    Seestern is still a level above SM, although Seestern also started using off the shelf clasps that are not snug with the bracelet (same as SM), and this watch is a good example. One thing I also found is that SM clasps scratch much more easily.

    Great video. Just my 2 cents: Don't understand why you would give an extra point for the movement that is known to be less reliable, just because of the beat rate. IMHO many people assigne too much value to beat rate when we are talking budget watches. I prefer reliability and durability over a higher beat rate.
    Your video is great, I'm greatful, but I think the movments at the most are tied.
    Best regards

    • @ThePaulv12
      @ThePaulv12 Před 8 měsíci

      Well I'd prefer a high beat rate because NH Seiko movements are so meh!
      Look I don't mean to sound like a d**k but as part of a collection, a watch like this with a high beat movement less reliable than a Seiko movement is hardly an issue because after you buy it & wear it for a few weeks it'll just sit there and get used 4x a year meaning it'll still last 10 years probably.
      If it was a primary watch then maybe your point is fair enough.

    Seestern for the "W" with the fully brushed case and polished chamfers + slight taper around the lugs. I've already taken the Scotchbrite pad to the sides of my SD1962 (and it looks much better "brushed" IMO), but the Steeldive 62MAS just seems a bit overly large A. 38mm case brushed at the factory for 200.00 USD is just what I'm looking for. Agree, though, about the font being a bit thick in the Seestern's bezel insert - less really is more there. Excited to be getting my 1st Seestern (grey). EDIT- *outstanding* in depth comparison, bravo 👍

    Excellent comparison I really enjoyed! I agree, for the Seestern has a lot going for it. Who would have thought it's better than a San Martin in terms of case finishing? I like the fact that it has brushing on the sides. The NH35 is the better movement for this watch. Not only is is more reliable and robust than the PT5000, the watch also has a little bit of Seiko in it. This watch doesn't need a high beat movement at the cost of reliability and longevity.

    I own the Seestern - and have yet to see enough of a difference from any other brand to change it.

    Now its posible to purchase it with a pt5000 or a selllita options at an extra cost, but I don't care as I DO NOT really see the point of one "Hommage" of a japanese watch, with one "hommage" of a Swiss movement on it ..wtf?¿..,

    Man. San Martin should make more watches with NH35 or the NY55 movement. As you said the NH35 is more reliable plus the prices with the PT5000 are a lot more. Like for example the explorer homage that with NY55 is about $250 and with PT5000 $310. I really think that their watches at $250 would sold a lot more.

I'd actually pay more for an NH35 movement over a Pt5000..; which is NOT more accurate, and is unknown as to service life, but certainly will need more servicing due to the 8 beats per second.

Also, you give a point to the San Martin bracelet because it appears to have more work into it, but work isn't the same as quality. As you say it is edgy, has defects, and only four micro adjusts; The Seastern bracelet looks more refined. At best, it's 1-1.
