    Excellent explanation. Thanks for sharing. I also liked how the jet didn't care about pulling 9 Gs to recover.

      That's how awesome the F-16 is. You can pull 9g all day and the jet don't care.

    This kind of system has been talked about for 35 years (reference Nova--Top Gun and Beyond, airdate Jan. 1988). That shows you how fast the wheels of bureaucracy can turn sometimes. It's a great system and I'm glad we now have it.

    Sir,
    Thanks for responding yesterday on Movers Poscast. I will post my response here as well. Thanks again, I grew up as an avgeek, and get to provide on the civilian side.
    Thanks Rain and Mover… didn’t think about WPB also relating to Wright Patt, but he nailed it, west palm beach. I actually have a iPhone clip of you departing from our facility multiple times, awesome! You come out of those trees at the east end like a boss! Legacy F100 with the fueldraulic noise is still music to my ears, although admitting that the F110 is much cleaner. It’s like screech in the F-22/F35, love it or hate it. 🙂. There is a good video on the facility called “Thunder in the Sun” and it goes thru it all. Thanks again boys!

    Thank God that the USAF decided to employ this system. I know to some it might seem that flying these incredible machines is easy, but I'm sure that it's not the case. Thank God that this pilot is safe and sound.

    old Viper Crew Chief. Thanks for the videos, sir. New sub here. Thanks for your service, sir! GLOC is no joke. At Nellis, all of our Viper Drivers have HUGE muscular necks. We could usually spot them in civvies. :) You guys were bad asses and we wanted to make sure you have bad ass birds. We had 99.5 FMC on our bird. She was a beast! I think she's still serving.

    Amazing! I know a lot of pilots didn’t like the thought of the jet taking control over from them when The program first came online, but to hear how many lives it’s saved, I know a lot of them have come to appreciate it. Im assuming the Viper Demo jet has AGCAS disabled?

    Great video as always John. What happens to the student after landing? Would he be kicked out of the F-16 course? I was an avionics tech on F-15's at Tyndall years ago, and when a student would G-LOC, it seems like they were failed out of the course.

      Most likely not unless it is a repeat scenario. My guess is they sent him to redo centrifuge training. If he didn't have any issue it was back to the races.

    • @AfterburnPodcast

      Most likely not. Typically, they would accomplish additional G tolerance training and evaluation. My guess is another trip to the centrifuge and then back at it.

      This is what i was wondering also. I could imagine in the heat of the moment during the merge, especially when you're trying to strut your stuff as a trainee, it's easy to forget to do the physical maneuvers to keep you from passing out. Which is another thing i'm wondering. Even with the G-Suit. Do you still need to tighten your legs up etc? Does it make a difference with the suit?

    Hey Rain, I ask this question out of shear curiosity. Considering the machines like the F-35 are highly maneuverable, why isn't this system mandated in all fighters? In turn, I could care less what happens to the aircraft as long as each pilot that flies these jets survive.

    • @AfterburnPodcast
      @AfterburnPodcast  Před 2 lety +1

      This tends to get most pilots fired up. But my guess it comes down to money. The F-35 is slated to get AGCAS if it isn’t already making its way into the US fleet.
