  • In this video, Ricky Molina reviews all the chords to the Dire Straits song "Your Latest Trick." It's one of the most beautiful songs written by Mark Knopfler, in Ricky's opinion. It's a jazz number with famous trumpet and sax solos. The chords are tricky, but doable as Ricky walks you through them one step at a time.
The song "Your Latest Trick" is off of the Brothers in Arms album released by Dire Straits in 1985.

Had this as an ear-worm best part of a weak, same four lines way out of sequence, driving me crazy. Tried to get rid of it by singing khe sahn by cold chisel. Usually that works but not in this case. Decided I would have to learn the whole thing so that I can complete the song and finish it. Gonna take some work by the look of it, but this tutorial makes it easier. Thanks Rick. g.

Hi Ricky. try an AmM13 after the G#7 played (low E to high) X04554 instead of the straight G#7. Also on the 'holding chord' D9 put a G# note on the top of it making it a D9#11.

Hi Ricky, Beautiful description of this great song intro by MK!! Question: At 6:13 of the the video you play a chord that follows the G# Aug. You labelled it Cm(Maj7)/Gb. To me it says "C minor Major 7th with a Gb bass. On the G-string, you're on the 5th fret, with the D and the B string on the 4th fret. The G string note is colored blue. I can't hear that note being played in the chord (maybe it's just my 70-year old ears!). So 2 Q's: why is the note colored BLUE and is the bass note on the D string? Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
