      sad asd well i own a gh5 and i shoot myself most of the time. Af could be better but i always get the job done. No other camera has the 6k photo mode and i love it. I do all my self portraits with it. I set it to face detection, start the camera and here we go. It never disapoints me. I was thinking about buying other cameras but 6k mode too important for me. A gh5 is a really good hybrid cam even if it has no canon af. But in photos panasonic af is very very good and for video it is good enough. I will be a happy s5 owner soon

      I have no idea about the relationship between Sony and Pana in depth, but can you image if Sony gave their juicy PDAF sensors to Panasonic? They would ruin their own video market. Panasonic is insanely valued as seen by the GH5/s, and even their tiny cameras that can record 4K for a long time. If the GH5 came with the lighting quick AF... Imagine how much juicier it would be, and surely it would eat up some Sony sales.

      @@michaelcroff7097 I think I decided to stick with MFT and go with the GH6. The S5 felt like too many sacrifices from a usability perspective--it depends so much on external recording capabilities then sticks you with a micro HDMI and a screen that can't articulate when you've got the HDMI port in use. To me as a run and gun, a flexible workhorse GH6 wins out over the modestly superior dynamic range and low light capability of the S5.
      I don't really film myself so I'm happy to stay with the Panasonic value proposition, even if it means the AF isn't stellar.

    13:00 Very glad to see that out of frame areas of non-16:9 aspect ratios can actually be dimmed down.
    I have always found the frame markings on the GH5 a bit lacking because they were just dashed grey lines, which blend in with the video in many situations, making composing for widescreen aspect ratios more tedious than it needed to be. With the frame mask you can actually see at a glance how the composition looks. It's one of the little things that can help one improve their video skills... thank you Panasonic!

      I was so excited when they announced the frame guides with the new firmware... And when I saw what they looked like eventually, I felt cheated. Still hoping Panasonic will fix this.

    To me the question here is how to think about the Blackmagic after the S5 raw comes out. The BMPCC4K looked like a pretty good upgrade path from the GH5, but now the plot thickens.

    • @raksh9
      @raksh9 Před 3 lety +1

      That might depend on what lenses you use, too. If you typically use Canon or other full frame lenses on a Speedbooster, the S5 makes sense with an adapter as you dont need new lenses. But if you have mostly m43 native lenses, you'll need a bunch of new lenses for the S5.

    • @mfreeman313
      @mfreeman313 Před 3 lety

      @@raksh9 Certainly a factor. I've got some nice native glass for MFT and that was a consideration with looking at the BMPCC4K for sure. But I'm covered with FF too, and there's the Metabones XL which gives you close to FF on the MFT. I've got a lot of options to sort through but I guess that's one of those good problems. I will say this is a lot of camera for two thousand bucks.

      Too totally different ballparks imo. Black magic has a certain look to its imagery that i think still separates itself from mirrorless cameras imo. Also, braw is very efficient and has multiple codec options. It’s much better than pro res raw in terms of flexibility and options so it’s not quite the same. Also keep in mind, it’s raw is ALL internal. No atomos needed.
      I think the S5 would be a good complimentary camera to the pocket 4k and 6k I’m actually thinking about it.

      @@RandomMotoThings Well, that's just it. All these bodies have a mix of strengths and weaknesses and in the end it's what's the best fit for the individual shooter. I may rent this and the BMPCC, see how they feel in use, then send them back and play with the files I get and see if there's an obvious way to go.

    Sir, do you think the quality of images by X1500 is worse than S5?
    Mostly I make videos of street food. It needs fast AF and deep depth. So I also consider the Panasonic X1500 camcorder. However, I also consider a good quality of images and filming inside of restaurants or filming in the evening. Because of these 2 matters, I hesitate to choose X1500. I do not color correction after editing at Premier Pro. My style is quickly filming, editing, and loading on CZcams. In this aspect, the X1500 is good for me. May I look forward to your reply?

    One more thought; would you recommend jumping from the A7iii to the S5? It feels a little lateral, but (on paper) you still get some really good video upgrades, obviously the biggest being anamorphic.

      @Daniel Tomczak that’s unfortunate because there’s a lot more to video than that crop. MOST movies are filmed with super 35 sensors. For video this shouldn’t be that much of a issue I just think people get too enamored with the “full frame hype”. I think super 35 is more than sufficient and the most important thing imo should be image quality, codecs, raw, video tools etc. To each is own though I respect the opinion
