- Continuing the discussion about the best poker chips in the world we'll discuss my favorites as of Jan 2017. Remember this is just a list of my favorite. Quality control, price, some other third thing are all put on the back-burner to my likes.
There should be some new releases 2017 (I hope) which means this list could change at anytime. Even without a new release this list will likely change by the end of the year.

yay!
great comprehensive video Jon. glad to see the Pharaoh's worked their way up to number 3. those were the first set of chips that I bought after watching your reviews in 2016. Pharaoh's and Dunes have been my favorite stock chips for awhile now. next on my list to try are the Key West. can't wait to see what other awesome designs are released in 2017.
i thought he drew on his felt for a second.
Aiden Leshovsky, I did as well.
Appreciate the video and the links. I'm tired of cheap crappy plastic weighted chips, been looking for a great set of ceramics and your video has given me many ideas
love the bell curve explanation!
Recently got into playing Poker, and started liking the Ceramic Chips (never owned any) - the sound, the feel that I got to know from your video is very valuable. Thanks for doing this video.
When it comes to ceramics, BR Pro Poker makes the best ceramics. If you can afford them, I'd highly recommend a set from them as your first set. You won't be disappointed.
I own a set of 750 Nexgens for tournaments and I really like the chip. Classy looking chip. I ordered 50 Milanos to look at for a cash game set. But I do really love the look of the Pharaohs. I just really prefer the look of the classic looking chip. Any of those three would be welcome on my table.
I just ordered the Milanos! Can't wait to get them!!
I ordered a set of 500 last year an they are great! There is a smell to them and dust. Having some mineral oil on them is a nice plus.
merlin632 good to know. Thanks!
im thinking to order milanos. Any reviews?
Cool review man!
Hi, newbie here. I really enjoyed your video. Great looking chips. Do any of the chips featured in your video have stickers on them?
The Dunes, Pharaohs, Majestic, Milano, Ascona and Pro Classics in this video all have sticker labels. Hope that helps, good luck and thanks for watching.
if had to choose right now...which set would you go with? Dunes? or Tikis? etc etc
Are your reviews of the tiki kings after BR Pro was purchased by ABC Gifts and rewards? They are using their own custom ceramic blank and not sure how those compare. Thanks.
its between pharaohs and dunes for cash games and lucky dragons for tournament
Everytime I see the Paulson top hat n cane I get so sad. I used to own a set of 500. Someone broke into my house and they were one of the items stolen. Now you can't find them and if you do they cost 3x what I paid. Anyhow. I'm getting back into home poker games and looking for a new high quality set. So far I'm liking the look of the dunes and majestic. Seems like these best resemble the paulson's. What do you think?
Couldn't make my mind up I bought the tiki ,Milano and Nevada jacks
Jaime Rivera jr what do you think of them so far?
Dunes, Tiki kings and Nevada Jack are my 3 favs in that order! The Dunes are the best for the price!
why dunes not the pharaoh's / majestics? theyre all china clay no?
Any chance you could review the Everest poker chip?
A reason why Laurel Crown chips didn’t make your list?
Jon what do you think about the classic chipco chips? I have a set of 400 but have not been able to add to my set because no one appears to be selling these anywhere. Right now I'm looking to get a whole new set for this reason.
I really like the Chipco classics, I have a sample set. I would email PGI and ask them is they will make you some. They might, not sure. Probably the usual custom rates. Hope you find some, good question, thanks for watching.
1. GOCC Windy Crest (by far my fav)
2. Archetype (Sidepot)
3. Tiki King
4. Ascana
5. Apollon Classic (Suits) -- (Would make an awesome Tournament set)
6. Chipco Classic (Not sure if they make them anymore but you should be able to find and buy some that are new)
7. BBO "The Mint"
8. Nevada Jacks
9. BBO "No-Brainer" Zombies
10. Dunes
11. Apollon Classic (Mosaics)
12. Scrolls Ceramics
13. Pharaoh's (Paulson's) - Not sure if you Paulson makes these anymore (???)
14. Nile Club
15. In-Play Clay (Sidepot)
16. Majestic's
17. Paulson Private CardRooms (Don't make these anymore but I really like these)
-CPC now sells stock design chips. You dont need to resort to key west.
