As a massive Funhaus fan, it was really, really cool to see Lawrence outside of his persona. Phenomenal episode, as always.
Jack Kelley what persona? I thought Lawrence was being himself the whole time on Funhaus and On The Spot?

Is it? Or is he social HACKING these ladies? Think again.
In a lot of the earlier Funhaus/Inside Gaming videos, Lawrence talks about trying to figure out his on-screen persona. He ended up deciding on the Quintessential Gamer where he's an uber nerdy tryhard who gets crazy salty about everything. I've no doubt that Lawrence has a bunch of those qualities, but he definitely exaggerates them when he's on camera.
I see no hacking. He's not beating anyone with a baton.
If you haven’t already, you should check out his streams as well. He’s a really charming, and well-spoken man and has some profound things to say every now and then.

I guess we finally found out what the hell those boys over at Area 51 were doing; they were developing advanced AI and life-like looks for Lawr-bot.
Yeah. Odd considering that Lawrence, throughout the show, seems to be a very emotional (or perhaps passionate) person.
Watching him now, terrifies me, because this is all I can see. An AI talking about making observations and adjusting himself accordingly while refusing complacency.
Teaent I've said this many times. Don't worry about Ai killing every human and taking over or just using us as pets, because they'll be better than us and we won't matter anymore.

A screaming voice coming from a laptop is the truest form of Lawrence.
Lawrence was an awesome guest this episode. Lot's of guests that come on tend to be more reserved about being involved in the more personal topics, but he was all in and it makes the conversation a lot more interesting.
He seems pretty vanilla tbh
I haven't watched that much Funhaus content but the way he talked about that made me relate to him. I've never heard something that I could relate to as that, just the way he coped with things is almost the same way I do. I found it comforting, to not only hear someone talk about it but someone who has a persona on a social platform.
Knightguy200 I think a big reason he was so open is that they are open on funhaus. The dude soup podcast doesn't talk too much about things that always open talks about. But they are very open and honest on it. And like to see situations from many different viewpoints.
Lawrence is a perfect guest!

Man, this episode really opened my eyes to who Lawrence is as a person as opposed to the character or the strictly business quintessential gamer on Funhaus. Minus the booze, I can relate so hard. I just want to buy him a Dr. Pepper and talk it out.
ReplayStation Lawrence does indeed get a bad wrap by a lot of fans(from what I can tell from reddit, comments, Twitter, etc) but to me he has a sort of genuineness and kindness that I could appreciate and root for, I’m glad this episode worked for you and maybe others to help see who Lawrence really is as a person
Gonzalo Leon I mean, to an extent, most of the on screen personalities 'play a character'... when they're "on", they're trying to be entertaining, so you never really get to see some of your favorite personalities open up and get real. Always Open is really good for pulling genuine conversation out of its guests.
At Maggie's point about her looking through someone's phone:
Personally, I'm the kind of person who doesnt like people looking through my phone. I've got nothing no one else should see, but I value my privacy, even in a relationship. If my significant other wants to know something, I'm happy to show them. But respect my privacy, as I respect theirs, and please don't snoop through my things without my permission. That's a betrayal of trust all in of itself.
Being with someone doesn't entitle you to invade their privacy. Ask me. I'm happy to show you, if there's any question. I won't take offense to it, at all, and we can have a conversation about what led to the suspicion and how to prevent it in the future. But don't invade my privacy. That is a deal breaker.
If I'm just your boyfriend, serious or not, you aren't entitled to information that I wouldn't willingly share on my own. Perhaps I'm not comfortable with opening up about certain things, and that invasion and disrespect of someone's comfort and boundaries is a deal breaker.
So it's good she makes it clear that she prefers a no boundary relationship. Personally, I prefer to have boundaries and then cross them and open up on my own terms, in my own time. And I'd show anyone else the same respect and right to privacy.
Justin Thompson you may not have anything to hide but a lot of people do so a lot of people get burned in my experience and want to check because they lost the ability to trust. But that does not mean that there are a bunch of outliers that just have trust issues to begin with. In my opinion.
Same, same, same, same. As soon as she came back at Lawrence with "well that sounds like their problem.." I knew her point of view was very different than mine. I am a private person. If I have anxiety about sharing something, I need my SO to respect that and not just go through my stuff while I'm not looking just because they wanted to know. It's a huge breach of trust for me.
Same, I feel like letting my partner have some privacy shows that I'm serious about the relationship and that I respect them. That I don't need to go out of my way to pry into their life, and that I respect them as a person.

