  • Have you ever opened a credit card, bought a phone plan, rented a car, or signed an employment contract? If so, there is a good chance that you have signed a forced arbitration agreement. These agreements discourage victims from pursuing valid claims and make it harder for workers and consumers to hold big business accountable.

Arbitration should be against the law. These corporations are being able to work people off the clock and pocket their wages. It happened to me. I tried to join a class action lawsuit against my employer and it took 2 years but the judge ruled that the arbitration we signed wont allow us to win. It was a back and forth case. I honestly did not even know that I signed any arbitration agreement. But apparently, I did. Companies are grimey and should be held accountable for their evil doings.

Cell service companies say it not forced because you don't have to buy from them. They all have this clause now, so it is forced. Some allow you to opt out. I have lost all the respect and trust I had in businesses because of this.

Class action suites have stopped some majorly horrible crimes that otherwise would not have.

It's getting to be impossible to use any service or license a product without signing one of these agreements. Even consumer products and utilities are now enacting mandatory arbitration clauses as part of their terms of service. Such practices should be outright illegal.

I don't understand. I was always under the impression that you can't waive your rights.

it used to be that way, unfortunately the supreme court allowed you to waive your right to a jury trial, and under that system abuse becomes a huge issue.

I’m prepared to unionize my workplace over forced arbitration alone. Costing me my job or not.

Forced arbitration should be banned completely. In today's society, there should be a law or bill to protect the consumers if they don't want to sign or agree to the MANDATORY Arbitration that the businesses FORCE the customers to sign before providing the services or products. Arbitration Agreement should be an option to the customers instead of a forced agreement. If the customers choose to opt out and not agree to the arbitration agreement, the businesses CAN NOT refuse providing the services or products to the customers. Customers believe that Arbitration is an UNFAIR practice to resolve a dispute and should be banned, since arbitration is always in favor to the businesses and not the customers. Arbitration could lead the businesses to cheat and do more harms to the customers and can get away with it. If arbitration has to be in the contract, make it as an option for the customers to opt out and not a requirement for providing services/products. Business dispute should be resolved under the court of laws and not based on the biased subjective opinions from the arbitration. Thanks.
