To add more grain of salt to Nirvana fans, they covered the most corporate Nirvana single and song in the most corporate Nirvana Album.
Nevertheless, I still believe that Imagine Dragons did this to cover a popular song in the 90s which I have nothing against. However, if they were to introduce Nirvana to younger audiences, I'd rather have them play underrated songs like Aneurysm, Breed, Milk It, or Love Buzz (Nirvana Cover).

I though it was just fine, and the singer seemed very nervous and emotional, so a few mistakes are to be expected. I don't know, I though it was kinda sweet.
Not really the right kind of band to cover this, and he obviously didn't bother to learn the lyrics very well, but the guitarist is fabulous.

Why do bands like these do that though?Imagine dragons, Coldplay, maroon 5 etc. they have guitarists, bassists and drummers but most of their songs don’t even feature these instruments or doesn’t have them as prominent. Like what’s the point of being a band you can only be a solo vocalist if you’re not gonna use the rest of the guys.

Well their last album was an improvement. I hear bass in at least some parts in songs like Lonely, Wrecked, Easy Come Easy Go, Giants, Dull Knives (?), No Time For Toxic People and also some live versions of Cutthroat
As a fan of both Imagine Dragons and Nirvana this was amazing to listen to. I wish they could do this on an album as a bonus.

Hoss Sawyer that was in a basement as teenagers, this is in front of a lot of people with better gear, in a professionally set up auditorium.
This would be a pretty cool cover if the singer actually knew the words. The cover is pretty high-energy and fun to listen to, but It's obvious they didn't really practice. Imagine what it would be like if they actually did.

Guitarist did a pretty shit job actually, hes playing it in wrong tuning it sounds like, hes forgetting to mute strings when your supposed to and he fucked up the solo. I get that its not gonna be amazing but he could of atleast put some work into covering the song a bit better.

No, he just hated the song's fame. Kurt wrote the song because he was "disgusted by his generation's apathy". Tying that in with wanting to create the "ultimate pop song" as a joke, he formed a clever song.
True, Krist and Dave were against the song at first, but Butch Vig (their producer) insisted they finish the song and publish it.
That song ignited the "Grunge" and "Alternative" genres, and became the #1 alternative track on the charts. Kurt being Kurt, he refused to play it a lot of shows to "weed out" those who just wanted to hear a pop tune.
He may have put up an appearance of disgust for the tune, but that's only because he hated the mainstream media and it's popularity.

I think more people would understand just how dynamic this song really is it they just tried to sing it. Even for Kurt it was impossible to nail spot on. Such an incredible vocal range is needed. And don't even get me started on the drums. Just try singing it people, it gave me deeper appreciation.

I don't think Kurt's is legendary. And I think Dan Reynolds is not Kurt so he never would sing like him and his band never would make music like Nirvana. There are different styles.
It is not up for debate whether or not Kurt Cobain is legendary. History of music and rock n roll simply backs that.
Since Kurt is no longer with us, its good when any modern band covers a classic/defining song of one era and connect it with new era. After all these modern artists are fans of Nirvana just like we are!

xWolfyx This is just my opinion.... I don't really think that we can know what kurt would hated and loved! These are stuff that only kurt can say and no one else! By knowing some facts about Kurt, doesn't mean you can just put words in his mouth and be totally sure about it!
Have you listened to all apologies covered by lorde? Kurt would have been pissed. I don't know why y'all are worried about this.
Except for the fact that Lorde did a really good job at All Apologies by actually doing something interesting with the song. Imagine Dragons just sound like a high school cover band with really expensive equipment.
Aaron Donelly Oh my god, like, get over it. So what, Imagine Dragons didn't sound exactly like Nirvana? Is that a crime? Fall Out Boy's cover of What's This didn't sound exactly like Danny Elfman, My Chemical Romance's cover of All I Want For Christmas Is You didn't sound exactly like Mariah Carey. And everyones fine with those covers. Also, Kurt Cobains voice was guttural and grungy and often times it was hard to make out what he's saying. Especially in Smells Like Teen Spirit. Stop giving Imagine Dragons crap for not getting the lyrics and tune exactly right.

I listen to both bands and i think that Nirvana would be proud of them. Okay, this version wasn't perfect, they just tried and there's nothing wrong with that, they putted on all the energy in this song and they played as good as they could. People who say that this is a fail are just fool, replay the song and pay attention to the SOUND if you think the voice wasn't good.

this a great cover before I found nirvana imagine dragons was my favourite bands they're still one of my favourites
That was honestly so good. I can really tell how much they were inspired by nirvana by they way they know the song so well. That solo was spot on and played at the exact right time and everything, they didn't even skip any parts! He even nailed all the lyrics. Kurt would be so proud if these guys if he was still here.
Its impossible to cover a Nirvana song. They did a great job. Brass balls props. Raw classic forever.

Personally I really liked this cover, the guitar and the drums are loud and badass imo. Only problem is that the vocalist's voice is just not fit for this kind of genre, let alone this song.
It wasn't meant to be a serious attempt really, I was there and it just sounded like they wanted to do a song that they enjoy :)
You are right about the vocals. His vocals just sounded completely stupid in this song!
the recording is not good enough....the grunge in the singers voice is not audible for that reason...otherwise he has a very powerful and raspy voice
