notes available on Samsung because I tried to look for it and I couldn't find it but then again my tablet is kind of old anyways I hope someone can answer my question
I was wondering that if you buy the product as "the forever version" you can have these upgrades, or these come after a while. That's because i have my ipad (normal version, 10.2" 2021) upgraded, my apps are too, and i don't have these features. Help please!!! ❤❤❤

Is the update only for iPad or they do the same in Samsung Tab as well?
My biggest problem with it now is when it tries to recognize my equations and make a mistake I can't edit the equation. Either I'm missing something or they have not really implemented this. I mean if I could tap the equation and it shows a LaTeX equation for me to edit it would be fine but I guess it's not yet implemented?
In math equation, can you edit the equation if goodnotes detect a wrong equation?

I think I would be upgrading if they make a links between pages, for now I’m going to use my GN5
I updated my goodnotes to goodnotes 6 but its still not letting me use the features. I even checked what version im using on the app, and it said 6.7.
How to go back at good notes 5 from 6 because i updated from 5 to 6 and charges again whenever i paid for unlimited on goodnotes 5😢

I bought your journal yesterday and pretty new to journaling. I haven't no journal experience and I really don't know where to start, I also have problems with the handwritten to text tool, the keyboard is always in the way and I also bought the realistic handwritten font, but I have to choose the font over and over again with every sentence. Sorry i'm completly new to an iPad overall

Your timing was perfect in regards to GN 6, Rina. What are your thoughts on GN 6 overall? I’ve heard some grumblings from a few who are not happy with GN 5 so aren’t interested in paying for GN 6. So far I haven’t had any problems working with either 5 or 6, so plan to pay the one time fee to upgrade. Thank you
I like the new features overall, especially the scribble to erase feature. The AI handwriting features, I'd like to see how that develops because you can see how it performs in the video. I mainly use goodnotes for digital planning/journaling but if I were a student who used it for notetaking, then I would find the features even more useful.
It’s not a one time fee. It’s subscription based fee
@@ullamorozova It is both subscription based and one time purchase. There is no compulsion to upgrade to Goodnotes 6 as paid users of GN 5 can continue to use it.
Until you accidentally or automatically update…GN for the first time ever did not make a separate app for it’s newer counterpart. I had GN3, GN 4, GN 5. But GN6 is the same as GN5…they claim u can downgrade back to 5 but since they made it the same app u will have glitches and it will keep forcing you to upgrade to 6 @@UPSCMathZone
Since I’m not a student most of these features aren’t super enticing for me, but if they added linked pages I think I’d make the switch! I’m not very interested in AI as a whole unfortunately.

@@Stefan51982 Hm, komisch. Ich habe die spanische Version (weil mein IPad auf Spanisch gestellt ist) und dennoch kann ich deutsche Texte paraphrasieren und korrigieren lassen.. Deinstalliere die App vielleicht und lade sie erneut herunter. Könnte möglicherweise daran liegen, dass du irgendwie noch GoodNotes 5 Funktionen hast oder weil, wie du schon erwähnt hast, es nur in bestimmten Ländern verfügbar ist. Was aber ziemlich verwirrend wäre, weil ich ja die GoodNotes 6Funktionen hab und in Deutschland lebe

I am experiencing huge battery drain on my iPad Air 5 while using Goodnotes6. In about 33 minutes, i lost 15-20% of battery. If i add it up, that would be about 3 hours of use, which isnˋt always enough for a day in school. Did you experience this too?

I used to prefer the iPad but Samsung has gotten so good in recent years, you can do almost everything on the samsung tablet that you can do on the iPad. Homescreen customization is still a bit better on the iPad, and my favorite drawing app procreate is only on iPad, so I guess it comes down to price and what you'll be using it for. My M2 iPad pro that I only had for a year is having some screen dimming issues now, so currently not loving it!

Thank you for the video. I have now concluded that I will not be buying the good notes 6. I am very content with the 5 version.
I have realised that as I am preparing for competitive examinations havin the app correct and complete my sentences and help of AI will ultimately lead to a decreased understanding for me, I need to write the correct words and sentences every time to get better. I realised that while I was working a lot on ms word during my masters having the app correct words for me lead to me not caring much about correct spellings and sentence formation. Thank you once again.
