This album is such a Masterpiece. I have it on repeat. As a lifelong Steve's work fan, I am really blown away. He got his classic side, his playful side, his profund side, his sweet side, his classical-romantic side, and also his dark side all in one album. Perfect ❤

Looking forward to this one. We need more single LP concise Prog albums like this. Forefathers of Prog led the way and it is easier on a wallet as well. Nice review 👍

Yah I love it! It got me revisiting his 70s works, as it fits in with them in a cousinly way

'Spotty' is a fair comment on Steve's discography. Spot on with the comment about the length of the album - I always think 40/45 minutes is the ideal length.
Of the post classic Hackett albums: Defector's is a great album, Highly Strung, Dark Town are both very good and Under a Mediterranean Sky is terrific. The new one sounds very good - for me it's certainly, at least, up there with HS and DT.
Steve's recaptured some of the magic on this one - a veritable magical autobiographical kaleidoscope. Great to hear him let rip plenty with his trade mark guitar sound. After 50 year of listening to albums you know the best are the varied yet cohesive works of art and this is one of them - you can simply hear the care and passion Steve puts into making this. The keyboards sound great but more prevalence, and with the bass as you say and flute, would have added to the album.

I like what I've heard so far. I agree that some of his recent albums have been a bit interchangeable and he doesn't really feature them much in his live shows, apart from the WolfLight to Acolyte tour. I'm hoping that he will do lots of the new stuff live, especially as his touring band features so heavily. I'm looking forward to the Lamb shows in the autumn here in the UK. My copy should be dropping through the letter box very soon.

Excellent album. Heard around twice last night. Check out the last Sean Lennon album very avant garde, free jazz. Very cool!

At this point he hasn't anything to prove anymore.
He knows what he's good at and just does it.
"Originality" isn't a quality if it means you no longer have a set identity. You don't have to reinvent the wheel and hot water all the time.

I'll check it out . But it will never hang on my wall because the artwork is just awfull. Reminds me of King Crimson's first output.

I have always considered Hackett to be an absolutely "Singular" Guitar Artist - and his contribution to GENESIS elevated the band to its pinnacle! That said: You should not let your wife / partner have too much influence on your craft! Excellent musicianship, but...I could not even get through the whole record. Sorry, Steve! - and at least you can't blame the Ex-wife (Kim Poor) on the atrocious Album Art. As bad as her covers were, this one is ATROCIOUS!

      - and I do want to thank the person on this thread who mentioned the new Sean Lennon - all instrumental record that he just released on John Zorn's "Tzadik" label - "ASTERISMS" - It is fabulous, and it's exciting to see the son a BEATLE actually moving Forward - and making what sounds like "Mahavishnu" for the 21st Century! Way to Go, Sean!!!

calling out getting a pronunciation wrong while misspelling that very name, not using proper punctuation or capitalizations, and getting my nationality wrong is the kind of irony I live for 🤣🤣

So, the album cover is a deal breaker? I’ve streamed this one a few times and I’m going to order it. The music on it is amazing and if it had a turd on the cover I’d still buy it.
