    Regarding reincarnation, he didn't mean it literally. He meant that by killing him, all the other Kang variants are released ---> leading to another multiversal war ---> leading to another version of himself coming to the same conclusion about creating a Sacred Timeline. So it's like, this outcome is inevitable. Not that this specific He Who Remains will be reincarnated.

If you’ve played the black ops games zombie modes before Cold War came out the story is the same idea. The characters were in an endless cycle where they’d make it through to the end and then get sent to something called the Great War in the 1300s and they’d die only to be born again and all meet up in world war 1. Each time they went through the cycle they would be slightly different, like one character could be the biggest prick but in the next cycle he’ll be the nicest version you’ve seen yet. Eventually they broke their cycle by doing the complete opposite of what they had done everytime in the cycle before.

    The 2018 scene of Renslayer has a framed certificate on her wall, awarded to Rebecca Tourmanet. In the comics that's a pseudonym that Renslayer adopts after she kills one variant of Kang and goes to live with another Kang variant, calling himself Victor Timely. So it's quite possible that 2018 scene is not the origin of Renslayer...hmmm

    11:03 I think it’s more of a thing of there were multiple timelines, Kang #1 destroyed them all so only the “Sacred” timeline existed thus only 1 version of Kang (himself). And killing Kang #1 basically rebooted the multiverse, creating multiple timelines thus multiple Kang’s to wage war against each other
    The Sacred timeline was nothing more than a trick to preserve all the perfect events that would lead to his, and only his, version of himself. If there were other Kang’s existing, they would have found a way to get to the sacred timeline, with or without the branches

    • @barryallen871
      @barryallen871 Před 3 lety +1

      The Multiverse has always been around, Kang/Immortus just isolated the "sacred" timeline. At least that's what he said, and what the graphic at the beginning of the episode implied. (Even if other Kangs could get in, I believe they fear Alioth)

    • @Wiesman1000
      @Wiesman1000 Před 3 lety

      My understanding is by isolating the timeline, he makes sure all infinite different multiverse timelines follow the "sacred timeline". Without his/TVA intervention they begin to branch. So that timeline circle in space is infinitely many timelines that are all basically following the same history of events. Then once he dies, changes start to occur, you have big branches, and as more changes occur it begins to cascade, the branches turn into a crazy web of infinite different timelines, where Kang variants will start to appear. I assume the "sacred timeline" was isolated as it was a timeline in which Kang never discovers time travel/multiverse travel.

    A few things come to mind. 1. i don't think reincarnation, i think when he said "see you soon" he meant you are about to meet a whole bunch of my varients and good luck with that! So even if one is to the viewer, idendical, they are still a variet.
    2. I think he has been managing the timeline somewhat arbitrarily with one main goal, dont let it spread mutliversaly too much and if more specifically, dont let my own varients exist. So as long as he keeps a timeline intact enough to stop that, including i suppose other people who would lead to the same shenanigans he did, then its fine. so loki could have beat the avengers and sylvie could get what she wanted, in the grand scheme of stopping the rise of kang, those are just other options.
    3. when he was killed and everything became unmanaged and branched, that happened through all time instantly, and infinite number of multiverses started to exist with infinite timelines and to any individual on that timeline, its always been that way. seeing the branches slowly grow is just narritive translation to try make it understandable, and they can tweak that description as they like a bit going forward because its never going to be truly straight forward to make sense of, they just need to try avoid contradictions.
    4. i find the concept interesting that we have never head of the fantastic four or richards before now because in the mcu timeline we know, they dont exist, because that is an important part of his decided timeline to avoid because it leads to varients of him. Hell maybe even all the other pruned branches are the timeline trying to correct to its free unaltered self, forwards and backwards in time. Times proper wierd in real life man, so let alone what they want to do when you try write it in stories

    The red lines could represent the neighbouring universes above and below this one, which is why the branches go up or down rather than being a graph of how doomed we are. It also explains the very concept of "point of no return" because "doors open from both sides" and we would basically be unlocking the door to this universe, so any old kang can march in.

