My nieghbor has this compressor in his constuction company and has used it hard. He has been very pleased with it. So I bought this one and the 2 gallon very quiet one. So far I am very pleased with them. They hold air for a long time.
How is it for car tires?
@@glen8449 It would be great for car tires. Proably alittle overkill. I will be framing a house with it.
@@glen8449 I was just thinking, I have the 2 gallon for trime guns finishing inside of homes and the 4 gallon for framing.
@wendellbell6164 how do you think the 2 gallon would handle car and truck tires? That's all I use a compressor for. Thanks for your reply. My 16 year old compressor just died. Lol...
@@glen8449 the 2 gallon would just be slower but quieter to.
I have the 2-gal ultra-quiet model. Love it. HF gets a lot of flack for their quality but I think the Fortress line of compressors is a diamond in the rough.
I used to have a Bostitch 6-gal pancake compressor. I had to replace the regulator once. It was louder than all get out. It always scared the bejeebers out of me when it kicked on. I was very glad to get the Fortress. I run small nailers and blow stuff off. It is perfect for my needs.
Great review. May have been all talk but you provided plenty of information. If someone wants to see it in action, there are plenty of other videos for that. Well done.
Thank you. I may add the 2gallon in the future for install work. Glad to here it's working well for you
After 1 year mine started leaking air from the inside hoses and connections. It is not easy to pull all the plastic covers off and replace the hose clamps or hoses. It is doable, but a mother dog just the same. Other than leaking air all the time and constantly restarting every 5 minutes it is relatively quiet compared to other brands.
I bought the 2 gallon model of this in November, 2021, sku #64596. I paid $160 plus tax. The pressure switch just started giving me an issue (end of January 2023) where tit doesn't shut off when the correct pressure is reached so it goes into a blow-off, over-pressure mode and just starts hissing out air. I ordered a pressure switch from HF, cost $20.I could have gotten an extended warranty when I bought it but it was expensive plus I don't have a HF close by. To load it up and go back for a replacement would cost me more than $20. I like it though, pretty quiet when it works correctly. Mine had two plastic square covers over the twin compressor heads for safety, so you can't burn your hands and fingers but I took them off so it cools faster.
It says 4 SCFM... what is the CFM at 90psi?
This compressor works great for the installation of hardwood floors.
Get some Novus plastic polish #2 I used it at PPG on aircraft windshields that can cost thousands of dollars +++ it works great
Is the tank aluminum on this model? The 2 gal model advertises an aluminum tank but it doesn't specify for the 4 gal model. It looks like yours has a little bit of surface rust on the bottom of the tank leading me to believe it's steel but that could just be dirt/dust that I'm seeing. Thanks for the video!
It's steel
Hey im debating between getting the 5gal fortress jobsite 225 and the 27 gal fortress 200psi. What one would be better for a small shop air compressor running a single earthquake xt impact or small air ratchet etc
If you're doing anything that requires a high volume of air you want the larger tank.
The 4 gallon is good for nailers and blowing things off but idk if it could handle a impact wrench for an extended time. You'd be waiting for it to recharge between lug nuts. I think, if someone has a different experience I'm all ears.
If you have the room I'd say go for the 27gal. That will give you the volume for all types of tools
I'm 18 and just getting into learning mechanic work so I never bought any tools so I don't know much. I found that a air ratchet and impact would be cheaper and work better to start off with. I have to small dewalt impacts but I see it a waste to buy a large 400$ impact plus larger batteries for it for occasional use. Thank you for your insight much appreciated! Also the air ratchet is from harbor frieght the fleet mechanic recommended it, it's 46$ with 200lb torque and the earthquake xt impact wich is a 120$ and he can get me a discount on it because he has the membership
I've got one too. I think it does a good job. My dewalts kept giving out early. So I tried this one. We've beat the snot out of it building fences and it keeps going. Did a few roof jobs also
Good to know! Thanks for sharing
You did not compare that compressors with the Ultra Quiet compressor also from Harbor Freight.
Well if you’d like to sponsor a video and pay for the ultra quiet compressor I’d be happy to compare them side by side
how long can u blow off with 90psi?
Maybe 20-30 seconds
@@DaileyWoodworks thanks dude. changes my whole decision on buying haha.
That’s Harbor freight, some stuff is good a lot crap.
