    Thanks for the vid. Had the same engine codes popped. Cleaned EGR ports and changed spark plugs. Fixed the codes.

    I'm about to have to do this with my Civic... That is, once I can figure out how to get the one remaining rusted nut off of my EGR valve. 🙄 I'm worried that I'm going to run into nuts that are even worse when I try getting to my intake valve manifold to clean it out. 😩 Did you use any special tools, or just basic sockets & cordless impact weekends wrenches? Do you have any other advice/tips that you'd recommend when doing this job?

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey man! Sorry for the late response. I only used the tools shown in the video. The best advice I can give is right at 5:45 in the video. The only nuts you should have trouble with are the ones I address in this part of the vid. Only other advice I’d give is BE PATIENT. It’s always better to take your time, than to strip/break/cross thread a nut or bolt in these tight areas. Also replace your rusty hardware while you’re in there 🤗 best of luck my friend!

      @@gridengine thanks. It was kind of tough to tell what exactly you were talking about, since I haven't gotten in there yet, but I think I know what you were saying. Hopefully I won't have any unexpected problems. I have to wait until Thursday to work on it, since the weather will be crap until then, and I have to work outside. High temp will be 47 that day. 51, 55, & 62 the following days. Hopefully I can feel & bend my fingers during it. I might have to buy another set of nut extractors since I can't seem to find mine

      Dang… that’s cold for sure. We know all about working in the cold and it’s sucks! Get yourself a nice pair of mechanix brand gloves. Those help a lot. And yes, the part of the video that I time stamped in the comment above will make a lot of sense once you get to the point where you are taking your intake manifold off. 👌👌

      @@gridengine the lows will be 31, 34, & 38. Ha. And I'll only have about a 3 hour window of daylight. I actually have a pair of Milwaukee red latex level-3 cut resistant insulated Winter dipped work gloves that I wear all the time, including in frigid temperatures. They were $11 at Home Depot. They've saved my fingers a few times. Plenty of grip, and liquid proof on most of the glove. Do you remember how long your entire job took you?

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 2 lety +1

      Nice dude! Those gloves will do the trick, and the entire job took me about 5 hours. But if I had a video to follow, it would’ve been more like 3.

    Hi there! I also got a civic same engine on the video but non vtech and no egr the problem is it has random misfires on all cylinders and sometime chocking when accelerating on a traffic light or im on a highspeed. Got new coils and sparkplugs already. I hope you could help me with this matter. Thanks a lot 🙏

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před rokem

      No egr system completely? Or just no egr valve?

    • @jaysontan4962
      @jaysontan4962 Před rokem +1

      @@gridengine completely no egr. Its a 2001 civic non vtech. The longer you drive the car the chocking will be gone but still has the trouble codes on the scanner

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před rokem

      That sounds like maybe a plugged catalytic converter, or a bad sensor (either M.A.P. Or O2).

  • @kevinlima330

    Got an 01 ex same as this, though it's an auto. Noticed a rough idle after it warmed up so I swapped sparks, coils, and injectors. Now it misfires like crazy and stalls. Think this is a possible cause? Thanks in advance

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 3 měsíci

      This absolutely could be the problem!

      @@gridengine Thanks for the reply. Think I should pull the intake, carbon clean it, then reset the ECU? Forgot to mention it threw an egr insufficient flow code even after egr valve replacement

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 3 měsíci

      @kevinlima330 these passages being clogged can cause egr codes. Not always, but definitely a good idea. After you finish cleaning them, you could just disconnect the battery for five minutes and it will clear the ECU.

    • @kevinlima330
      @kevinlima330 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@gridengine Thanks chief. Definitely a lifesaver. I'll report back when I get it done. Strangest misfire i've ever seen

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 3 měsíci

      @kevinlima330 yes. Honda managed to make a misfire even harder to diagnose by designing an egr passage that can easily clog 🙄🙄

      @@gridengine Sounds about right lol,
      Also how could one tell if one's cat conv is that clogged?

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 2 lety +2

      Most catalytic converter‘s can be removed from the exhaust pipe without having to cut anything. Once you get it off, you can usually shine a flashlight through it and get a pretty good idea of whether or not it is clogged.

  • @liambassetto4538
    @liambassetto4538 Před 3 měsíci +1

    My catlyitic converter got stolen a month ago insurance wouldn’t cover it so I decided to weld in a pipe and left it, leaving the o2 sensor not plugged into anything. No issues until this week all cylinders started misfiring does anyone know if that sensor could be the cause or would it be something else

    • @gridengine
      @gridengine  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Do you have any check engine codes? If you want your car to run normally, it would be a good idea to make a bung for the O2 sensor to thread into. I believe AutoZone sells something The O2 sensors can thread into that you can then weld into that pipe.

    • @liambassetto4538
      @liambassetto4538 Před 3 měsíci +1
