Hello Neeko, My advice would not to grab the paw to start with but start with the paw touching your hand and click and treat. And she it from then on. For example first open hand and when touched, C&T, do this for a couple of sessions, next ion hand and only C&T after 1 complete second, next 2 seconds up till three. Next step could be you close your hand just a sec and click and treat, repeat to shape the behaviour like this until you can shake for a few seconds. You will see that some steps can go really quickly! repetition is the key here and shape in small steps. Good luck and let us know if you make any progress.

His brother Haru, who is very gentle does not really get what to do.. he lifts his paw but does not touch the hand, and when I try to touch the paw he pulls it away. He is watching Poki doing it, but cannot catch it up. Any advice for him.. It is not possible to train them seperatly, they want to be together all the time :)
Hello Fawn, we use liquid snacks of VitaKraft... he likes it very much but it makes him lick his mouth a lot during training. But it surely is a very strong reinforcer. Are you starting your clicker training?
my cat knows how to sit.. but when i open a food can or basically pulled out any food he cannot stay silent.. and when i give my hand to him.. he licks it, sniff it basically anything but touching it with his paw.. what should i do?
hehe, isn't that funny. After they get the hang of it, only reward the very best performances or executions of the shake :) you are shaping it to perfection that way
You must not give him a treat until he performs the action you want...take small improvement actions/steps towards the desired action, and shape from then. Only reward if the action is better and better :)
Hi, every action of the cat must come from the cat itself. It is not good to force your cat in shaking... they must take an action that needs to be positively reinforced. And try to make small steps towards your goal and regular repetition. Good luck

Put a little bit on a spoon and hide it behind your back, when the behaviour occurs, click and treat..... they will quickly get the hang of it!

I taught my cat to sit without a clicker but he forgets so i think i should get a clicker soon
OH yes, It works perfectly and really installs behaviour very quickly. But rehearsal is a requirement for every training ! Good luck
