  • This 1974 Chevrolet promotional film, titled " Selling Interiors and Options ", was sent to the Chevrolet car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales and customer training film. The film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year. Models shown include Caprice, Impala, Monte Carlo, Chevelle, Malibu , Laguna S3, LT Camaro, Nova, and Vega. Accessories and Options Highlighted include Air Conditioning, Power Brakes, Power door locks, Vinal Roofs, Automatic Transmissions, Sterio Systems with 8 track players, Positraction, Sky Roofs, Rally Wheels, and Roof Racks. If you look up a different film I posted, titled "1974 Chevy Selling Monte Carlo ", you can see a rare glimpse of the film cartridge viewer that was used at the dealership where the customers and personnel were to view these films. The machine was made by Technicolor and called the " Chevrolet Mini Theater System "
    This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the super8 film from the Technicolor Cartridge. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. Next the scanning to digital process was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner in 2k resolution. Excess film grain noise was removed and the images upscaled to 4k resolution utilizing Topaz AI software. Then extensive color correction was performed in Davinci Resolve. Finally, the film was downscaled back to 2k for uploading to CZcams.

    The Medium Red paint on the 1974 Caprice Classic is gorgeous. As a 10 year old at the time, that year had an elegant front design.

    American cars from this era are so gorgeous to look at!! Real effort was made in the design, they were totally unique in the world. Nowadays its all European inspired, boring, small, and a tight sporty ride. Bring this level of luxury back please!!!!

    In the mid 80s, I had a ‘75 Chevelle Malibu Classic. I bought it from my dad, who bought it from my car salesman older brother. It was a demo model that my brother drove until he sold it to my dad. It had the 350 2 bbl, but ran better than this would suggest. I blew away Camaros and Trans Ams of the 80s with that car. Methinks my brother did some tweaking to it because it ran much better than the average 350 2 bbl. It even beat my buddy’s ‘75 Nova hatchback with the same engine. How was that possible? The Nova was so much lighter 😳

    If you're paying attention, that Caprice had stereo radio speakers in the front of the dash, but no speakers in the back, but it had an AM radio

      @ronbrock6153 Před 10 měsíci

      So not sure where you see the Caprice with no rear speakers. The only way to get dual front speakers was the optional
      4 speaker radio, which was an AM/FM stereo, then would step up to a tape player option.

    8:40 He talking about radial tires, but the tire in frame looks like a bias ply. The radial tire would have likely been the Firestone 500, well known for failure in summer time. The 721 was the tire to replace it. 7 strands around, 2 strand, wrapped by 1.

      These were the first vehicles off the assembly line. With the system that Chevy used to show these, most people would not have noticed. The "Selling Series" was not meant to be viewed by customers. Sales training film.

    They were nice cars,the only drag is they had so many air pollution devices to clean up a carburated engine.The sad part was they cut into power,the added weight of bumper standards ,not to mention the smallest V-8 available was a 350,most owners of fullsise cars were lucky to average 12 miles to the gallon,and the Arab fuel crisis was just around the corner, adversely affecting people's opinion of eight cylinder fullsize cars.