    Re: Predeterminism vs free will - One could perceive this *TVA* scenario as making life meaningless. *But* the way I see it, *Kang* is simply one who has seen (or has access to) the entirety of the timeline. It's not that he's controlling everything, but rather he saw how it all went down. From my POV, we still made our own choices. He just happened to be privy to seeing those choices being made, as well as their ramifications throughout time (at least within our happy little timeline/universe).
    There wasn't an issue until they crossed over to one anothers' universes, and subsequently there was war. So *Kang* decides to do the *TVA* thing. Which just means that he wants whatever decisions we made in our timeline to always be the decisions/choices we made. We always had the choice to make them in the first place. And for someone who can bounce all-around time, *Kangaroo* just wants to see that everything happens the way it happened. _Am I making sense?_
    I imagine there are cracks in my conclusion. After all, this isn't easy, given we are limited to what is shared in the show. I've long been asking what the distinction is between a _timeline_ and an _alternate universe._ I think that's relevant to getting some the answers we seek.
    According to my theory above, _we have free will._ . .in our own little timeline/universe. So I ask, is what they seem to be calling _free will_ (i.e., what they're fighting for in the show) the ability to split off and create an alternate universe? Because it seems to me that's all it really is. It just seems to be a fight for the _the existence of alternate universes,_ not _free will._
    Without certain things clearly defined, we're just scrambling about. For instance, we can look at how *Loki* took advantage of what happened in _Endgame_ to split off from the timeline and create an alternate universe. But when *Sylvie* was taken, she had already been around for 8 to 10 years, so the fact of her birth wasn't the issue. . _.or was it?_ Perhaps it just took 10 years to find *that* Universe (or the cause of its creation) amongst an infinite number of universes. 🤔 That can't be right, can it? Well, each *Loki* did have a specific *nexus event.*
    On one hand *Loki* created an alternate universe when he snagged the tesseract. On the other hand those other alternate universes (alligator, *Sylvie,* etc.) were _already in existence._ In which case, each one would have to have its own timeline. 🤯
    I think I'm just going to have a lie down. 🛌

    I think we can all agree that Marvel just don't miss when it comes to casing:
    Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie
    Owen Wilson as Mobius
    Jonathan Majors as 'Kang variant'
    and that's just to name a few! Especially now knowing that we're going to be introduced to a whole host of new characters over the next few years it's nice to know the casting team are doing a good job as always!

    I liked how kangs place looked like Kintsugi, the idea is that when a pot breaks you repair it with gold or silver and it shows the history of it rather than trying to hide it.

      Steve and sharon wouldn't be incest though. Sharon is Peggy's grand niece meaning she is the daughter of Peggy's sister's child and doesn't share any blood relation to Steve thus him and her kissing is just normal weird, not incest weird

    “Kang” was credited as He Who Remains, who is a separate comic character who had nothing to do with Kang in the comics (but had something to do with the TVA at the end of time), he was some ancient yellow guy. I’m surprised the guys didn’t find that.

    I feel that Renslayer had perhaps previously figured out her origin and placement in the TVA and when that awareness was gained she was offered her current position in exchange for preserving the sacred timeline and the lie to others processed by the TVA. Her comics origin goes way back from my time reading The Avengers, so maybe this is common knowledge.

  • @lukelicursi6737

    I thought that Renslayer will be working helping the original (now dead) Kang to resort things back to normal. The files he sent her would lead her to work against the evil Kang. She could be OG Kang's ace in the hole. Regardless of Loki/Sylvie's choice, she would work to restore the timeline and bring things back to normal. idk thats what I took away.

    3:30 well apparently it is relevant kinda. The gold repair lines are in a style called Kintsugi. The idea is you repair things that are broken with gold to make it stronger, in the way that Kang has been 'repairing' his own timeline. Neat visual concept.
