    They are awesome!! I will never forget the RC10 I got as a kid ...we raced hornets and frogs and stuff in a track we made in the woods by my house and when we got a RC10 it was so much better it floated over all the bumps in the track the body stood flat and all you seen was all the A arms moving it was shocking I think all my friends and my jaw dropped that day when we all drove it! It was so advanced for it's time that they still run great today!

    The original RC-10T came with gray, hard anodized and teflon (PTFE) coated "Team" shocks and 2 sets of front wheels and tires (narrow and standard width.) Later on, Team Associated released a budget version, sometimes called the RC-10ST for Sport Truck, which substituted some parts for cost savings. The Team shocks, ball bearings, and universal drive shafts were replaced with Gold shocks, brass Oilite bushings, and standard dog bones respectively. Also missing were the narrow front wheels and tires as, like you mentioned, they were banned by ROAR for sanctioned racing. Those narrow front wheels/tires are pretty rare nowadays since they only came with first gen, early release RC-10T kits.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes I was thinking about sourcing those narrow front wheels and tires and they were double the price of the ones that I got. I just couldn't see spending that kind of money.

    Nice collection buddy! The most iconic RC ever imo. Gotta love the RC10 gold pan!

  • @AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp

    My first proper radio controlled car was an RC10, which I got secondhand from the U.S.A. back in the late 80s. I still have the chassis pan from that one, as it was a bit special. From what I could find out, it was one of the IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championship cars, as it had been professionally milled down for lightness. That started my love for RC10's, I've raced and used various versions of them until last one I raced which was the Black anodised worlds edition. I still have the MIP four-wheel-drive kit as well, which on its first outing damaged one of the front hubs that was un-available to England from that point on. :D I recently wanted to build a few of them up again, but realised to do so would take in excess of a thousand pounds each, so just tidied up the one I do have and brought it back to looking like it did in the 90s, along with all my other Schumacher cats and a Team Losi XX. With these cars I became Wrigley's champion in the UK for nearly 10 years, so I'm very proud of these cars, but I still have a soft spot for my first RC10.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  Před 2 lety +1

      Wow thats awesome to hear. Glad I was able to get you to reminisce about the good ol days... I've seen pics of the MIP 4 wheel drive conversion kit. That seemed pretty cool. So you were never able to find the hub for that or fix it?

    • @AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp
      @AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp Před 2 lety

      @@RCRetro Nope, after selling me the kit, Eustace Moore replied "if you need spares just buy another kit" which as you might have guessed, didn't go down well. :D Anyway, I'll get round to fabricating the piece out of delrin one day. I still wouldn't mind seeing that puppy go again, as it made a phenomenal four-wheel-drive car. :)

    Great video! In the late 80s - early 90s I was racing off-road buggys and trucks. My RC10 was a gold pan (don't know which stamp) with the 6 gear transmission. It had been modified with the outdrives milled and drilled to reduce rotating mass, and the countergear shaft mounting plate had been "tweaked" for improved gear mesh. Eventually I was dominating stock buggy class and shortly after the 10T was released I converted It! Fun times!

Used along with a complete 6 gear, and or possibly an original Lethal Weapon belt drive trans for the trailing arm car. . decent unless going for a shelf queen (bought out a vintage online shop some years ago 17ft uhaul) and had a ton of rc10s stripped them down. have kept what i want. and since you have a truck collection going have 2 rc10t2's getting ready to unload. one could be a decent runner. but not total shelf queens. if interested.
