Lazio have taken Italian football by storm this season, launching an unexpected threat to Juventus’ eight-year stranglehold on Serie A.
Simone Inzaghi, a striker for the Roman club when they won their last league title under Sven Goran Eriksson in 2000, is now in his fourth full season as head coach.
He led the club to Coppa Italia glory last year, and won the Supercoppa Italiana in 2017 and 2019. But this season his side have hit new heights, setting a club record with 19 league matches without defeat, including wins over Juventus, Napoli and, most recently, Inter Milan, that has propelled them into a surprise Scudetto race.

Genuinely glad to see Luis Alberto flourishing at Lazio. He felt severely underutilized at Liverpool.
I kind of saw how he was going to be as a player. Same like Suso.. Would love to have them both actually, even more than Sterling I'd say.

Please, do a video on Atalanta. They have scored the most goals in Serie A this season and last season too. It would be very interesting to watch the analysis of their attacking style.
Ozzy K They have beat up on teams three times this season with 7 goals in each of those games. So yes, they have scored more goals than any other team but the numbers are padded due to those 3 results.

Lazio’s spine has been phenomenal this year Strakosha, Acerbi, Alberto and Immobile have been as good as any spine in Europe this year, Serie À is definitely the most interesting of the title races this year alongside the Bundesliga
Tho from the current performance, looks like Bayern will run with it again. Anticlimax ending if that's going to happen.

The Serie A in my opinion has been steadily improving quality wise the last 4 or 5 seasons. Very entertaining league and getting back to where it used to be.

You should probably update this. This man is doing wonders at Inter with the CBs adopting a striker role (which is crazy to me) and the strikers are playing like midfielders.

Was at the Lazio - Bologna game this season. Such an amazing squad, manager, stadium and most importantly fans. Constantly fighting for the ball. The Bologna goals which were ruled out were just mistakes. Would love to see an old giant win a title this season

Our owners can't make up their minds about what they're looking for in this team, they keep firing and hiring staff as they please and they haven't really done any significant investments so far. We signed Luis Alberto in 2013, and I remember him saying that he wanted to emulate Xavi Alonso's success at Anfield - and me at that time was thinking - _yeah, right mate !!!_ You could see there was genuine quality in his game - (remember his assist to Suarez in that 5-0 win away at spurs ?) But, his struggles to fit in the Rodgers system made me further think that
his game might suit a pass and move spanish league but he might not be able to cut it at the highest level for us - but you wish you're wrong and he genuinely succeeds in his career aaaa and time has proven me wrong and I am glad it did
Other special mentions for Liverpool's youngsters of class of 2012/13/14 in include suso, conor coady and jonjo shelvey... they've done well for themselves after leaving anfield and you're always happy for them 😊😊😘
Are u a Liverpool fan?? Funny thing is I also always remember that Alberto's performance when Liverpool annihilated Spurs by 5-0 at White Hart Lane. Ever since that day, I always kind of spying on this kid.. Looks like he's fulfilled his ceiling today. Good for him!

It has been a while since I have this I like feeling for Lazio, which is curious because I don't really know why I always root for them in Serie A for this long since I'm Portuguese (maybe it is because of Couto and Conceição).
I visited Roma for the first time last November and went back there just 3 weeks ago and Lazio got another fan.
I hope they can add Serie A to the SuperCoppa this season, as always I'll be rooting for them from Porto.

anony mous he failed in clubs where the coach’s role was not crucial as in middle-table teams. Both Genoa and Atalanta over performed under his headship. During the brief Inter spell, Gasperini was subdued to the president and had neither space and time to shape the team with his ideas.

last season Lazio placed on 8th position and many people said "Luis Alberto is a good player but too discontinuos" and "they should have to sell Milinković-Savić when the price was more than 100m" but Lazio believed in its project and now they are damn right!
I love this breakdown! I was happy to see Lazio live in action against Juve at the Olympico back in december. This team has a great balance and the desire to win games. Hopefully they win the scudetto ✌🇮🇹🏟

reminds me of mourinho's inter milan- Great blend of experinced and young players,lethal strikers(milito, immobile),technically gifted playmaker(sneijder,luis alberto),smart central midfielders(cambiasso,milinkovic-savic),disciplined defence (presence of players/leaders like acerbi and radu can't be overlooked).

From their squad you could tell there was emerging potential. They've got a fab core Milinkovic Savic Alberto Immobile Leiva Felipe Radu and they're just really lucky bigger teams didn't pinch them early and act on the transfer rumours. Putting it together has been interesting, it's a bunch of first class talent drilled to perfection. I'd like Inter to win the league, but Lazio suits me as well. Anyone but Juve! 🔵⚫🔵⚫🔵⚪🔵⚪

Further, the front two set-up is great: He can have an archetypal big target man (Caicedo) paired with the more advanced, stretching front man (Immobile); or pair the latter with a deeper-lying, almost false-9 attacker (the brilliant J.Correa). Inzaghi's 3-5-2, for me, is the most exciting iteration of a 3-5-2 in football at this present time...
When you have a name like Simeone and Ingaghi, you're destined for greatness.

Getafe would be the team that you should look. I mean,, i just looked up their stats today,, and their opponents have more possessions than them (54% - 46%). Yet they got no attempts at all to Getafe's goal. That's simply something unheard of.
Only watched them since their tie against Ajax, and I'd say they're probably the best defensive team in Europe right now. Their working rate and how they close down the opponent's spaces is crazily good! Pls do it Tifo Football...

Very good coach, possibly the next great Italian mastermind. Even as a Juventus fan, couldn't begrudge Lazio winning Serie A this season. Also unlike Conte who likes midfielders who run a lot, Inzaghi actually values the technical skills of his playmaking midfielders (Luis Alberto and Milinkovic-Savic). This team has clicked really well despite losing players like Candreva, Keita Balde, de Vrij and Felipe Anderson in recent years.
Only reason for me to wake up super early on weekends here in Canada is for Serie A football! Nothing better
