  • The Nikon D3000, shortly behind the D5000, helped initiate the Nikon DSLR lineup's four-digit numbering system with 3000-series camera making the entry-level tier. The D3000 provided users a camera with an interface similar to, but stripped down from, the D5000 and later bodies. A lot of what Nikon developed for the D3000 in terms of layout and system organization provided a foundation for continued improvements across the 3000-tier cameras for more than a decade.

    I’ve had this camera for years most of the time I’ve used auto mode. I finally understand all of the features the D3000 has. Thanks for the thorough walkthrough!

    This is very informative, super helpful. Thanks for going through all of this. I have a D3000 and not really sure what all the modes and buttons and parameters mean. Thank you for this. I especially appreciate you putting everything into context and how to use each thing and not just "this is what this button does."

    Great Video , coming from a Konica 35mm Film SLR background Digital SLR's are very intimidating and expensive to say the least , the Nikon D3000 is very affordable now and still far exceeds past technology yet still allowing Manual Control Photography thanks !

    Just a word about "use any old flash" with the hot shoe mount... many pre digital era flashguns use a 'trigger voltage current' that could damage a digital camera. So, it is important before mounting such a flash to check what voltage the trigger circuit uses. It is reasonably safe to assume that your digital camera is okay for use at voltages up to 10volts or so. Either lookup your flashguns trigger voltage online by way of a Google search or use a multimeter to measure the current between the centre ball connection on the hotshoe foot and the metal pin located it the keyway slot of the shoe mount (within the side channel way). Old flashguns can vary between about 3v and 300v.. so it is a potential issue. If damage occurs the camera will no longer trigger an external unit and may even fail to trigger the built in flash from that day on. Hope that helpe avoid any heartache. 😢

      @@trashyaudiophile7301 for the 18-55mm, the filter thread is 52mm. Most lenses have that printed on the front next to a diameter symbol

    The pop-up flash button doesn’t seem to work for me. Nothing happens. Is there another way to get it to come out or do I have to buy an attachment to have a flash?

    • @DavidHancock
      @DavidHancock  Před měsícem

      Check the mode that you're set to. If it continues not to work, it may be a shot release motor. If you press the release button and hear a clicking, then it's likely the motor.

      There are a few potential reasons and I would need a lot more info to find out why. If you check the Nikon forums website, someone there can probably help answer your question.
