    I am running the Primus Micro on a Campingmoon setup. It has the 9-inch Length Extension Pole for the lantern, which sits on the Remote Stove Adapter Stand. Then I have the BRS 3000T on the other. Man it works great. I bet this would work great as well. Thank you!

    Nice and bright. I’d like to put it into a miniature locomotive headlamp housing. Do you think the hammering of the wheels on the rail joints would make the mantle disintegrate? I guess the metal mantle would stand up better?

    you can get an adapter for those little pocket rocket type stoves that allows use of those bigger propane canisters, they are small and light enough that I would want one in my kit, if you come across the propane tanks why not be able to use them instead of depleting the fuel in your pack that you might need out in the bush or between treks from town to town?

      🔴 What Is Islam? ⚠️
      🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
      🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
      🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
      🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
      🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
      🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
      📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)[4] 📚
      🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
      🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.

    Interesting, I’ve never burnt in a gas mantle. Always just fitted them and lit the lamp. Does the pre-burn help the mantle last?
    Found myself the quality of the mantle used normally predicts it’s life.

    • @Iridium242
      @Iridium242  Před 5 lety +2

      Yeah supposedly, I am no expert on lanterns, but it was the way I was trained. I ordered a bunch of Coleman mantels for this one, they should be here soon and I will see if they last longer.

    • @Noeman2009
      @Noeman2009 Před 5 lety +1

      I use kerosene and gas lamp like this. I don't need to preburn the gas mantle. Just lit up and when finish store in its place. The gas mantle will get destroyed if gas flow is too big, touched or experience excesive shock.

    • @tkaald
      @tkaald Před 4 lety +1

      Instructions for gas mantle lanterns simply tell you to fit mantle, turn on gas and light them. There is no point preburning and getting fingers burnt.

    Get a 1 pound Propane bottle instead. They have a Lindel to 1lbs adapter for like $10 buks on Amazon.
    I changed to just cooking my stuff with a Self Igniting Torch Tip, because they won’t let me take fuel canisters on an Airplane ✈️
    I’m not paying $5 for Starbucks coffee just so I can get some Hot water to cook my Raman Noodles 🍝
    Just heat a camp cup on the side, I mean the whole thing is metal anyways just set it on a rock, concrete or a 500F silicone cup coster. I use it to heat up cans of chili or whatever else I put in the metal camp cup. I buy a 1 pound propane bottle when I get off the plane & connect it to my Touch Tip that’s like $13 @ WalMart - $17 @ Home Depot. Then when I get back on the plane I just give the propane bottle to someone else to use & throw my touch top in my bag.
    Transport, Food, Shelter, Toilet, Shower Laundry 🧺, Comm’s are really the only necessities when visiting somewhere, & if you are goi g to a place that has a Wal Mart you can pick up a tent for $26 buks. It’s at cheaper than a hotel room. Then just give it to someone before you leave, because the airlines charge $41 to check luggage. This way you can travel with just a carry on.

  • @KrypticPatriot
    @KrypticPatriot Před 5 lety +1

    One bonus is that fuel flows better at lower temps. Propane stops working in the negatives...

    • @davidhawkins847
      @davidhawkins847 Před 4 lety +6

      Actually you have it backwards. The butane has trouble the lower you go in temp. That's why they add propane to the mix. This helps some when you're in lower temps, except what usually happens is you burn up all the propane in the mix.

    • @DirtRoadReset
      @DirtRoadReset Před 2 lety

      David took the words out of my mouth. I concur with him, you have it backwards. Butane SUCKS in low temps and won't work. Propane is much better in low temps.

    • @davidhawkins847
      @davidhawkins847 Před 4 lety

      They can put off heat depending on how large an area a d the outside temp. I used one inside a cabin in freezing temps and it did help some. Cabin wasn't fully enclosed so the heat wasn't retained.

    Hello Sr.
    Do you know how can I use this kind of lamp with a 8oz cartridge butane fuel canister, the tall ones that are used with square stoves?
    For stability it has to be hanged, I guess, but, it is possible?
    I believe I would need an adapter.

    • @wanderingcalamity360
      @wanderingcalamity360 Před 3 lety +1

      It's made for isobutane camp stove canisters.
      You would absolutely need an adapter for it.
      That said, you can also get an adapter to refuel the isobutane canisters with the butane cylinders that you're referring to.

    will the mesh globe fit over the glass or will it replace it completely? the reason if it replaces it will the wind effect it and blow it out??? thinking of getting one for my fall hunting trip.

    • @davidhawkins847
      @davidhawkins847 Před 4 lety

      Yes the wind can affect it more if you have a mesh globe instead of glass. It's also less light transmission supposedly.
      I don't know if it is still available but optimus or primus sold one with the mesh globe which I had for backpacking and lightweight camping because it used the same fuel. At that time they didn't have decent cases for them. With the case that comes with this one it may be time to look at something new since I no longer have mine.
      I think its Primus that also makes a single mantle propane lantern with the same bayonet style burner. Their mantles should also fit unless they changed them.