Maggie is annoying af
One of the best things I like about Always Open is the level of comfort when it comes to talking about issues or topics that are a little taboo. It might feel to some, like someone has gone too far, but I disagree. Never be afraid to explore, or at least talk about things, no matter how strange or out of place it seems. Because you never know who might have a question about such things. Keep up the great shows! Can't wait for the next season!
KBallelli They could easily change the name to Safe Space, there’s a level of comfort I get from this show, comfort I know exist but I don’t see/hear enough
I was worried when I saw Lawrence as a guest that he would pull a SP7 and just goof off the whole time, but he was amazingly vulnerable, candid, and thoughtful. I know he puts on some serious pants for Dude Soup as well, but that's in his wheel house (ha) so I wasn't sure how something so personal would fit for him. I'm so happy I tuned in and I really hope he's a guest again next season! What a great episode :)

I love Lawrence's perspective on things. I really don't know anyone like him in person so it's completely refreshing and unique for me. I'm a diehard Funhaus fan but it's always nice to see calmer, genuine Lawrence like on Dude Soup.

The things you can control, you should always try to improve.
The things you can't control, you should accept as a part of you and be okay with.
Learning the difference between these things is probably the hardest part, because they're not always the same for every person. It's part of learning who you are.
Lawrence is my hero.
The transition from Inside Gaming to FunHaus has been one of the best thing that has happened to me. Just being able to understand the people ive been watching on a somewhat personal level is great. I just love hearing you guys talk.
Lawrence is such an introspective, open, intelligent person, I always enjoy hearing his perspective on everything, on here and on Funhaus.
I'd argue that Gavin and Lawrence are the best guests they had on this season.
It's nice to see Lawrence be real on this episode. I'm not super familiar with Funhaus but I liked learning more about him. Thanks for opening up!

Lawrence's way of thinking when the show asked what he "liked about himself," really speaks to me. I'm glad he thinks in a really similar fashion as I do. And I get the whole break up thing. Crying and drinking? That was my thing for about a month. Yeah, wouldn't recommend it but I get it. So in short, thank you Lawrence for letting me know that there is someone who has a relation to me.

Two things that I love about Lawrence are that he's a completely honest and totally self-aware human being.
Polygamy does JUST refer to marriage. Not mad, not calling anyone out. Just, that's what the word means and how people use it.
Polyamory can mean a lot of things, but it boils down to being in a relationship with more than one partner where all partners have knowledge of each other. (But people who identify as poly usually know about themselves that they prefer non-monogamous (single partner) relationships.)
Polygamy is the practice of taking on more than one spouse and is used specifically for the context of marriage.
Also, this episode was amazing and made me reflect a lot on my own life. Never thought I would almost be brought to tears by the quintessential gamer.

Not gonna lie, this has kinda become the only Podcast I watch from the RT part of the company any more. Got bored with all the others, but this one is always fresh and interesting. Can't wait for season 4!

Part of it, I believe is how they put much more effort on connecting with their audience in comparison to their other shows. They want us to respond with feedback and questions, and for the most part they respond back

I am honestly in love with these podcasts. Always open has become a favorite of mine from Rooster Teeth
Im a newbie here but i wanted to say thank you. I related to a few topics discussed during this episode especially when Maggie brought up the way her father felt. I stressed a lot recently at work to point of having health issues that i am dealing with at the moment. I too have the issue of not giving myself enough credit and taking on more than I should for the benefit of others.

My only real want is for this show to be a little longer. I feel like there's so many times in this show where I've really wanted to hear something, whether it be a personal experience from someone, or just what they think, but it feels like it gets cut a little short.
