Glad to hear...but how did you prepare for sobriety? Would you personally spend more time to go to the beach than you have to get sober? Watch episode 103 "Preparing for sobriety" and get back to me: czcams.com/video/3QUxIW8X5bA/video.html
All of the emptiness, sadness, depression and ROOT CAUSES for feelings of inadequacy still remain. We have to BE HONEST with ourselves, cut the bullshit, and cut out ALL toxic behaviors. What's the point of getting sober if you still hang with alcoholics, or go through the same motions or still hang at the same places.
      ACTIVITY REPLACEMENT THERAPY!

@@GettingSoberAgain Sorry I'm just now seeing this. Sad to say I slipped a lot since then..but calmed down completely where its not ruling my life. Its still a battle but I'm down to 2 or 3 beers every other night. For me I just got burned out on drinking and still am. So when I do have a beer or 2 after that I start to feel disgusted and little by little its disappearing from my life. Compared to a year ago and the years prior I feel I accomplished alot. Its not perfect but I still see it as a battle and won't let up. Building my relationship with God and staying active has helped alot. Reminding myself to stay focus on building a better me so I can be a better person for the my love ones.

I was a heavy wine drinker for the past 18+ years. For the past year or more, I was drinking 2+ bottles a night. This past February, on my 50th birthday, I stopped drinking. No alcohol for more than a month so far. My swollen belly and concerns about my liver made me stop.Thoughts of dying of cirrhosis were really starting to get to me at night. Anyway, my swollen belly is going down, and I feel a lot better. I do miss drinking, though, because being fully aware all the time is hard. But dying with a failing liver seems like a far worse fate (although a failing liver could still be in my near future, considering how much I abused it).

Just completed 35 days on tribesober southafrica and i must tell you apart from coughing and phlegm, everyone of your points have been spot on for me. The thought of ever drinking wine again sickens me. My drinking started from early childhood traumas, but i have examined them and put them in their place. The biggest win for me has been UN-NUMBING. You rock. Keep at I am in this with you. Drinking alcohol is definetly going out of fashion like smoking. I of course used to do both. Smoked till 48. Hey i am feeling brand new. Hi WIN 1558, I'm 66 and relate to early trauma/fear that has unfortunately governed much of my life. I grew up with two Jekyll and Hyde alcoholics, but am not one. My personality is easygoing, respectful, and loving of others. I think that is a partial curse to getting sober. Have tons of AA under my belt. I keep pushing and my thoughts and actions are geared to say enough...but that also means making a decision. All the best to you and your long-term sobriety.

I stopped for 30 days in Jan 2020. I felt so good, I then challenged myself to 100 days, and felt even better. So, here I am 1-1/2 years later, and I still haven’t had a drink. That small break made me realize what a waste of time, money, and health drinking is. I am healthier, richer, and I have a lot more time to be productive. Try it in small steps or challenges, and not only will you love yourself more, but everyone close to you will love you more. If you’re successful, you will realize how much better life is without the booze. It’s like being set free. I wish the best luck to all of you that want a temporary or permanent break from alcohol.

Stay present, go through the pain because on the other side of the pain is pleasure.

I'm 57 started drinking last year. Progressively slowly got worse drinking more and more. I never drank until then. Am I an alcoholic? Even before drinking my coffee I have some wine! I crave it. Plus, I'm getting divorced after being with my husband since the age of 25. He's 13 years older than I. I come from a very bad childhood. Sexual abuse, abandonment, physical beatings, being locked in dark closets and my room since born. Starvation! You name it! It seems like I changed.in to a completely different person. I’ve been an alcoholic for 6 years. I drank a bottle of tequila every single day & went to the bar on top of that. I literally felt like I needed to drink morning until night just to feel normal. I’m surprised I’m still alive. Today is my first day without it. I’m going to try my best not to drink ever again. I wanna feel healthy again. I want to lose weight & start loving myself again. Thank you for this video, it was truly motivating 🖤

That's a lot of alcohol for a woman to consume in a day. Set yourself goals that are short then build off of them. 1 week sober. Then 2, then a month.. It's hard as hell but if you want it bad enough you can do it. Most important thing is have something to replace the time that you used for drinking. Have something that you like to do that's challenging.

Thank you for this awesome video, I also enjoyed reading the comments because they give me renewed strength to start again. The longest I have gone without drinking, has been 10 months. don't be so hard on yourself. if you didn't drink from January until July, and this, let's say, freelapse day in July was just that, a single freelapse day, you're still doing great. hell, if you had a single weekend freelapse per month you would still be doing great.
keep going. see alcohol for what it is and, most importantly, for what it shouldn't be: a crutch. and if you happen to feel like having a few beers at a certain weekend withing months of sobriety, go ahead. go and come back. we are all going to die anyway, so choose to live the good life. your body is not a temple, is an amusement park. enjoy the ride.

You'll get this. There are likely many people who had more extreme cases and they pulled through. That means you definitely can. Like he said, a good hobby to replace your original behavior will make it much easier.
Everybody has their talents, even if it's as simple as cooking and or doing craft shows or bake sales. We are all awesome, but the booze obfuscates who we really are. Find who you are while you still can.

