  • This is my timelapse of fixing my mercedes with chickenwire and bondo. The bumper repair was necessary because the AMG front bumper is more rare than I thought and I couldn't get a new or used one. There was one used one I found for about $3,000...but I wasn't about to spend that much on a bumper. So I had to fabricate the entire thing with no experience or knowledge. It has held up great for about 2,000 miles so far!

    Well, now that you know you have the skills to shape the body work if you ever do break or crack it you can use fiberglass next time and see how it does.
    Getting lucky on the throttle cable issue was a great bonus and now you have a beautiful version of your dream car for cheap.

  • @pbpx

    Definitely a job for fiberglass, but the end result looks good!

      @TheInja  Před 3 lety +1

      Agreed! Just really had no idea where to start. Nothing online about fabricating a whole left side of a bumper!

      @haveabloodydeath Před 3 lety

      @@TheInja the easiest way to do it would be by fixing the damaged side with Clay and using that to create a negative mold of the entire bumper to lay the fiber in and using a vacuum back to distribute the resin and epoxy
      And make a new bumper
      The other more pain in the ass way would be to mold the good half of the bumper and mirror and duplicate it in Clay or foam and use that to make a negative to lay the fiber in and vacuum bag it to make a new bumper
      You could also find someone with a undamaged bumper that's willing to let you borrow it and make a negative mold from that to lay the fiberglass in to fix the damaged bumper or just make a new one
