There's a reason why Popeye's and Burger King Chicken are so close together in taste. They are both owned by the fast food holding company Restaurant Brands International. I'm fairly sure they are probably the same sandwich.

I've had probably 10 Popeyes spicy chicken's, and they've ranged from C tier to S tier. Really depends on who's making it.
True, depends on the branch location and especially the country.
Popeyes seems to let their chicken sit under a warmer until it’s sold. Because sometimes I go and it’s amazing! And other times I can tell it’s been sitting under a warmer for way too long and has dried out.
This is Chik Fil A’s advantage. They are consistently good everywhere in the country.

One thing about Popeyes and Wendys tho is that it entirely depends on the location and the staff at that location. Ive had incredibly good and incredibly bad chicken sandwiches from the same location of Wendys near me, but different staff made the chicken on those days lol. You know the Wendys food is gonna be good if the staff is ghetto and angry that day, because you know that foods gonna be made out of ANGER and it will be the best chicken youve ever had in your life.
If any staff member is angry it probably won’t be good, I’ve worked at places like that and know if a worker is having a bad day chances are they will skimp on shit or worse, only chance you have getting something good if it’s just out of the grease and order something simple with no extra demands or specifics.
I don't know I'm an Uber eats driver and I feel like any location that has ghetto people which is many where I'm around usually has way worth quality and they take forever to do anything

The best chicken sandwich McDs ever made was the southern style chicken sandwich. A thick juicy southern style breast on a steamed bun with pickles. Simple but amazing.

I got a Popeyes chicken sandwich recently. It was good and the size of it was nice. I kind of appreciate how it's not overly salty tasting but I'm I'd eat it again.
The popeyes sandwich is completely made in house, they start as fillets, and they’re hand floured and battered in different mixtures than used for the regular chicken. Freshness is a huge factor in food quality, so I feel like if Matt had the Popeye’s fresh then it would be S tier.

Not sure who pioneered the “chicken sandwich”, but the spicy chicken sandwich originated with Wendy’s. It’s been around 30 years. I’ve been ordering them the whole time. I once watched a documentary, yes it was very late and I was bored, that said the majority of Wendy’s sales went to the spicy chicken sandwich. It was such a phenomenon that in due time all these other fast food chains copied Wendy’s with the goal to replicate their success.

Hey Matt, not sure when this video was shot, but for a while now McD’s has had a new chicken sandwich where a chicken breast is used. The one you tasted has been around for at least 2 decades. The hot n spicy McChicken has been a dollar menu staple for as long as I can remember. Love your approach to rating the chicken sandwiches and we def have similar tastes. Haven’t tried BK’s yet but will def give it a go now that you’ve given it the highest ranking.

I’m a bit surprised with Jollibee’s. Out of all the chicken sandwiches I’ve had it was my favorite. Although the one I had tasted so fresh, my sauce didn’t look like yours, and I really dig the fresh jalapeños as opposed to the pickles every other sandwich had.

McDonalds spicy mcchicken or even the regular is my go to and probably the only thing I order. I get extra Mayo and it’s golden. I miss their crispy chicken Caesar wraps tho. Those were fire. Chick fil a spicy with Mayo is also fantastic. I almost used to do that every other day.
I weirdly get super anxious about food waste. Found it kinda satisfying to see a food review where the entire sandwich is eaten each time, rather than just a bite.

McDonald's actually made their own (new) chicken sandwich competitor during this whole fiasco, it's called the crispy chicken sandwich. The hot N spicy is a different menu item entirely, something that's been on their menu for as long as I remember.

I did a smaller version of this one day just for fun. BK, Wendys, and McD's. I got the higher quality sandwiches though, no dollar stuff. It was Wendys>BK>>McD's for me. BK was a surprise though. I never eat there(or any of those 3 for the most part) but I was suprised at how decent it was. Idk where you live but we have Zaxby's chicken near me. I'd say they fit inbetween Popeyes and Chikfila for me. That said, Popeye's is the goat chicken sandwich.
You should for sure do more tier lists. I would love the perspective of a fast eater eating fast food.

The sandwiches were 3 hours old and continued to get cold and soggy! I think that makes a huge difference in rating the actual experience! Also the selection of sandwiches changes everything. Still interesting to watch !

Reginas Pizzeria North End, they are truly amazing. Their Buffalo Chicken one is the best, but in Boston you have to try Sal's Pizza as well, both S tier

McDonald’s and Wendy’s sandwiches are the “value menu chicken sandwiches”. Not the premium chicken sandwich. They have better options that you did not get.

Chickfilas sandwiches were about an 1.5" thick and stuck out of the bun until about 4 years ago. I remember the week I started noticing the change in size.. They started cutting food costs which essentially is a price increase in a sense. Now that their drive thru lines are out of the parking lot, they can downsize their sandwich and people will keep coming.
The actually use antibiotic free pasture chicken breasts. They are organic and healthy chicken, so they are automatically smaller than the rest.
