    I've applied for bus driving through Arriva and they provided all of the necessary courses and exams for me to pass and drive for them plus they paid me weekly throughout the process. They taught me by driving a coach and the reason was to make it slightly easier once i start driving buses. I've drove for 5 years and i totally enjoyed every single bit of the journey but unfortunately once the pandemic kicked in i had to quit and moved abroad to marry my wife and start a fresh page. I must say i really miss driving buses and would recommend to anyone to go for it.

    I’ve been a bus driver for a year. To anyone considering bus driving you will work 7 shifts (early middle lates) each lasting 10-11 hrs before you get a day off. As a new driver your shifts will be changed around constantly to cover the other drivers who are either sick or on a rest days. You will be tired constantly. Passengers, if you can call them that, will be rude, threaten you etc. The only good thing is guaranteed weekly money and if you want overtime it’s always available. Plus you get a freedom pass if you stay in the job long enough. Other than that I would not recommend bus driving to anyone.

      @Andrew Harris: You obviously suck at what you do. I know a lot of bus drivers, and they *all* love their jobs! From what they tell me, the only ones who struggle are the ones who are bottom-of-the-barrel, low-quality employees who have always struggled with everything they put their minds to. Maybe working in a repetitive factory job would be more your speed.

    • @gwaredd242
      @gwaredd242 Před rokem +5

      Here's a tip.. Drive Coaches. Passengers aren't as rude. They rarely threaten you. If you do a coach trip it's different everyday especially if you go abroad. The only agro is if you stop for a break, say 40 mins, tell the passengers 30 mins. Because I guarantee you they will wonder off and not be back by the time you stated so you'll have to go round them up like cattle. This will put you behind with time. A pain in the arse if you need to catch a ferry and will mess up your hours and taco.

    I’ve been a bus driver two years for Stagecoach in Hull. There training team are amazing and the experience is amazing as with other places you’re put on a new driver rota when starting and you can get all manner of shifts however when finally on a rota like me it’s amazing and can’t fault it. As with all jobs it’s what you make of it but im on a 4 day rural rota and get out of Hull and into the surrounding areas on a regular daily basis and I love it and would highly recommend to anyone you get the odd day we’re it’s not the best but with what job don’t you? The odd passenger who you wish you hadn’t come across but as long as you keep plodding on it’s a top job 👊 3 days a week off isn’t bad either and also the way our rota works we get 6 days off every 4 weeks 👊

There is a lower than average percentage you need correct to pass, that is bonus top side but for hazard then take you time as this one can catch people out by rushing.

    Is it true that you can drive a 30 year old bus on a car license for personal use? In other words, you don’t have to get a special license?

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před rokem

      Highly unlikely, it's not something I've heard of before, if the vehicle is still categorised as a passenger carrying vehicle, then it still comes under a category D license, and therefore you would need the license to be able to drive it.👍👍

    • @BikerBearMTB
      @BikerBearMTB Před rokem

      @@NationalDrivingCentreI actually looked a bit more into this yesterday and you can actually drive a 30+ year old bus on a car license, as long as you’re using it for personal use (not earning money off transporting people) and you’re carrying fewer than 8 people, you can drive it. It’s on the governments list of ‘exempt vehicles‘ in this booklet they published. I think most people who own these old busses turn them into motorhomes or something, they don’t actually use them as passenger vehicles

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Před rokem

      @@BikerBearMTB yes this is correct, but if you turn your vehicle into a motorhome, then you have to re-categorise it with the DVSA. We've done this a few times with students where they have converted an old bus. Obviously if the seats have been removed to turn it into a motorhome then it's no longer a bus and they need to convert it into a C1 receive or a C.

Told you already the hips,etc and prepare to put a lot of wheight as you will spend most of your time seated . Also you will have a week early shifts ,another mids and another late s. When you start getting use to one you start another pattern and the body and mind doesn't get use to the change that quickly so a lot of coffee, red bulls etc to keep u awake 🤬. Will take a few years of this before you can make a request for early, mid or late permanently. You might think this job is a walk in the park but it isn't im afraid . Good luck 👍🏼🤙🏼