- i notice you get your samples from brpro. A friend of mine got dropa disc samples from brpro and also got dropa samples from old west poker and they were very different in quality. Old west being better. I ordered valentino samples from brpro and then ordered a set of Valentino straight from sunfly and they are alot different than the br samples. I dont know why this is. But maybe its because the samples are old and they have improved manufacturing methods
CPC Rounders?? Are you kidding me? These are awesome! See everyone, people know WAY more about this stuff than I do. Great comment, I'm getting some of them chips.
QUESTION: Can you give me a link to that green case @ 12:02? I am looking for a case that holds chips w the plastic casino trays (100 count) - I really do not like the acrylic carriers and would rather have a more durable case. Maybe do another vid? Thanks!
Custom from a camera case: czcams.com/video/6928G2bBrss/video.html
is a Copag poker chip legit or just branding? will you try a copag poker chip?
Which chips have no sticker for the numbers?
Would you still recommend the Paulson chips if you can find them? Or do you suggest the China clay chips instead?
Yes, I would take a good deal on a used Paulson set over China clays. Just my opinion. Thanks for watching.
Wow do I be delving in some nerd ass shit this channel takes the cake, subbed.
Nevada Jack's are the best pokers chip around! No other poker chip design comes close to the authentic artwork and feel of those chips!
I know they've been released _after_ you've written your comment, but Dia De Los Muertos comes close to Nevada Jacks.
tikis are very nice i have them now and they are adelight
How did Nexgen beat out either Pioneer or Dunes commem?? :O
The only problem with the Pharaoh chips is that certain denominations are thicker than others. My friend has them. They would be the perfect chip if it wasn’t for that.
have you checked out the lucky horseshoe chips?
Hi Jon,
Great videos. In your Greatest Chips 2016 video, you said the Milano was your favorite China Clay chip but in this video you rank the Milano # 7 lower than the Majestics, Pharoahs and Dunes. Why do you rank those chips higher now than the Milano now?
I was hoping to be more clear on this subject. Milanos are still my #1 recommended chip. This video is just my personal favorites. Milanos are available on Amazon and a dozen other sites making them much more attainable to the masses. Majestics, Dunes and Pharaohs are only sold at Apache. Tiki Kings have a 3 week wait while they are manufactured. Those top 10 are all so close, sometimes they switch because a butterfly flaps in wings in Beijing. Thanks for mentioning this, I didn't make it clear and thanks for watching.
The Nevada Jacks changed production companies in 2014 and the newer chips are only 9 gram, smaller diameter, rounded edges, slightly different coloring...especially on the yellow chips and quality has dropped.
In the current market, what would be close or just as good as Paulson?
That is the million dollar question. Classic Poker Chips is the last comparable chip maker still producing chips, but comparable doesn't mean they are on the same level. I'd look for retired or defunct casino Paulson sets, like Cleveland Horseshoes. Thanks for watching.
I find that Paulson poker chips are the Rolls Royce of poker chips. Forget the ceramic and plastic because they sound and feel like shit. Nothing beats the classic sound of compressed clay chips like Paulson. You can't even buy them at retail anymore. You're only and best chance would be eBay and they don't come cheap. But when you use them at the table for a game all I get our compliments about how beautiful and great sound and feel from the other players. Nothing today comes close to Paulson chips.
Those are the clay Dunes right? So you pick those over the other material(forgot the name) Dunes?
trebor229 i think they are plastic. The china clay dunes are better. You can also buy real paulson dunes from spinettisgaming.com or apache for a ridiculous price
Yes, I like the clay more than the those other ones. The "other ones" feel just like the Nexgen Pro Classic chips at #10, I have no idea what to call them so I call it "the Nexgen material," even though Nexgens used to have metal inserts. It's just a big mess. The Nexgen material Dunes are also nice. They would be #10 if the China clay version wasn't around. Hope that helps, thanks for watching.
My favs at each price point:
Econo: (
BTW... I would love to see you treat these price points separately.
For example, what's your favorite chip in the econo range? I'm guessing from your reviews that it's the 'NextGen' Dunes... and yet those didn't make your top 10.
Thanks again for all the work you put into these videos... very useful information. Helped me a bunch in sorting through the chip options out there.
whats the cpc rounders? the one with the bear? where do u find it? is it china clay? how does it compare with pharoahs / dunes? thanks!
www.pokerchipsonline.com/stock/index.htm is the current link. They are NOT China clays. They feel.... different. They are like a gold medal gymnast's abs if China clays where an average gymnastics spectators abs. Maybe someone else can explain it better.
