  • In this video, I will run down how to set your camera (not just canon cameras) to shoot in a cinematic setting. This is one of those videos that I wish that I had watched to speed up my video content creation earlier on. I hope this video serves you well!
    Here's some of the latest videos of mine where I use the Canon G7X Mark II

    I watched several of these video camera settings for the G7X and-this one was the most-helpful and was simple, easy to understand, implement. I just started my channel and was feeling overwhelmed by the entire process so good job!

    Would these settings work for the Mark III as well?

      Ah great question. So, the Canon G7X Mark iii does not have 24 fps. Thats a huge downside that of which is stated as a “upgraded canon point and shoot. Also, one of the personal reasons why I won’t switch to the mark iii even with its 4k. I feel they stripped the one key component, and should have been leaving in the 24fps option.

      @@krisca819 in my opinion, the canon m200 is going to be the better camera for your situation. About 4
      More megapixels and it has a higher ISO if you need to shoot in low light situations.

    What about the ratio for IG ,potrait video? Can we still use the same setting?

    • @therealjimmac
      @therealjimmac  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, you are able to shoot portrait mode like 9:16. It’s not going to affect your camera settings.

    hi Jim, at your video 3:44, my camera is showing just 4 types of movie record size selection. nothing like yours. FH50P, FH 25P, HD25P and VGA25P. Not sure why? if you know why please let me know. TIA. Cheers

      It would seem to me that your camera is pre set or is a model made for UK/Europe setting standards

    Why is 24fps better than 50fps? I'm sure file size is more manageable, but assuming one has enough storage, would it not look crisper?

    • @therealjimmac
      @therealjimmac  Před měsícem +1

      It’s all personal preference, but shooting in 24fps gives your footage a cinematic look. When you shoot in 50 or 60 fps, the action taking place in the footage will look more sped up and it doesn’t have that nice ever so slight motion blur that 24 fps gives you. 60 is good if you shoot action sports or if you want to slow down your footage in post to make it look slow motion

      @therealjimmac , oh ok; that makes sense. Is that the same when it comes to 4k vs FHD?

    What is meant by cinematic?

    • @therealjimmac
      @therealjimmac  Před 5 měsíci

      It means “motion picture” quality. Pretty much any movie you have watched (depending on where you’re from the US: 24fps UK: 25fps
      So what do I mean by that? FPS stands for frames per second. The word “frames” also means picture/photo. So, when you take a video with a camera, the camera is actually taking multiple photos. So, in the movie industry, they shoot in a frame rate of 24fps (or 25 if your from Europe)
      That being said, cinematic means there are qualities such as FPS that give off the “cinematic” look.
      Notice how movie quality and tv/broadcast have a different look to them. Your brain subconsciously knows tv shows are tv shows and movies are movies and one of those reasons is because of how each type of video is shot in. Tv shows/news are usually in 30fps, but when you watch a movie, you know it’s strictly a movie. Try seeing the difference for yourself and you’ll start to pick it out more and more.
