It's day 2 of our 10 night West Indies Explorer on the Viking Sea! Today we are in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I really enjoyed the excursion here, a 3 hour walking tour. And it's time to sail away!! Oh, and things got a little rowdy for mom on the pool deck;).

Just thought about how much I adore traveling with my daughter. The two of us are so compatible on trips, mostly been college search and esp Disney til now, which my husband and son feel happy skipping. Now I’m 59 and she’s just 22. I’m retiring this summer, and she’sstarting out on her life plans/goals, so she’s going to be so busy. I hope as time goes on we can organize this type of trip occasionally, what a true pleasure that would be.

Only issue you would have is that your daughter wouldn't be allowed on this cruise line. You specifically have to be 18 years or older which may suck for families, but it also creates a lot quieter and relaxing experience. I would say that the average age of people on these cruises are about 60 years old.

I love Viking! We went on Viking River Cruise for the Christmas Markets! It was the most magical thing I have ever done. We are trying Viking Ocean next year!!!

Looks like you two had an amazing trip! I cruised with Viking for my first ever cruise last January to Cuba and it was phenomenal. Not sure if I could go on another cruise line with how beautiful, relaxing, and accommodating the cruise was.

Omg that happened to us on our Rome excursion. Said level 2. My mom couldn’t do it. We walked 6 miles!! What!?!? It should have been a level 5. Love the specialty included coffees! Yay! So fun!
That was really my only feedback about the excursions. There were a couple like that and we made it work but they really should consider older folks more and give more detailed info maybe??
Joyful Living with Jen Lefforge I agree 100%. Ours was on NCL. They really should have a rep from the cruise line go on all the excursions offered and report it within the excursion descriptions.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge did you do the Port Talk or whatever it is called? The person who gives them tells you about what to expect on your excursions. The guy we had told us that he personally wouldn't go on the Bay of Pigs museum tour because it only takes about 25 minutes to go through the whole museum, but that there are some people who love it because they love that topic. He told people that scheduled that tour, were more than welcome to go down to the excursion center and change their excursion if they wished to do so.
So you got on the day before and stayed in San Juan over night? That is a great idea. It would make for a much more chilled boarding day.
Yes and yes! No stress about flights or travel delays. I loved that part.
Man, allergic to rum, what a bummer. Beautiful scenery. Old San Juan is nice but the cobblestones are difficult to walk on.
I ended up doing some rum punch later and I’m ok with one but more than that I get a headache that literally lasts me for a couple of days. It’s not fun.
The ship is beautiful. On your instagram the crowd looked a little older. We are in our 50’s. Do you think we would enjoy a Viking cruise? Was the food good? Love your channel! Can’t wait to see more.
It’s older than a Disney Cruise crowd for sure but we met people of all ages! I also think since they are typically longer it’s a lot of retirees. Thanks for watching, Katherine!
I would say the average age is about 60, but I am 30 and I loved the cruise. If you like the casino's, entertainment, and all of the other flashy stuff that you get with Royal Caribbean and other ships, you probably won't like Viking. With Viking it's all about education, relaxation, and quality of your experience. All of the food is exceptional, the excursions are very informative and you get to do excursions that other cruises don't get to do because they're focus is more on having fun. For example when I went to Cuba last January, Viking is not allowed to dock in Havana because of how small the ship is. We had to dock in 2 cities on the southern part of the country, and then drive all the way to Havana. The drive sucked, but we got to see things that most of the people from other cruises would never get to see. Also your room steward will have your name memorized within about 6 hours of you being on board, and a lot of the waiters or other staff will remember your names if you see them quite a bit.
I so agree with that face when it comes to Campari.

Do you think you paid for all those extras in the price of the cruise or was is reasonably priced?
The cruise was around 6k including airfare for both of us for 10 nights. So you definitely pay more up front.