I have a large amount of energy for work I have a positive attitude towards my job I take care of my lady and my little doggy with pleasure and he's ever since I'm not craving or just being a drunk idiot. My anxiety level dropped to a super low level which is very exciting because I have PTSD when I got stabbed nine times and 2007 and that's kind of the reason I started drinking so hard but it's to kill my anxiety. After 10 years of sobriety, I started drinking again. I can feel my health declining. My BP is through the roof. I literally spent my last $100.00 at a bar last night. I'm beginning to miss my sober years. That's why I am 'surfing' the internet - to remind me of the angst of drinking daily. I appreciate this man's enthusiasm and positive vibes. This is helping me form reasoning and the will to accomplish the power I need to overcome my addiction. Thank you for the good messaging. I can do this again

Matt, try switching the alcohol for cannabis and use that time to either watch comedy, something inspirational, do something creative or do some self-reflecting, particularly on negative experiences from your past. I gave the alcohol up because it did me little good, but I have a little bit of cannabis an hour before bed each night because it does me a kind of good that is unique. Yes, I highly recommend it, at least try it even if you fell 'it's not for you'.

I have been sober for 11 years and I lost many of my old friends and new ones don’t really feel comfortable if they drink and we are out. Then you have the ones that instead of supporting and admiring the work you have put in, are always pushing for you to have “ JUST ONE”
Throw in a vegan diet and you can pretty well be misunderstood on all sides. People act like it is a personal attack on their way of life. Well done to all the strong people here wishing to find a more meaningful life! Blessings all!!

      This is so frustrating.
Some, if not most people definitely like it’s a personal attack on them when I don’t drink.
It’s like I’m indirectly saying “your life choices are terrible, look how holy and right I am!”
What most people fail to understand is that my choice not to drink has NOTHING to do with them.
It is MY personal decision which only affects me.
It seems to bring out other people’s insecurities about their choices.
Not that I care. I really don’t but they fail to comprehend that

Thanks for sharing this video. I know I’m a couple years late but I’m on this very journey myself. Today marks 6 days sober from alcohol! It’s not a significant time under the belt but it sure beats the alternative. I’m already beginning to experience several changes you’ve listed since I quit last week and know it’ll continue to get better going forward. I did admit myself into an outpatient women’s only rehab facility to help provide me with necessary tools in remaining sober, getting to recognize triggers, all while working on my mental health. I’m eating much better and healthier. I have 2 children who need me and loving parents who would be mortified if they lost their daughter because I’ve noticed some bad health changes from alcohol consumption. The only way to heal is to put down the drink which I did. If I continue on I’ll be dead…I’m only 36! For all going through a new journey to sobriety, we’ve got this! And those who have a lot of sobriety time, I look up to you and cannot wait to reach that point myself!

I just wanted to thank you. I've watched your videos a handful of times before finally quitting drinking. I definitely didn't drink as much as some, but with drinking a bottle of wine nearly every night, it was way too much. This video has helped me immensely. I'm 24 days sober today and I've watched this video numerous times this month. For others: The first week was horrible, I was so moody and cravings were at an all time high. I had three really bad days, my child was hospitalized, I had two pets drop dead in the same day AND we are having some serious financial struggles. Three weeks in and I'm so glad I finally quit. I quit alcohol and weed at the same time so it was brutal. I've been exercising so much more and my scary and daily heart palpitations have disappeared! I thought these palpitations were just part of my life now. My skin looks amazing as I'm almost 40. Who knew I could look younger! I noticed better skin after about a week, plus whiter teeth! If you're struggling, keep going. Confide in someone. It was so hard for me to open up to my husband (who has been sober for almost 15 years), but I'm so glad I did.

    4. More energy. Sick of feeling fatigued ALL THE TIME. Can’t even remember what “normal” energy feels like. I’m literally always tired.
    5. Reverse “bedroom issues” and gain my libido back. Ugh. Nothing worse.
    6. Regain sense of calm emotional control. I’ve def noticed I’ve been less stable lately. Quicker to anger, to doom and despair etc. this ain’t me.
And if there’s more, those are just bonuses. Cutting out a several-year habit of about 6 beers/night, just about every damn night. I think it really took hold during lockdowns and hasn’t let up since. Now at 48 I’m really seeing the detriments to my health and well-being and am PUMPED to get things back on track! Thanks again for the encouragement!

After drinking daily for about thirty years, I quit a couple of months ago. I have to say that I do feel better physically, I sleep better and I’m more focused on my tasks. That said, Life isn’t near as much fun without it. I felt alive when I drank, now I just feel empty and lonely without it. I hope that that feeling goes away.

@@GettingSoberAgain Hey brother, yes I am great. Update: I quit drinking and smoking cigarettes and taking adderall and smoking weed all by the end of February 2021. I have had only small issue with tiredness once I finally put it all down. It took about six weeks for me to mentally prepare myself to put it all down and the first two weeks I was super sleepy.
I believe it has been by the grace of God that I don't have any cravings for nor have I had any for alcohol since late February when I quit. With that said I keep my guard up against alcohol and I plan to never drink again. I don't hide the fact that I quit and plan to never drink again. My ex wife also told me recently she has successfully quit drinking which was and answer to prayer and I can see she is so much better too.
Thanks for asking about an update. Since most people I know work remote they don't see the change that I've experienced so it is nice to share. I was going to go to AA meetings but never made it and honestly I just don't think about alcohol anymore. I've been delivered praise be to God and thank you Jesus.
