  • It's everything you've come to expect from a professional ceramic coating and more. Meguiar's M888 - Beyond Ceramic Paint Coating has 100% active ingredients and is a little thicker formula than a traditional coating. This is why we specially engineered the unique microfiber applicator to allow you to spread the ceramic paint coating evenly into the paint. On average, you want the coating to sit on the paint for about 2-5 minutes before wiping it off. However, it can sit longer and will still come off easily. Even as much as 24 hours later, high spots can still be fixed by simply applying fresh product and wiping it off.
    Initial curing takes about 24 hours, and full curing takes about a week when you can then use chemicals and car washes on the paint. M888 is also effective on other surfaces, including PPF, vinyl, trim, plastic, painted and OEM wheels, etc. It's also a single-layer coating, so you don't have to apply multiple coats to get the full protection and benefits of the coating, including ease of wipe-off.
    For the car ceramic coating to bond properly and maximize performance, it's recommended to clay and decontaminate the paint before applying.
    If you want the paint to look as good as possible, include a full paint correction. After applying, M888 will darken the paint and conceal some minor defects rather than highlight them. The best way to maximize the protection is to wash and clean the surface regularly. Professional Hybrid Ceramic Bead Booster M799 is the perfect companion product for M888 to help enhance the coating. Note, M799 is not required.

    My 2 favorite Meguiars Guys! Great video, and to be honest I'll have to rewatch this again because my mind started wondering off several times thinking about different topics you guys was mentioning from time to time.
    I'll be getting me a bottle or 2 plus 799 booster and using on my son's and wife's vehicles and seeing how they act and perform.
    By the way, you 2 together in these shop talk videos are great for educational & informative directions and proper uses on what to expect and how to use correctly.

    Just off a 10hr session, getting M888 on my Integra Type S. I used some old D114 waterless at 8:1 to help the initial strip off any old waxes and sealants, then your stinky decon, then clay bar'd with last touch, then your surface prep, then finally M888. Cos i wanted to use the applicator on the same day, i went all out and took off the wheels and while they were off, i went at the calipers. It was more work that i thought ! I also noticed the car was statically charged, and i was getting a lot of fluff that didn't want to come off easily. I'm in South West Florida and the temps were in the upper 80s, and high humidity so working in that type of heat all day, i can safely say i am totally spent ! Anyway my question is my typical weekly clean is your D115 for a waterless wash, then i like to use M27 as my LSP, then syth - x on the wheels. and the car always looks brand new. I do have the MT300 DA and microfiber pads and polish and compound, but there's absolutely no swirls or light scratches, so i didn't bother with a polish. But if you're like me and just find a waterless wash the quickest way to clean your car, cos it doesn't drip all out the cracks and crevasses is it ok to continue to use these products, given after trying just about every other product, i find these the easiest and fun to use. I do have your M799, but honestly not a fan. I've tried it full strengh and 3:1 and its always more work than your other products. I know its the optimal, but for someone who just loves a clean car, and well when you're doing a bi-week detail your car is protected ! any reason to NOT use a wax based product over M888 ? ps i tried to sign up to your forums, but you never approved ! and i even wrote to your webmaster, hence the long post here !

      @meguiars  Před měsícem

      A lot to take in there but we think we understand your basic question/questions. While using a wax on top of our M888 or any coating for that matter is not necessary using the M27 would be fine. Using it at some point will probably even help maintain the protection and water beading of the coating.
      Using our Waterless Wash & Wax or our D115 as opposed to our M799 Bead Booster or our Hybrid Ceramic Detailer could have an impact on the water beading behavior. Not necessarily degrading or harmful in any way but something to consider.
      Hope that helps and keep in mind our Solutions Hub of experts is always accessible through many different forms of contact including phone, email, live chat, FB, IG, etc.

      @@meguiars Thanks Megs for replying so fast. So for waterless clean, you say use M799 ? i mean perhaps it'll be easier for me now M888 is on top and less streaky. I only ever used it as an LSP. Perhaps cos i was applying over an existing sealant / wax it streaked on me a little. it i'll give it a try. Really a short version of my question is what waterless product do i use to clean the car, as getting a hose out, is more work with all the drips hanging around even after i blast my cracks and crevasses with a gas blower . My car only ever has very light dirt on it. pollen, light dust etc (apart from the wheels) which seem to be a brake dust magnet !

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  Před měsícem

      A good spray detailer like our Hybrid Ceramic Detailer or the M799 diluted at 1:3 would our best recommendation but only if the car is not too dirty.
      Also keep in mind that with the M888 now on the vehicle you will find washing and maintaining easier.

      @@meguiars thanks i'll give both a try. i went out this morning to the car, and, gave it a light stroke. oh man it really is the slickest its ever felt. I'm not driving it today, i'm leaving it in the garage to cure, but just wanted to say hats off to you guys for developing this stuff. First time using a proper ceramic coating. I was never going to pay someone else, so this product was for someone like me !!! You really never know how slick and how much pop the paint will look or feel til you try the product for yourself, and for anyone else out there considering this product its a 10/10 for me!

    I am thinking- after a decon wash and clay, about doing m200, then M122 before the M888. Do you recommend waiting a little bit after the M122 (might wipe it down twice to be sure) before the M888?
    Also, the one thing that su*ks about coatings is the off gas smell and solvent haze. Does this coating have that solvent smell where you need a respirator and open garage?
    Thanks!

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  Před 2 měsíci

      There is no reason you need to wait to apply the coating after using M122.
      Our M888 arguably has only a faint solvent scent compared to many other coatings but that of course is very subjective depending on the person using it. As far as respirator requirements and PPE that is something you would have to assess based on the SDS and your work environment. All Safety Data Sheets can be found on our website.

    Is this to go after 1)compound 2)polish and then apply this?? So ceramic is basically a replacemt to wax then?? Let me know. Do you polish before putting on ceramic.? And then how long does it last compared to wax? Wax for me last about 3-6 months to a year and after I wash my car and dry it gets dirty after 5-10 days.

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, coatings offer superior protection and water beading compared to traditional waxes and sealants. Yes, you would typically clay, compound, and polish as necessary before applying a coating as you would not want to go through that effort without first making the paint look its best.
      There is a wide range of longevity depending on the coating and a number of other factors specific to your situation. With proper prep and maintenance this particular coating can last 2+ years.

    Does it have oil phobic properties, I've had a coating fail from leaking oil from vehicles driving in front of me.

    • @meguiars
      @meguiars  Před měsícem

      Difficult question to answer specifically. As you might imagine it would not be ideal for any vehicle to regularly have "oil" sitting on the surface. Also seems very odd to apply a professional coating to a vehicle you clearly care about and then subject it to an environment where this would occur. While we certainly understand accidents happen the most practical future plan of attack would simply be to fix whatever issue would cause this adverse situation.
      In summary... Would the coating likely help delay or prevent damage from oil to some extent, yes; however the best solution would be to simply avoid this altogether.

      Again, the product is designed to work best on paint although it will work on plastic and other exterior surfaces as well. Ideally clean/bare plastic would also be better before application. In some cases that might only require washing but in others you may want to use a good all purpose cleaner to clean the plastic as well. Either way you will be using the M122 Surface Prep which will remove any waxes, oils, etc from the surface before applying.
