    The song is her lamenting how she fell for a married man who did not let her know immediately that he was. She later learns that she can't make it public that they are having an affair. In this verrsion, the electric one, she is venting her anger and remorse for letting him fool her and she is blaming him. In the acoustic version she is more introspective and blames herself for falling and not being able to let go. Both versions are some of the best they have ever done. If you can find it the video of the acoustic version is very powerful and would be a great follow up.

    When asked who the best rock band in the world today is, it's not a puzzle at all. It's Band-Maid.

    KOBATO is not merely a “back-up vocalist”; she is one-half of the band’s “twin-vocal concept,” as well as the founder and lyricist.

    The acoustic version of this song is a must !! In the electric version, our Maid is angry & is calling the deceiver out. In the acoustic version, our Maid is heartbroken and sad. 😮😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘

      An absolute must.
      The pain in Saiki's voice breaks my heart. And Kanami's backing vocals are so sweet.

    Kudos on catching Miku's excellent backup vocals. Our beloved band founder, main lyricist and band promoter: We love our Small Pigeon! 🕊🤘

    I think everyone, myself included, has been in a one-sided relationship. One side is madly in love, the other keeps it at arms length, never really allowing the full closeness, but keeping it somewhat alive. The pain is horrible, but is always renewed, always irresistible. This song, both the lyrics and the music, this song is just so perfect. The power of the sound, the passion in Saiki's voice, just incredible.

    Back then, their lyrics used to be like playing their persona as maids in a rock band and their relationship with their masters/princesses (fans),

    It's a complete PUZZLE to me why the entire rock world aren't (yet) solid Band-Maid Fans! Is there some language / cultural / sexist chauvinism going on? Is it just incompetent marketing? Is there NO GOD? to give some justice where justice is due? ;-) Luckily for them, Band-Maid continues to accelerate in creative song writing, performance, and sold-out shows worldwide.🤘🎀🤘Thx Band-Maid fans, Maidiacs, and Winey Guy!

      @WineyGuyReacts it's part of a two song set the other song is Anemone and it's really good I watched it for the billionth time tonight. They have acoustic concerts as well. Please do more NEMOPHILA and have a look at Korean band called Rolling Quartz they are pretty good but don't have anywhere near as many songs as BAND-MAID. Just for fun check out Dogma they dress up as nuns try Forbidden Zone. Very naughty nuns.

    Thank you for returning to Band Maid. And thanks for highlighting their poetic lyrics and musical talents. They really are five perfectly fitting pieces of a puzzle 🧩 😏
    Variety is a Band Maid trademark. Because of your interest in lyrics, I think you would enjoy “DICE,” official music video is the way to go for this song

    Now, if you really want to understand how great a vocalist, Saiki Atsumi is, listen to "Puzzle", the live acoustic video of this song. It's the same song, same lyrics, BUT, with hauntingly beautiful backup vocals by Kanami Soto, the lead guitarist, the song takes on a completely different emotional tone from the hard rock version.

    Imo, maybe the best song they ever have written.

  • @rickwagner-
    @rickwagner- Před 8 měsíci +10

    Like most BAND-MAID songs, the lyrics were written by rhythm guitarist Miku Kobato.
    As you noticed, she also does a great job with the back up vocals on this performance.
    There are also a few songs that Miku sings lead on.
    Summer Drive
    Big Dad
    Beauty and The Beast
    TIME
    Rock In Me
    サヨナキドリ - Nightingale
    - The first three are pretty early. I think the last three are stronger songs.

    It is a song sung by a woman who has fallen completely in love with a cheating husband who will never leave his wife for her. She knows this love will destroy her, that she will never be happy again, but she can't stop loving him.

    Love your enthusiasm and attention to the lyrics. Some reactors don’t care about lyrics at all. I will say that Band Maid is a “headphones band”. It helps you in hearing all the great, intricate, musicianship going on. There’s so much goodness going on that, even with headphones, it takes multiple listens to pick up on it all!

    This band is full of surprises, not the least being that Miku Kobato turns out to be a lyrical genius, a true deep-thinking poet. She is an exception to the old saying of "still waters run deep". 🙂

    I watched this like a person taking their friend to see their favorite mystery movie. Waiting for the next clue to click into place for them. "Oh, you think it's nice she fell in love? That's nice." But silently, "Muhahahaha, just wait! It's not what you think!"

    Puzzle, Alone and Matchless Gum all have similar vibe, used to make me wonder if it was the same man Miku had in mind when she wrote the lyrics.

  • @thisismadness6962
    @thisismadness6962 Před 8 měsíci +8

    I think she had fallen in love with a married man. You should react to the acoustic version of Puzzle. The heartbreak comes through even more clearly. I think there is a good video of a live performance online on a fan site. The translated meaning comes through pretty good for Puzzle. For some songs the translation to English breaks up the meaning and you have to read a whole verse, or the whole song, to understand the meaning and emotion of each line. I'd like to see a fan with good language skills write a nuanced, line by line translation/explanation of the lyrics for their songs. Does anybody know if someone has done that?

  • @surfingasongwave
    @surfingasongwave Před 8 měsíci +2

    Lyrics by Miku Kobato (Kobato in Japanese is "small pigeon") and thank you for shining the light on her. The other four are such outstanding musicians that sometimes she gets overlooked (although she is the ultimate utility player) but her lyrics are poetic and deep and full of emotion. Like everybody else is saying, listen to the acoustic version - same chords, same melody (same backup vocals) but an entirely different feeling from the song.

    It's a love song, but it's not a _happy_ love song. The emotions are not symetrical. This performance is from the monster serving at Tokyo Garden Theatre in January. I got up at 3 am to livestream it, just excellence and energy for nearly 3 hours. Thanks for the reaction!

    A lot of the comments are on the mark. Miku says she likes to tell a story with her lyrics. The song is named ‘Puzzle’ because the married man she finds is the final part of her puzzle. At the end of the song, after he leaves to be with his wife, the puzzle falls apart. Reread the lyrics with the background in mind.
