Well.... yes, they gave him 3 of his own films and he is a main part in so many others, so yeah. You would expect the person with the most screen time to get that development.

I’m tired of people saying Tony Stark is a bad person, someone who’s just snarky for the hell of it. He’s a man who went through so much, yes he’s mad bad mistakes, but he’s a complex human being.

HERE'S WHY THERE ARE ANTI-TONY'S AND PEOPLE WHO DON'T LIKE HIM:
A lot of people who haven't seen his character development assume he is egotistical, immature, and selfish. But what they don't know is that Tony uses humor (often self-depreciating) and a closed off/independent shell to mask his true emotions. He has been taught time and time again not to trust people and the only person he can count on is himself, but even then he still doubts himself.
Nyctophile I’m not saying your wrong, just look at the fact Tony starts off as a guy who loves him self and will sell weapons to anyone. Kind of narcissistic however if you read “Human Nature” those kinds of people can when changed become the best person on the team and do good.

I just noticed that in that 'dream sequence' where cap is dying he asks Tony "Why didn't you do more?", whereas in real life he's basically constantly telling him to stop doing more.
With Ultron and Vision, Stark made decisions independent of the team. Steve was saying stop doing that.
It also explains why Tony and Steve are constantly at odds - one of Tony's greatest fears is that he isn't doing enough, so he makes all these decisions independent of the team that drive Cap crazy

He said so because in Thanos's home planet when his people are still alive, they faced an overpopulation problem. Thanos saw that as a catastrophic scenario where the population would be too much for the planet to sustain and he was right, the people of Titan died out of overpopulation. Tony had the similiar "curse of knowledge" that if earth didn't prepare enough, more threat from outer space would end the world and, like Thanos, he was right and now half of all life on Earth turned to dust because Tony failed to protect the Earth.

Like we are the B team to what is coming.