So theyre not made out of the same material? how different do they feel? and how would you compare them to the paulsons? damn theyre freakin pricey!! are they really THAT good??
So they should be similar in feel to the Key West? Looking forward to your video on them!
I notice that apache sells the Paulson chips are these replicas or the real deal they even have sample sets
They are real. But when they say .casino used it means just that. They are used and worn
Jaime Rivera jr they do sell mint new ones tho. Make sure you read the description
Hey man, I like your videos! I was wondering if you had any experience with the Laurel Crown Ceramic set? I am looking into getting that set, but the Milanos are a close second.
czcams.com/video/d3zWWlEluWs/video.html Yeah, that is a coin flip. Both are good sets. If you get Milanos let us know if they've solved some problems like thickness and other quality control items. Thanks for watching, good luck!
Nevermind, I found your adventure series and saw the set there! So it seems as though most Ceramic sets are basically the same but with different designs...I am thinking I might bump the Milanos set up over the Crowns due to the "spinning" issue...I have a set of Ace Casinos already and they dont spin at all.
Well I ended up going with the Laurel Crowns because the Milanos didn't have the denominations I needed for my game. I think I am happier this way because I really like the design of the Laurel Crowns and figured I might as well try out ceramic for the first time. I'll let you know what I think after I use them a couple times!
Could you point me to the Ascona review? Thank you!
The Ascona review is being replaced, Sunday. But, if that's too long to wait I do have a copy hidden, shhhhh, here: czcams.com/video/16_Sk-kUrfQ/video.html THIS message will self destruct - Sunday - maybe. Thanks for watching. EDIT: this is a different video from the one coming out Sunday.
Bonito set Tiki. Yo quiero comprar uno igual!! Gracias
Own any Barbelly chips? Thoughts?
Brybelly is Claysmith Gaming, sooo....yeah....I think we all know his opinion about Brybelly chips.
Say NexGen Pro classics are "entry level" looks up price...
They look way to nice to be "entry level" anyways..
Milano, is my pick
NJ is my #1
Paulson World Top Hat and Cane is the Rolls Royce of poker chips hands down. All others are imitations.
Why the dunes over the pharaohs? theyre from the same mold no?
Looks and memories. I loved the Dunes in Vegas, more specifically the Oasis Casino. You are absolutely right, at this level of China clay is just comes down to looks/preference. Thanks for watching, good question.
got it, just wondering do they look much nicer after having them oiled? because i saw a photo of them with the original paulson pharaoh's and the original paulsons look A LOT more vibrant.
It's a poker chip not an poker chip!
N
He's using "n" as a variable, not the word an.
Nevada jacks are literally 10 bucks a piece.. what the absolute fuck..
I know what you are saying with the curve. But here is he deal. The reason you do what you do and the reason everyone watches is so you can tell everyone which of those that fall in the bell curve are the best, and for what reasons. I don't need you to tell me that bicycle plastic chips are below average and Paulson's are above average, and you know that, and don't review them.
All of the popular chips that are mainstream, which are what you review, are going to be average, nearly all of them. I think you have given one below average and one above average in all the vids I've seen.
We want to know how they rate among all the average chips you review.
Like I said before, thanks for what you do, but Id probably not make a video to explain why your viewers aren't going to get what they want. I'd give it to them! :)
The viewer's opinions are of more value than mine. Your point is well taken, thanks for watching.
Maybe you can do this for average chips: point out in wich area a chip would fall in the graph, in your opinion. So like more on the left or right of average?.. Just a thought.. Love your stuff.. keep it coming :)
Thanks man. There is nowhere else to go with this type of material. Well done making it happen.
I bought the milanos i should have bought the majestic chips
Joona Pukkila why what's wrong with milanos?
Joona Pukkila i find the majestics feel more plasticky than the milanos. Dont know why
I agree. I got sample set of Majestics and Milanos before buying. Majestics look better imo. But the Majestics are very plasticy, almost all spinners, and feel too slippery. Stacks feel like they're going to topple over easily. I went with Milanos. I absolutely love them. Classic look. Great feel. I have a 2500 chip set. I made a video review. Please check it out!
@@lash403 That's because the Majestics _are_ more plasticky than the Milanos in a literal sense of the term.
Now that you mention it, I do think you're a kook...
The same kind of kook as me, and I like it this way...
PAULSON OR NOTHING
Alejandro Saca no money in the bank with some nice chips or money in the bank with medium chips
Yes! Paulson Top Hat and Cane chips. The fucking best!
