      That should tell you about what life is like is a lot of dressing rooms - high intensity, high pressure situations every single week and these players are also dealing with interpersonal problems, relationship issues, insecurities, egos etc. A lot of the stuff that we hear from players and coaches is mostly PR if I'm honest, and then we're quick to bash journalists who report of friction or bad blood in a squad because a player or two has come out and rubbished it - I'm thinking about the Rudiger being a bit of a bully towards academy players stories about 2 years ago.

      I don’t think there was tension in the dressing room I think there was pressure in the dressing room. Nobody was antagonistic towards each other except Romana. Everyone was competitive but the drive was to win not to create drama or tension.

    Ramona was her own worst enemy. Her lack of team-first attitude and focus on herself first was clearly a factor affecting her role and priority in the team. The immaturity is a bit of a surprise.
    EDIT: After reflecting on this further I think maybe Emma should've done a better job with Ramona too? This series glosses over what went on but it's hard not to get the impression Emma should've done more to refocus and remotivate Ramona.

      @@alexlaflame4328 It's not about whether she said anything about Sam. It's just obvious she was very focused on her own starting position as a priority ahead of the team though, no doubt affecting her relationships and trust with manager and team-mates --> ie the "belonging" thing Sam was talking about. If she'd put more focus on the team she would've improved her relationships, probably gotten more playing and scoring opportunities, possibly even recovered better, and gone some way to solving her problems. The counter-example is Sam actually: she's very team-first focused and unselfish (to a fault), but this ultimately leads to more playing time and personal rewards for Sam too, not less.

      Make sense I didn’t really think about it that way before. I just think that deep down every one want to showcase their talent and contribute, been always on the bench affect the players massively . it’s just the way some of them deal with it cause not everyone in the team really feel what they are feeling at time. But yea I believe what you say make perfect sense.

      @bd9531 Před rokem +4

      @@alexlaflame4328 Yeh, I agree in reality the dynamics aren't so simple and also this doco just shows a snippet of what really went on. Obviously all of the players want to start and a level of competition to do so within the squad is healthy. But it seems Ramona had a unhealthy level of direct focus on it some of the time, when she probably would've been better served herself by focusing more on the team.

    Proud of my Swedish girls Magda & Jonna! ❤You are truly team players and show the same you behind the scenes as we get to see in public. I also feel very sad for Sam!
    Ramona Bachmann had her peak at a very young age. She started playing in the Swedish league at the age of 17. At that time, women's football was mostly professional in Sweden & Germany. Bachmann and Marta were the big stars in the Swedish league. Ramona was a goal machine. And then other European countries and clubs started to invest in women's football. When she started playing in European clubs, she hasn't performed well at all.
    Many players tend to become great players and more complete the older you get. But in her case, it has been the opposite. When she was young, she was the big star. And the older she's gotten, the worse she's gotten. I don't like her behaviour, but I can still understand her. I think it's been difficult for her to go from being the big star to being benchwarmer. Accepting it! While Ramona was at her best in the Swedish league, Magda was a bench warmer. Now she's captaining her team. 👀Just a thought!

      My observation as dad of a daughter playing in the NCAA, I get that there's a difference. My wife with a PhD and expert in Women's Studies, Equity etc. would also say there shouldn't be a difference, but (for whatever reason, nature/nurture/culture/patriarchy) coaching women requires another dimension. @@Tookie_mots Another way to look at it is top managers innovate and transform teams to play significantly better than just the sum of their parts. That's not really happening at Chelsea at the moment: Chelsea have been playing about as well as you would expect the sum of their parts to play, given they've got some of the best players in the world in the squad. This is born out by the empirical evidence this past season: Chelsea only *just* won the league and were far too easily dumped from uwcl. They were very lucky to get to the uwcl final the previous season too.
