  • This is it guys! The video before we get the car 1992 300zx driving. In this video we will go over on how to relocate the PTU, set the throttle bodies, TPS, Ignition Timing, and Base Idle on a Z32. Hope you guys enjoy it since Covid-19 is coming to and end soon hopefully!

    Id love to have my car with you guys for a week. Dealing with engine cont fuses blowing currently. Every connector is corroded. WAHHHH

      Not sure if it's my age or what but I never noticed how high my idle is on my Z. I got my TPS to .44vdc but the idle is around 2000 rpm which means I'll have to get it down before checking the timing right? I've got it warmed up but I think I'll drive it around for a few miles and check again.

      Update: So I decided to re-seat the TSP gray connector (since that's the last thing I "adjusted") and the idle RPM dropped to just over 1000 (I knew it wasn't my age...lol). Checked the timing with Nissan DataScan app display screen and it showed 30 degrees. My Harbor Freight Cen-Tech timing light (with the dial setting on 15) shows it at 15 degrees and 30 degrees when the dial is set to zero. Which one is correct? Got the idle down around 750 RPMs but timing still has me a bit confused. He's running great, engine is smooth and not shaking or sound like it's struggling. Haven't done too much with Datascan app,,,just mainly use it to test injectors and view temp and battery readings. Any ideas what I'm missing? Thx.

      Figured it out, the DataScan display preference was set to add 15 degrees to the timing and that's why it showed 30 degrees. I found what my next project will be, saw a bit of oil around my #1 spark plug while setting up to check the timing. That'll be for another day after I watch your video on replacing the gaskets.       I consistently use mobile 1, 10w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter

    Great video ! Gonna use this to set my timing. I didnt put the lower timing cover since car wont be going on the road for a while (got many other issues to solve before inspection). So i guess i have no choice but to put that lower cover back since timing marks are on the cover 😕

    outstanding vid. I just finished pulling my TT engine and starting the rebuild. Qu: did i moss a video where you summarized how deep you went into the rebuild? Pop the heads or do a compression check before the pull? Saw the video on the lifters, just wondering if you changed the knock sensor and just how deep did you go? My drivers side turbo seized, so planning a full rebuild maybe down the main main bearings. Ideas?

      We did check the compression, but did not pull the heads. We also looked at the knock sensor and it looked in really good shape besides the debris from over the years lol. Compression checks are very simple to do, in one of our drifting videos we do a compression check on my drift car. Thank you for the support!

    Hey Im a Z owner too. I have a 92 300zx Twin Turbo. Theres a guy out here and he makes z32 parts from scratch and puts together his kits. His company name is Polar Engineering. He makes the PTU delte with GTR35 coil pack and its a simple plug and play. Im gonna order mine in some upcoming weeks. You should look into it. Its better for Idle and you can put bigger spark plugs in there. Look into man! Hope you Read This! yeeeeeeeeeeee!

    Hey there I'm trying to get that spark plug connector piece as the shops around me cant due the timing because they don't have that adapter I can't seem to find any online do you know where you got yours everyone says I need the ignition lead but its been discontinued.

      No this car i did not relocate the fuse box. The drift car is still relocated

      This depends on what yo want your AFR's are and what your tune wants. I would refer to twinturbo .net

      I already have an oil change video up on this channel so def go check that out. The coolant change is simple just pull the bottom radiator hose off and let drain, then fill it back up with new green juice!

    Did you calibrate the throttle bodies to make sure that when they close all the way you see the tiny vacuum port at the bottom of the throttle?

    Did you delete your air regulator? i know you still have the IACV, just curious if youre still running an air regulator, and if not, have you had any issues with cold starts? Thanks fam.

      I did delete my air regulator, I have had no issues after deleting it, it is used for cold starts. I let my car sit for 5 mins to get to operating temp and drive it.

      Z-Bruhz that’s what I was thinking. I deleted mine and it solves my 1500rpm idle (no matter how warm the engine was). The AR must have been stuck open. Thanks dude! Keep doin your thing!

    Where did you get the Spark Plug wire Robby used in rigging up the contraption with that ignition coil. Been trying to find one and can't seem to locate anything similar. Kindly advise.

      All it is is a oem coil pack from a z32 with a spark plug wire from advanced/auto zone. No specific on just any kind of spark plug wire.

      He cut off the rubber from the coil pack and attached the wire and then used electrical tape to keep it strong. I hope this helps!

    I was wondering if i put new style injection but i dont use the adapter. Would that cause any issue?

      The injector caps will not hold the I sector in place. Old style is a round head, new style is a square head, and thr wire harness connectors also will not match up unfortunately

    Does the crank pulley have a timing mark? I don't see a line on mine at all. Stock pulley

    Help! I'm new to the timing procedure on a 300zx.I get it that timing is adjusted with a timing light,but what are you adjusting on the right side of the motor to move the timing mark.I see a place on the right side and I loosened the 3 screws and tried to rotate it but I can't budget it. Thanks.

      That is you cas sensor. This either advances or decreases your timing. Alot of people have issues with moving these due to corrosion. Best bet I have learned is use a tiny amount of wd-40 around the crevice where the two pieces meet. Do not use too much just some drops around the entire piece. Let it sit for 5 mins then grab a rubber mallet and carefully tap around the edges. You may need to use some force but once it's free you will be able to adjust.

    I have a 94 and the timing gun I have moves the timing. I watched this video because I didn't have the tool. I took it to the shop and they put my timing way off. It was like at 22. I'm gonna set it at 15 tomorrow. Also going to check my intake valves are opening at the same time.

      @@ZBruhzchannel it was 22 above 15 . My whole car was shaking. I fixed it but I will never go to that so again. . Learned it right here on this channel. Now I just need convertible frame bars. Very hard to find.

      Check tps, timing, clean maf, ohm injectors, check Vitale at battery before car start and after!

      To override the ECU - you want base timing. The ECU will constantly change the timing +/- 2 degrees depending on conditions.

      @@ZBruhzchannel Thank you. BTW.. utilizing your videos I pulled my first VG30DE out of a 90'. My boss was highly Impressed. Seeing that I just transferred jobs and I am (or was) on a "probationary" status this went a long ways with him. I'm not a new Auto Tech.. 15yrs and two of my own shops... But I give it to you guys. These motor R&Rs are DIFFICULT!
      ALSO I NEED TO SWAP THE CAS To the new motor. Can't find any info on this part install. Any advise is appreciated. Cheers!

      @Zackary Rients thank you for the kind words! As for the CAS there are 2 types phase 1 and phase 2. If the motor is out of a 89-92 it will be a phase one CAS. The phase one engine harness will only work with a phase one CAS unless you swap the connector on the harness.. you can get a different connector on Z1 motorsports if needed.

    Hey y'all. How many hours of Labor do y'all think, ball parked to replace the motor and swap some parts like the exhaust manifolds, new water pump, egr valve, motor mounts and motor brackets etc. Fill the radiator up and bleed, new oil filter plugs etc?
    All data says 19.6hrs. I call bullshit.
    1991 300ZX N/A Z32.
    Couple other things, the dipstick is on the opposite side, heater hoses are different, few vacuum lines are different. The motor must be a different year or something! The dip stick in the replacement engine W/ 50k on the motor. Supposedly. Well said dip stick... Not the tube, is 100% caught up in something? Guess I'll have to pull the pan as well. F& CK!..
