Welcome our Ghanaian wife to the USA. Please be careful in Miami, especially with the police if you drive during your stay in the city before you take another flight to Jamaica and join your hubby. This is my prediction, and have a safe trip if my prediction is right.

Ms Trudy you have to watch the taxi meter at all times. When you get in make sure the meter is not already running with money accrued. You should not see more than $1 or $2 dollars when you first get in the cab. Keep watching the meter as you drive. When you reach your destination make sure the final charge showing on the meter is what you are charged. Sometimes a driver will add more money at the beginning or end of a trip. Ask the driver to explain any thing other than a $1 or $2 charge for use of the trunk. Also, use your card to make the payments whenever possible. The apps should email or text you a receipt.
I’ve lived in Florida for 20 years. It’s a naturally beautiful place with a diverse population but, sadly, also one of the most divided racially and politically.
This is one of the States trying to ban the teaching of Black History in schools.
Most of the Caribbean community is concentrated in parts of Miami, Broward and Palm Beach.
There are African-Americans here who go back generations to slavery throughout the state in historic towns like St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Belle Glade, Pahoke.
There are also the Seminoles, Native Americans and the descendants of some African slaves who joined them centuries ago to fight together and now live on reserved land with them.
If you’re in Miami take short trip to visit them at the Hardrock and Billy Swamp Safari, to get a glimpse of Florida’s history.
Many visit South Miami and see the glitz and glamour but there is a lot more to experience.
Go to North Miami to ‘Little Haiti’ to connect with our people there and eat some good food.

Miss Trudy, welcome to Miami. The cost of cab rides from the airport to the city especially big cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles ranges from $45 upward minus tips for good service. There’s however the option of share rides either in a cab or mini vans which is not convenient because they have to drop the other passengers.
Lastly, you were so lucky that the fire service and ambulance didn’t turn up when you mistakenly pulled the fire alarm. Big bill !!! 🤣🤣🤣

Hey Trudy. Welcome to Miami. You should have used an Uber to SOBE taxi are very expensive but from Sobe to the airport taxi are standard fee. You can also use the express bus 150 it’s actually free it will take you to the airport to the car rental area then take the metro rail about 5 min to the terminal it’s free as well… make sure to visit wynwood.

Disclaimer do not shop on south beach the prizes are very exaggerated go to mall Aventura mall all the buses are free until January so you can hope in and out on any depending on your destination my to go breakfast/food place is playa cafe very affordable very good food it’s on 15st and Washington and your very safe and to walk around anytime don’t be scared. You don’t have to tip as well. Never feel the pressure to tip drivers only when you feel the need to. Resturant/bars/clubs will ask you for tips on receipts but in some cases tips are already included so you can add additional if you can or want to…

The standard taxicabs are much more pricey than an Uber! Even with Uber the rates will change to more during peak traffic times. Uber has a tip option but it’s not a must, it’s just a kindness 😊

They can visit YS Falls (very romantic and ethereal place); Negril Beach (praying the sargassum hasn't affected this area); Acompong Village where the Maroons live; Frenchman's cove, Boston Jerk, Jamaica Palace Hotel and many more beautiful places in Port Antonio; Ocho Rios; Duns River Falls, Kingston (New and Old), Bob Marley Museum, Hope Gardens, Devon House for Ice cream, one of the Rasta villages, so much more I've not included and so very much to see, explore and experience on the little island.

People hang around some buildings with the hope of gaining access in to the buildings to do bad stuff. Please bear in mind that you are not in Africa where we just open our doors to strangers.
Restraint yourself from going out at night. Miami is a notorious place for a single woman to be walking alone at night.

Hope you enjoy your stay in Miami. You were very lucky with the Fire Alarm, some of them are directly linked to the water sprinkler that will immediately spray water on the floor and also the Fire Department will be notified were 2 maybe 3 Large Red Trucks show up to put the fire out.
Word Of Advice: Don't go to the beach at night, Ever!!!! and only pull the Fire Alarm when there's a 🔥🔥Fire............💖💖
